  1. Today we have received a recorded delivery letter from the above company. In October last year i brought a parking ticket at Lusty Glaze car park in Cornwall, I realised I did not have enough time on it so brought another, I put them both in the window but 1 must have blown down when I shut the door. (I have both tickets) When I returned to the car I had a parking charge notice. I ignored this and didn't here anything until January when a letter arrived undated called a notice to hirer, I again ignored this, today have received a recorded delivery letter headed Final Letter Before Debt Recovery or Court action. Any suggestions as my best course of action ? I did not receive the Notice to Hirer which was dated on 05/02/19 which was well over 56 days Thanks in advance for your help
  2. I can't get into contact with anyone at the TSB, not by phone, not by email. I was offended by a security guard at my local TSB branch (Aberdeen). I am trying to make a complaint but not getting anywhere. I tried to contact them by phone. The local branch don't pick up and I get an answering machine telling me to call back. The UK telephone line is an automated machine which asks me for my account number and sort code, which I can type in. Then it asks me for my "security number" or some such and I don't HAVE a security number. So I can't get anywhere with that. I made an online complaint and I get an auto-response only Blah, blah, blah. I'm a graduate scientist with all my faculties so if I can't get through to the TSB, goodness knows how anyone else manages.
  3. Hi, Recently some friends and I went on holiday to a villa rented through AirBnB. While there we cracked a plant pot, and some soil leaked into the pool. We spent the penultimate day cleaning and scrubbing the place because we felt guilty and left the place in pristine condition. We left at 8am, the host had guests in at 12 noon the same day. Upon being home a few days, the host put through some damages for us to pay amounting to a staggering 684€. This included; - Cracked Plant pot (80€) - Damaged IKEA towel and damaged IKEA bedding (50€) - Pool Cleaning (50€) - Cracked pool tile (500€). We were shocked. - Despite scrubbing the place clean and actually checking for damages, we did not see any cracked tiles and do not believe it was us at all. - The plant pot was heavy, so we are assuming shes damaged the tile herself replacing the plant pot. Regardless, we think this should be covered by insurance. - We payed a £237.49 cleaning fee up front; we think the pool should be covered by this - The IKEA towel and bedding was damaged by bleach that the host left on the floor. This also ruined all the girls bikinis, by bleaching them! We refused to pay the sum the host demanded. She then responded with "We just had an email from the tile constructor who thinks that the tile would cost 250€ instead of 500€". At this point, her costs include 0 receipts or proof of cost of any kind, and we found the IKEA towels online for £4.84 (IKEA website). Anyway, we declined the payment and she went to the resolution centre. The resolution centre is supposed to ask for both sides of the story and come to a fair settlement. The "expert" got in contact to say she was getting information from Hilde and would then contact us. We then went to support and asked about the Security Deposit. There was no security deposit set on the property, and from research, to us this means anything we pay is on our sole good nature. The expert never contacted us; the next message from her was a breakdown of the costs she told us we must pay and our AirBNB account is deactivated until we pay. There was still no proof at all of any costs either, no receipts, nothing. We will not pay for absurd damages that we did not cause, knowing she has tried to ripp us off and certainly not when the "expert" never got in contact with us! - Can AirBNB force us to pay without a security deposit? - What can we do here? Please help, Ryan

  7. Is it just Yorkshire or are the security measures to prevent fraudulent use of a debit cards hopeless? I use my debit card to make online payments all the time. Occasionally I'm asked to validate my identity by entering my password in a pop up window (cant remember who's technology it is Sage? WorldPay?) I can never remember so I click forgotten password. I'm then asked to reset my password using only the information that's on the card in my hand. Sort code; expiry date; and security number. As a result I can reset my password and carry on. So too can the thief that has stolen my card and is using it to make fraudulent payment. Is it just me?
  8. On Saturday afternoon a car was parked in a private car park while my family and i went to the cinema. Someone bought a ticket for 3 hours expecting the film to be finished by the time the ticket would expire. However, the film finished 20 minutes after the ticket had expired. By the time we got back to the car (25 minutes after the ticket had expired) we had a Parking Charge notice on the car that is asking for £100 reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days. What should we do please? The parking company is a member of the Independant Parking Committee. Thanks for any help.
  9. A couple of days ago, I walked into asda with the intention of taking 2 chewing gums from a 45p packet and I did, I also stuck it down my trousers. The security guard caught me and took me to a room and made me sign a letter saying I'm banned from asda, but told me that's the end of it and nothing else will happen. Today I got a letter from dwf saying I have to pay £125 as some civil matter and it's nothing to do with any legal action asda had taken or may take. Do I actually have to pay this as I was promised nothing else would happen and paying dwf doesn't seem right as the matter is between me and asda over a 5 minute interaction. I know I am in the wrong but I'm just wondering do I have to pay this before I do. I'm 16 living in Brent, London.

  11. dear all I have read this thread http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?440374-Capital2coast-PCN-Lewes-Clamform-received&p=5045522#post5045522 with interest as I am still lumbering on with so called debts from Sussex Security Solutions Ltd who issued PCN at Eastgate Wharf, Lewes in August 2016. Sussex Security Solutions Ltd being owned by the same dodgy dealer as One Parking Ltd (trading as Capital 2 Coast). Having appealed as standard to SSS I heard absolutely nothing, not even a letter to confirm my appeal had not been agreed. Then followed debt recovery letter from DRP in November 2016. Silence until June 2017 when I received a letter from the notorious ZZPS LTD and finally in July a letter from Wright Hassall solicitors acting on behalf of ZZPS acting on behalf of SSS!! I am just penning a letter to Wright Hassall as I am getting to the point of being tired and angry that I keep getting harassed by every parking conman/woman in the land. I didn't even park (as such) on the so called private land I wasn't trying to get away with free parking whilst I shopped. Merely picked up my daughter who was waiting on the pavement at that spot (it looked a safe place to collect stop and let her in the car rather than on the high street!!) I guess the reason for my rant/post is just to check there is someone out there who is still holding up the flag by not paying up. ..It feels a lonely battle and quite intimidating at times.
  12. For information Sussex Security Solutions Ltd have been struck of the register of companies as at 13 June 2017.
  13. just out of curiosity this one work has issued us all with a locker and declaired that no personal items will be allowed in work - they must be all kept in the locker to go with this they have issued us all with a yale combination padlock i have demonstrated why these padlocks are not secure to my manager, basically by popping his open in under a minute after this i asked if i could fit my own padlock - which was refused i also asked if i could have a key padlock not combination - refused if i can demonstrate the padlock is unsafe but work insists i use it can i insist that they hold some liability for anything left in there?

  16. Hi, long time since I have been on so hope I have put this in the correct place. I am taking two large loans from a friend and family, to clear some business issues, both of which need to be secured on my property. Lawyers are asking ridiculous sums for agreements and posting the charges. A full legal charge appears to be too complicated and time consuming for my needs so I am proposing equitable charges which should suffice. My question is, what forms do I need to submit to the land registry and can this be backed by a simple loan agreement between lender and borrower? Would there be templates on the site for loan agreement and charge as I cannot seem to find them myself? The loan agreement I can find online if necessary, it is the charge details that I do not have. Many thanks for any input. r
  17. Hello everyone. About 4.5 years ago I was caught stealing some clothing from a high street store (tough period of my life, which I am luckily out of now. It was done to sell on to try and pay some bailiffs) The police were called, I was arrested and given a caution. I didn't have to pay an £80 fine. I'm going to apply for a job now and as far as I know they perform fairly stringent checks on their employees. This role won't be handling cash, or being around vulnerable adults/children. I think they will do an enhanced DBS check at the least. Will this be flagged up in the check? I'm lucky enough that I'm doing pretty well now, after quite a few hard and miserable years and I really, really want this job. Hope you can help.
  18. The consumer group Which? has criticised some of Britain’s biggest banks for failing to invest in security systems that would better protect their customers from fraudsters. Against a backdrop of booming bank fraud, Which? tested the UK’s 11 biggest banks and building societies and found that the security at five of them was still not good enough. Which? has called on the industry to make greater use of two-factor authentication at the login stage of online banking. This combines two identity checks – typically a password or pin plus a single-use pass code sent via a card reader or mobile phone. In its most recent test, carried out in August, Which? found that only five of the 11 banks had adopted such security checks to protect customers. https://www.theguardian.com/money/2016/oct/20/banks-online-security-is-failing-customers-says-which On-line Banking Security Rated http://www.which.co.uk/money/bank-accounts/guides/online-banking-security/online-banking-security-rated/
  19. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-37385201 When you see that hackers have gained access to some systems you think would be the most secure on the planet, it makes you wonder. Your Bank ? Credit reference agencies ? National Health Service/Doctors records ? UK government records ? I have had conversations with IT contractors who develop systems for financial services companies and they all say thay you can only continually review security, closing any gaps where they are found. But they all say that it is impossible to offer 100% security, because hackers are constantly trying to identify ways to bypass security to access systems. It is how quick you detect it happening and to stop them getting into parts of the system that are highest risk to a company. I can see a day coming when people try to get money from Banks, try to make transactions and fail because Banks systems have been hacked, so no money is showing in accounts. When that happens, you can bet that many who do online Banking will feel insecure and want to return to visiting high street branches, if they are still open.
  20. If you are thinking of visiting the BA i360 in Brighton I would suggest reading “Tripadvisor “ reports and in particular low rating ones first . I believe there is a member of staff acting outside accepted parameters for security searching , in that this person appears to delight in searching ladies personal belongings , in one report the lady had to stop this person removing her underwear from her bag , clearly this sort of search of ladies personal belongings should only be carried out by a Female member of staff , it is not . This member of staff also is surly and combative if he is challenged when carrying out searches , in my case he was handling my photographic equipment bag in a rough way and I asked him to stop , which resulted in a threat of not allowing me in the attraction . I have written to the Communication Manager at the BA i360 , but as yet not had the curtesy of a reply.
  21. Apple have issued an urgent iPhone and iPad software update (iOS 9.3.5) that included a patch for a serious security vulnerability. The vast majority of iPhone owners are probably on iOS 9 right now, but you should check and install that version right away The malware in question, which was detailed in a report from Citizen Lab and Lookout security, is a serious compromise that’s never been observed against iOS devices before. But you can guard your devices and your personal data against the latest security threat simply by heading to settings and hitting the update button. http://www.theverge.com/2016/8/25/12651206/apple-iphone-security-threat-update-now
  22. Hi all, hope you can shed some light on this issue I am facing currently, 2 months ago I bought a second hand car from a local car dealer, I did a HPI check prior and it showed outstanding finance on the car I rang up both the car dealer and HPI to query it and I was told by both that it is a 'unit stocking' finance and it is commonly used by most car dealers to stock up cars on their forecourt and the finance would be paid off automatically within 2-3 days of purchase I went ahead and bought the car for above the average price due to it being in pristine condition with low miles etc.. I only realized recently that I still hadn't received the new V5 logbook in my name tried to ring the car dealer to see if they had forgotten to send of the old V5 to DVLA. After trying numerous times to get hold them I had no luck, they wouldn't answer their phones or no replies for emails etc, tried to go on their website and it was down too! I got very suspicious and did another HPI check on the car to my shock the vehicle Registration was showing 'at risk' on the security watch register! however it was not showing outstanding finance. I rang HPI and was told the security register was made by the financial company for whatever reason and gave me their contact number. I still haven't contacted them because I am seriously worried they could repossess the car. My question to you guys are should I mention about the HPI check I did prior to purchase or am I better off not mentioning it? my worry is they could say to me why did I buy the car if I knew there was outstanding finance on it? will the 'innocent consumer' rights be thrown out? if the 'unit stocking' finance on the car is still outstanding will the finance company chase after the purchaser or the car dealer? and what happens of the car dealer had gone bust? The car dealer at the time had many cars advertised on autotrader and even more on their website there was no reason for me to believe about their credibility or reputation. I have the receipt of purchase and the payment was made with a Visa debit card. If you guys could please advise me the best option I should proceed with I would be very grateful! Kind regards Ri.

I dont know what this fee is for and they do not explain anywhere as to what is it for? As for as Im concerned, my arrears are £8946 and no more! CEOs of companies which fail to prevent problems with data security following cyber attacks face having part of their pay withheld under proposals outlined by a committee of MPs, which has also called for disclosure of data protection strategies in annual reports The Select Committee report recommended: Making advice on claiming compensation more readily available. 25. I was caught stealing at tk maxx today. It was a very foolish thing of me I admit. Something that costed £7.99 and I didn't want to pay for it as I had already purchase worth £70.01 at tk maxx and didn't have enough money for what I wanted. I took of the security plastic tag off the box and put the item in my bag while I got busy with my daughter as she was crying and kicking a fuss. I continued to checkout with all my other items amounting to £70! Then left the premises. A security came running down the stairs and spoke to me saying I believe you have something in your bag which you haven't paid for. I said ok let's check I opened my bag and saw the item then remembered I put it in my bag. I forgot about it as I spent nearly 2hours in the store looking for lots of things. He escorted me to the back security room and asked me to place everything not paid for on the table. I then placed the only item that was in my bag worth £7.99!! He asked me did you steal the item. I said I didn't mean to they were so rude and shouting. He then said look I'm calling the police and I cannot wait for that woman to tell me. Then I was obliged to say I stole it so that he doesn't call the police. Then he cut off the phone and said to me if I admit I stole it I said yes and started talking again he was angry saying that I'm fed up now I'm calling the police cause you're not ready to tell me. Then said that how are you going to explain to your partner if I call the social services because you stole £7 your daughter got taken away!! I stayed quiet and didn't wana say anything so they don't call the police. Now reading other threads I guess there will be a letter coming for me to pay for god knows what because the item was left un damaged. Shall I tell my partner I'm scared. I do not work to pay off any money to anyone. Please help me. They took my ID CARD with my details on it . And forced me to take my provisional license out of my wallet to show my address.
