  1. can someone please help me. Rossendales want to collect on unpaid parking fines, totally about 600. I am more than willing to pay them but it needs to be affordable amount for me, there are several issues I have: 1)I am willing to pay them but the demands they have set are beyond my budget and unreasonable. I have made payments on them but not to the amount they want. 2)I have tried to negioate but they have replied in an email (I will not talk them via phone) that they will not reply to any more messages from me 3) I have mental health issues and have sent in letters from gps etc to validate my claims. I am in a very vulnerable domestic situation with 2 children. I will not say what this situation is but please read between the lines. I have told Rossendales and they refuse to work with me. due to this I my mental health has hit crisis and I ended up harming myself. I am working with mental health crisis team. 4) they told me they would hold off sending a bailiff pending medical documentation but the next day they sent a bailiff to the wrong address and are now trying to charge me for there error to the cost of £375. I have disputed this and they have not responded 5) I submitted a complaint to Rossendales over week ago and have not heard 6)I contact my LA and asked them to stop the bailiffs but they are no help and wont. I know they appoint Rossendales and can do this. How do I get them to do this? any advice is greatly appreciated. I am in utter crisis, Im not sleeping, crying all the time and I am terrified to be in my own home. thankyou
  2. Hey all, Im currently unemployed but desperate to get back into work. I see a lot of jobs that are under 16 hours and am interested in a job but its only 13 hours. At min. wage it would be £84 p/w (but the max wage is £6.70 p/h which would make it £87 p/w) and Im currently getting £72 p/w in benefits. Travel expenses may leave me with not much extra in my pocket and I struggle like hell now so dont know if its worth my while or not. I was told earlier today that if I work under 16 hours my money may get topped up but I dont know anything about this or indeed if its true or not. Can anyone shed any light on this please? Thanks.
  3. If I enter some keywords and then click "Search CAG" it loads a custom Google search page and then hangs. Any clues? Running Firefox. Cookies enabled for consumeractiongroup.co.uk but not for google . Sorry if this has already been asked but I cannot search this forum for info as just stated.
  4. I'm currently not working, due to ill health, and am in receipt of ESA. Although I don't feel completely ready to start working again, I'm finding it really difficult trying to survive on the benefits, so am looking for part time jobs. I am subscribed to the DWP/JobCentre Plus website called `Jobungo', and have noticed several job offers detailing opportunities for working from home s e.g. data entry/typing documents/stuffing envelopes. Can anyone tell me if these sites are legal and safe, or are they all/mostly phishing traps? Or, does the fact that they are on the approved `Jobungo' jobs site, provide satisfactory validation? I have 3 main concerns. One site asks for an upfront £26.00 Registration payment. If I proceed, is it likely that I will get the promised work? Secondly, if the work doesn't then materialise, would I get my money back, and would this be straightforward? Lastly, a few years ago, I clicked onto a link to a similar `work from home' site. It turned out to be bogus, and my email account was hacked. (My email provider then blocked my account, and it was a long process proving my innocence, and getting access again). Before I contact JobCentre Plus/DWP, has anyone got any advice or experience of this? If so, are there specific companies in this field to steer clear of, and conversely, any companies with good records? I'm desperately hoping someone can help. Little Eva
  5. Hi there, I'm a company director (no shares), and discovered late last year that the MD and majority shareholder were committing fraud (fraudulent invoices from ghost employees, tax evasion) for financial gain. Over teh Christmas break I grabbed all the books and now have concrete evidence. I have notified the police who advised me to call the HMRC hotline - this was done back on 29/12/14 and I'm still waiting to hear back from them. Returning to work on Jan 5th, I confronted the MD and shareholder, and they put me on garden leave. A letter from their solicitor the following day confirmed this pending an investigation into believed gross misconduct (this is totally fabricated). The company is very small - a total of 4 employees including myself - and I'm still on garden leave, with the last solicitor's letter saying they should be ready for the disciplinary hearing in about 3 weeks. Is this acceptable or should I be getting my solicitor to gee them up a bit, maybe starting an employment tribunal process? This company has been running for 3 years, the previous company (same customers and service) for 20 years - I have been an employee for that long. As I'm now 46, I feel the chances of me getting back into this trade are getting less and less as time goes on. Any advice is appreciated.
  6. Been trying to google this and no joy. If a company takes an employee through the disciplinary process for poor performance and eventually decides to end the employment where there is a notice period in place, can the employer insist that the member of staff works this period? Or would the person leave immediately and be paid in lieu of notice? Also, is demotion allowed as a sanction. (Separate question) trying to help someone out here
  7. Hi I claim working tax credits 1 am 64 yrs old and work only 30 hours a week , because I suffer rather badly from DVT's had 3 and the last one was a "Pulmonary Embolism" the PE being 2015 because of which I HAD to have 13 weeks away from work and in complete rest . Not my choice though I was particularily ill , 5 out of 6 people do not survive this illness , so my consultant would not take any chances . I am self-employed and I do have an accountant/book keeper , would the time I had away from work affect my claim . regards 29.
  8. How does this work? I'm actually quite late for this so they might no backdate it, anyway they failed to send the form out again last year! Every years I have to contact them to send one out but I have been so busy. Can I assume that I don't need to defer then if they don't send the form out and just ignore it, and move somewhere else? ie. where they can't trace me
  9. Hi there, looking for some advice about claiming working tax credit as a self employed person. Is wtc based on income, or profit? I was awarded wtc last year based on 2013-2014, which was my first year of self employment in which I made a loss. This year so far I have made a (yes, I know, pathetic) £500 profit. Can I assume this is little enough not to have to notify HMRC? I'm not sure how it works as a self employed person, since income is unpredictable. At what point do you notify them if you think your income has risen from last year, given it may well go down again? Secondly, I'm moving area next month and plan to get an additional part time job (since clearly self-employment isn't working too well!). Can someone confirm it's acceptable to be both employed and self employed whilst claiming WTC? Apologies if these questions have already come up recently, I appreciate any insight you can offer. thanks lots.
  10. apparently after claiming wtc and being awarded it for 2012-13 was earning 7.00 ph on a 32 hour week hmrc claim that i earned £24k in this tax year, though for life of me cant figure that one out now had to finish work and told overpayment is 1200 pounds letter arrived today saturday [gotta admire their timing arriving on a weekend] rang them and they say they require me to pay at least 50 per cent of any disposable income per month which after answering questions on expenditure and income comes out at 14 quid a month can they insist on this amount
  11. Hi Caggers For anyone who is self employed and claiming WTC they will be subject to scrutiny and have to prove they are effective and working. They also have to earn each week the equivalent to min wage at 24 hours. If not will be stripped of the WTC. I have heard rumourned we will be forced back on to JSA to look for better paid work. Even with UC the rule would have given us 12 months grace to make the business work to that level of profit, no such thing with this new ruling.
  12. as part of the NHS i will be on strike next week for a 4 hour period. Some of my co-workers are choosing not to strike (as is there right) , but i noticed some staff are working overtime that day . Can there union dismiss them for that ? As in dismiss from the union they are members of .
  13. Can someone with good knowledge please help me to rectify a problem at work. There have been at least 4 times where employees who were on holiday but not going away have been rang by the office and asked if they can work part or all of their holidays. The union at work disagree with this practice saying it is unlawful....The management(or more the directors) disagree saying there is no law on selling your holidays..I got this info. from a u.k. website, Can you ‘buy back’ holiday from your staff? It is not lawful ( not permitted or recognised by law), to pay employees instead of letting them take holiday (except in limited circumstances upon termination of employment), even if the employee would be happy to agree it. However, there is nothing to stop an employer and employee coming to an agreement to “buy back” any contractual holiday that you offer OVER AND ABOVE THE STATUTORY MINIMUM.For example if you offer staff 30 days leave, you could legitimately buy back two days, although the employee could not oblige you to do so. Am I therefore correct in saying the office/management/directors etc, cannot allow staff to continue working instead of taking their holidays unless it is any days over and above the statutory 28 days?. I looked on Gov.co.uk but found nothing to suggest staff can or cannot sell their holidays back.I need some clarification on this issue please.
  14. hi everyone, I bought an Onkyo TX-NR609 amp on ebay 6 months ago. It's been working fine, but now it's developed a fault. The item being used is out of warranty and I don't have the original purchase receipts other than ebay prove of purchase. After some research I found that so many people have complained about this common issue, that onkyo have decided to extend the warranty and allow people to send the goods back to them to get repaired/replaced. My problem is that onkyo are asking for original receipt of purchase from an Authorised Dealer, otherwise they are not willing to cover their product. Surely it doesn't matter where you purchase it from? After all the fault is with the manufacturer's product, so how come the customer is losing out? What can I do?
  15. It isn't working for me on Firefox anyway. Fine on Chrome. Any ideas?
  16. Hi hope someone can help or advise me H I'm receiving letters from Akinika they said I owe DWP £1,384 they have already sent me 2 letters and today's one said if I've not paid them this amount in 10 days they will pass this to their solicitors Wright Hassall LLP, but when Dwp first asked me to pay this back I called them and emailed requesting proof of this debt as I do not have any recollection of this debt, I was on income support for a year that was 13 years ago they over paid me and it was all taken back or I presume as I heard no more that's only thing I can think of,anyway I received no proof and saved emails I sent them I also called dwp and asked them what is was for so they passed this on to a Akinika and now threatening me with their solicitor to make legal proceedings. Should I contact these people asking for proof of debt also?? if I owed the debt and had the proof I would pay it back and offer an amount each month I'm not refusing I just want proof this is my debt. Hope someone can help as I'm starting to worry only my husband works at present as I've two boys to look after all I get is £100 pounds a week and that's to pay of my other bills I'm considering step change if I owe this debt to help me out
  17. After a couple of years struggling in a job I hated I finally got a new job that I really like but there is always a down side and that is the lack of holidays. Yes there is 28 days leave getting it is a different story. Its a small family company, 7 employees, the others aren't to interested in holidays and take the money instead, I think so far this year they have had 3 days off. The company sets holidays at the start of the year but then cancels them at the last min saying they are to busy, for example next we are supposed to be off 2 weeks next week for summer hols, that was cut to 1 week and just today cut to 2 days, to busy was the answer, the same happened at Christmas apparently even though I wasn't there. As I say the others aren't worried, I'm very much in the work to live camp not the other but speak up and I'll be up the road. The others tell me its been a few years since they've even had a full week off
  18. i have a kindel fire for some reason has stoped working . It wont turn on the :-xscreen:-x. Now the totally unbelievable part, at 10.30 last night i loged into my amazon account to see what if anything i couold do and there was a help button so i pressed it and somebody came up in chat , explaned about the fault and they must have someway to see into the account they are talking to as they came back with the model and when i bought the fire. they then said its a known problem with some fires and because it was still under one year old they would send out a replacement free of charge and i would have it in 2 days, i woild also have a free postage box to return the non working fire. now thats customer service for you , i never expected to recive the relpacment untill i had returned the old one for sevral weeks whilst they investigated.
  19. Hi everyone, I have a contract of 16 hours per week. My average hours worked comes to just over 30 each week. I have always done about this since I started working there 3 years ago. Do I have any rights as to getting my contract hours upped, or do I just have to settle for what I am currently doing? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
  20. Can a EU citizen that has been away from the UK for some time claim Working Tax Credits, and if so can he claim from day one? On the Gov.uk site there's only mention of 3 months wait for Child Tax Credits, not Working Tax Credits.
  21. Hi there Could someone please help me regarding Working Tax Credit? I have been claiming Child Tax and Working Tax Credit for a number of years, but this time I didn't renew it by 31st July (the renewal deadline) as I knew I no longer qualified as my daughter is now 18 and has left full-time education. The problem is I thought it would end on 31st August just like the Child Benefit did. I was surprised to see that they have made a payment to my bank account this morning for £12.81 of Working Tax Credit only. I want to cancel this as my employment status changed a few weeks ago in that I now have a second job as I needed to make sure I was not financially worse off once the Tax Credits came to an end. In the past it's always been a nightmare to get in touch with them on the phone so it was hardly surprising that I haven't been able to get in touch with them today. How can I cancel this WTC? It's only a small pittance, but I don't want to be ending up paying it back. I can't believe it's still being paid even though their TV adverts state that tax credits will stop if you don't renew your claim before 31st July, which is what I hoped it would do. Has someone else had a similar experience and if so did you manage to cancel the WTC? It's not worth claiming £12.81 as it limits me to what I can earn from my wages and now that I earn way over the threshold I don't qualify for it any more. . Sorry for the long post. I hope there is someone out there that can help me sort it. Thanks
  22. Hi Are there any laws regarding a 17 year old working in a shop? No alcohol is sold. Can they be left on their own running the shop? Can they open up and close the shop - on their own? Thanks, Fred
  23. Hi Everyone I am employed in field work. My contract states that I must work 37.5 hours a week. As I travel to site everyday in different places It can take me hours to get there and the same to get back home. On average I travel 4 hours a day. My manager insists that this should be done in my own time. I have read on the Direct.gov website that if travelling is part of my job I can travel in company time. I would like to know what the law is regarding travelling?
  24. Hi. I just have a question regarding ESA. My husband had spinal surgery in October and has been on ESA since the end of September. He has received a letter saying he has to attend a medical on the 13th February but thats the day he is due back to work and all being well he will go back that day. Do I ring and tell them that he is back to work that day and they should cancel the appointment for the medical? Many Thanks
  25. Three women, worked in the same office at Canary Wharf. They had the same female boss and each day, the boss left work, early. One day, the women decided that when the boss left, they would leave, too. After all, she never called, or came back to work, so she would never know that they went home early. Pauline the brunette from Stepney was thrilled to get home early. She did a little gardening, had some playtime with her son, and was able to get a nice dinner ready for her husband when he got home. Ann, the redhead from Lewisham, was elated to be able to get in a quick workout, at the Spa, before meeting a dinner date. Tracy the blonde from Romford, was happy to get home early and couldn't wait to surprise her Husband. But when she got home, she heard a muffled noise, coming from inside her bedroom. Slowly and quietly, she opened the bedroom door just wide enough to peep in and was horrified, to see her boss in bed with her husband. Gently, she closed the door and crept out of her house. The next day, at their coffee break, Pauline and Ann said that they planned to leave early again that day, and they asked Tracy if she was going to go with them. "Not bleedin' likely" she said, "I nearly got caught yesterday."
