  1. Hi first time posting on here. I like most got caught up in a payday loans trap, I took out multiple loans with wonga and quick quid, I was paying one off then borrowing from another to live on because the repayments was most of my wages, I am posting on here to try to claim the interest back on my loans as I believe they was leant irresponsibly, when I first started taking the loans out I was already in debt to Halifax due to a £1000 unauthorized overdraft, that's now sold to 1st credit. I have emailed wonga and quick quid this email. To whom It may concern, I am making a complaint to you about irresponsible lending. To help me explain the details, I would like a list of my loans, showing when they were taken out and how much was repaid and when. Please note I am only asking for details of my loans, I am not making a Subject Access Request. Thanks Mr T B. I have received this email back this morning from wonga. Your complaint is being dealt with Dear Mr B, Thank you for contacting us. We were disappointed to learn that you are not happy with our service. Do you think I will be able to claim back the interest on the loans. as I am currently unemployed, not claiming benefits, and suffering from depression, so any money I might be able to get back would be a massive help to me atm, i would like to say thanks for reading this post and any advice given to me will be a huge help
  2. Hi, I have finally checked my credit file and I have 2 defaults from PD loans and 1 from Lloyds. Cash on Go ( I think may be Satsuma) - £410 ( Initially borrowed £200) Provident ( I think may be Peachy) - £755 ( Initially borrowed £400) and Lloyds £410 ( 100% unplanned overdraft charges that have accumulated. My account was a basic account with no OD facility.) United Kash have been contacting me for the Satsuma loan but from reading on here, I have not replied or answered the phone. As they are defaulted what can I do now? Just ignore them? There is a very slim chance that I could possibly borrow the money from a family member to pay them all off but I don't know how to start as they are now in default? Any help appreciated! Thank you!
  3. I've posted on another thread about how I'm finally facing the payday loan mess I got myself into a few years ago. I've picked through the chaos and now have a picture of who I borrowed from and roughly how they were left – a lot of these loans were going on at the same time, and my credit file must have already been shot to bits as I was being approved applications. What I'm confused about however is how to proceed with an irresponsible lending complaint if there are still amounts outstanding, or if it has been sold on? It all seems so *messy* and as more time passes the foggier it gets??!! Would anyone mind lending a hand? PAY DAY UK Repeat loans / repayments over a period - one loan unpaid now at CCJ claim stage by BW Legal PAYDAY EXPRESS Repeat loans / repayments over a period - one loan unpaid now being threatened with CJJ by BW Legal (they might follow through as they have above) 1ST STOP Repeat loans / repayments / rollovers over a period – one loan resulted in a CCJ (still have to pay this) VANQUIS CREDIT CARD I settled/paid Lowell and default on credit file MR LENDER Unpaid - default on credit file and with DCA QUICK QUID Repeat loans / repayments over a period – one loan unpaid but I eventually settled/paid the DCA - weirdly nothing on credit file SUNNY Unpaid - default on credit file and with DCA WAGEDAY ADVANCE Repeat loans / repayments over a period – paid some/maybe all but unsure if there is outstanding amount left unpaid WONGA Repeat loans / repayments over a period – I had an email saying the amount was being written off and it dissapeared from credit file SWIFT STIRLING I'm finding it difficult to piece together what I borrowed with them but I think it was two or three loans – paid some/maybe all but unsure if there is outstanding amount left unpaid LADDER LOANS Several loans that were repaid in full Urgh, such a big depressing list. The list of doom! Any help where to start would be appreciated.
  4. Hi guys, Hoping you can help me, while at uni I like many had to live on these damn things, I would pay one off then get another one out the same day to keep on top of the money which had just been paid back, The other day I got a letter from Moriarty Law Solicitors threating court action, like an idiot I agreed to pay back 50 a month to them for a 450 balance from a 300 pound loan, I can not afford to do this I made one payment and then stopped it. Today I called up and explained the situation and the customer service agent was so rude!! Quickquid unfairly lent me loans for a good 2 years I would say, without any means check and let me run up so much debt. I also have debt with 2 other lenders but they are not with DCA yet. I understand there is a gray area once it goes to a DCA so could you please help? I cant log into my account on quickquid either. I know I borrowed it so should pay it back but Moriarty Law Solicitors won't accept a plan I can afford now I missed a payment. This is just one of them - As we have advised you previously in the Notice of Default, you have failed to make payments required under your Loan Agreement with QuickQuid or to contact us to take corrective action. Loan: .... Date of Agreement: 41507 Outstanding Principal: £250 Outstanding Interest: £208.44 Outstanding Late Fees: £24 Discounts & Credits: £0 Total Amount Outstanding: £482.44 As a result, we have decided to refer your account to a Third Party Debt Collection Agency who will be in touch with you in due course. Their information is listed below. If you would like to make a payment, please contact the debt collection agency: ARC (Europe) Ltd 01932 251842
  5. Noddle seem to list normal long term loans under "Short Term" on the basis that the lender provides daily information under a new system called MODA. Is that legitimate ?
  6. I'm a keyholder and friend to an elderly gentleman. He took out a loan with Lloyds bank some years ago to purchase a mobility scooter for his disabled wife. She was repaying the loan from her disability income. A few years later, she had to replace the scooter and he got out another loan which consolidated his previous loan. She since died two years ago, he got another loan out to pay for her funeral (which consolidated his previous loan). He is finding it difficult paying this loan off, he had a meeting with a Lloyds staffmember, who advised him to take out another loan to consolidate his previous loan and pay off his overdraft. The gentleman in question is 86, and is constantly short of money - to the extent that he is survivng on Pot Noodles and fig rolls! My view is that Lloyds bank is acting recklessly and immorally, given that my friend is 86 and on a very severe budget. I would appreciate any advice anyone can give. He is extremely loyal to Lloyds bank - never a good thing, to be honest, especially in his case! Hope I posted this in the correct forum - if not, hopefully a mod can move it?
  7. Hi there, I am hoping someone can help me - I tried unsuccessfully in Sept 2015 with Egg to get PPI back on 3 loan accounts and a credit card. These were taken out in 2004 and ran for many years before I paid them off - I believe early 2010. My reason is a simple one - I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 1992 which is a lifelong chronic disease - I've had many operations and hospital stays/visits over the years, my last visit being as recent as 2 years ago. Certainly on the last loan, it was done on the phone and I was told I couldn't have the loan without taking out the insurance. I was stuck and therefore had to take it. The other applications were online at the time and I believe I never selected this product at all - at that time, these types of things were pointless for me as I couldn't get cover for the one thing I was always ill with. I dragged out the paperwork again last night and have 2 separate rejection letters from them - one relating to the loan accounts and one relating to the credit card - both from Canada Square. There is a glaring error on both which I am hoping will help me resurrect or at least re-submit. Both letters refer to 'my questionnaire' - the issue is I never filled one in - I sent a hand written letter to them with approx 3 or 4 sentences. They asked me to verify identity which was fine and then the next paperwork was we are looking at your case, followed by a rejection letter for both several weeks later. Does anyone think this is worth pursuing with them to re-open on the basis I did not fill in a questionnaire and therefore they did not have the required information to make an informed decision? I am planning on putting a letter together later today saying just that, but would like to post it here later on for advice to see if I have done it right. Any advice or thoughts are truly welcome - I'm so ill at the moment, so any money I can get from anywhere would really help me out. Okay - this is the letter that I have come up with - any advice gratefully received; Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to you to request that my original claim reference numbers COM/261626/2015 and COM/071766/2014 are re-opened based on the following information; No questionnaire was ever provided to me to complete. You refer in your letters dated 17th and 21st September 2015 on both claims to ‘your questionnaire’ implying I completed one - which I did not. The information I provided you in my original letter dated July 2015 provided minimal information and as such you would not have had all information required to make an accurate assessment of my case. This would have included the following items being missing from my claim; Employment history and benefits available from those employers - of which I can provide proof. Details of my existing Medical condition - for which I can provide extensive documentation and proof. Your staff member who completed the questionnaire without my knowledge has failed me as a customer. I was not aware of this questionnaire at any point, I have no visibility of the contents of this questionnaire. Since vital information was missing from your assessment or was provided incorrectly by a member of your staff, it has distorted the outcome of your decision and should be reviewed as a matter of urgency. Based on the above information, I am convinced that I have not been treated fairly by your Company in this matter at all. Based on the information above, I insist that these cases are reviewed by a responsible person who can deal with the matter correctly and ascertain all the facts before making any decision. I am willing to provide both a completed questionnaire and further documentation that may be required by yourselves to review this matter accurately. To ensure that this matter is dealt with to my satisfaction, a copy of this letter has been sent to your CEO by signed for post; Mr Andrew Nettleton Citigroup Centre, Canada Square, London E14 5LB
  8. Hi, everyone! I'm new here so apologies if I have or if this has been answered before somewhere! I had three student loans in 1995, 1997 and 1998. I deferred paying them for years on end up to around 2010 when I moved abroad and my salary meant I could no longer do so. However, I didn't pay the full amount they required because of my circumstances and eventually stopped paying altogether. After being sent umpteen letters for Thesis and now Link Financial / Capquest, I agreed to pay around 20 quid a month to each. I then stumbled upon this website and read something about my loans being statute barred and the fact that I might not owe anything now as there was more than a six year period where nothing was paid. Can someone just clarify this for me? If I deferred for over six years are my loans considered statue barred or not? Thanks!
  9. havent been on here for a long time but here goes My father in law took a loan out in 1990 with consumer loan company ( now defuncked) for £50k interest only. the loan was fully repaid after 5 years and transfered onto another loan ( Repayment) which had a charge on his property. After quite a few years when the loan had gone down to about 10k I took the paperwork down to a solicitor who told me that although the loan agreement was not legal the fact that it was over 25k meant that he could not claim against C/ loans. He started to get calls from CEO asking if we wanted to make a small paymet to clear the dept. At this point I smelt a rat as I have never known a bank to except a lesser amount. Just as we were about to start sniffing as to why they were trying to do a deal Consumer loans then disappeared. Last year he got a letter from manchester building society saying they had taken over the loan and they wanted to arrange a payment plan. I took some advice verbally from a solicitor to say that they were probably time barred and that unless we acknoledged the dept they would not be able to claim. but that didnt get over the fact there was a charge on the property that needed lifting. three letters later the last one threatening legal action with a copy of an agreement dated 1990 and for 5 years makes me think A they dont have a legal agreement and are trying it on and hoping we are stupid enough to pay them. B dont realise that maybe we have a potential claim. The fact that they have sent this agreement says to me there is something fishy going on. Somepnes thoughts please.
  10. Just seen an announcement that the Government is to sell off £900 million of Student Loans to the private sector for COLLECTION, it will be to the London Stock Market. Worth watching where this leads I think.
  11. Hello everyone ive had no end of problems with a company called MYJAR they registered a debt and default on my call credit report 3 months ago for a debt that was 3 years old and made out as if id only just started missing payments etc. I complained to the FOS who agreed fully and told them to update the default to the correct date. I checked last month and it the whole account had been removed again great so i thought. This month the debt is showing again but default has been removed and shows now that i'm 1 month late on repayments. I have been complaining to Mr Gumbley but had a reply stating he has left the company and now a lady called Birgit Noormagi is handling the account she is a quality & training manager at MYJAR and its been going back and for for a few days now as i wanted them to prove it was my debt etc. The lady has replied stating i took out a £300 loan ion the 19th June 2012 and they never received repayment so with letter fees and intrest the balance now is £554 . I have asked for the credit agreement for the loan she then sent me one from 2011 for when i took out a £100 loan for 14 days. I replied stating its incorrect as you must have a new credit agreement for every new loan unless its a roll over loan as advised by citizens advice she then sent me a email with what she called a credit agreement but its listed as a Borrower agreement on drawdown of new loan ? she said it links onto the credit agreement i was first issued months before for a previous loan I don't understand the (Borrower agreement on drawdown of new loan ) and questioned her on it and she replied saying its 100% correct but as a gesture of goodwill she will now remove all the charges and intrest from the account and all i have to pay is the £300 that i borrowed. I find that offer very fair and will accept it but she is still refusing to fully remove the account off my credit report she states it must reflect the true account dealings and would show as settled. If thats the case why not show all the other loans i had with them as fully up to date and paid on time ? but i really don't want a payday loan on my credit file So can anyone tell me if there is anyway of getting this all removed from my credit report i.e if the Credit agreement is incorrect they could not be allowed to put it on my file ? ive seen them remove other peoples so Any help would be very grateful Thanks
  12. Can anyone give me the latest situation in respect of claiming compensation in relation to Payday loans which are over 6 years old. I've read suggestions from 12 months ago that the Ombudsman was starting to look at these loans. What's the latest?
  13. Hi Guys, This is my 1st Post so not sure what the rules etc are. I am 25 years old and had unfortunately fallen into the trap of gambling however I have recently (2months back) started GA. The good news is that I have not had a gamble since starting the programme however the bad news is the large amount of debt it has left me in. Whilst gambling I was applying for payday loan after payday loan desperately trying to find the funds to continue with gambling. I was allowed to get payday loans easily to feed my addiction. At one point I believe I had 7 payday loans from different companies at the same time. I have paid off many payday loans however there are many that have now been sent to debt collectors. Is there anything I can do??? Any comments will be greatly appreciated - Cheers for taking the time to read
  14. Hi, This is my first time on here so sorry if this is not in the correct thread. I took a loan out in my partners name in 2015 and he's only just found out. I had a massive gambling problem then, I have tried repaying some of it but my debt spiralled out of control due to the gambling issue and I've stopped paying it! I just need some advice on how to fix this? I know probably some people will judge me for what I did and I suppose it's fair enough but any advice is appreciated. The loan was for £2200 taken with AvantCredit, they did not ask me to prove my identity either, that might've perhaps put a stop to that (I'm not blaming them). Thank you in advance
  15. Hi a bit of advice needed I had a payday loan with Next Credit. This loan was taken out in early 2013. Unfortunately due to serious debt issues I was unable to pay. Moving forward to 2016, I checked my credit file and Next credit had been reporting the loan as “late payment” for 3 years, no default. I made a complaint with them regarding this and they sent a final response in June 2016 saying “your credit file is a true reflection of the status of the loan”. I was going to raise this with the ombudsman but to be honest I forgot. I want to get this sorted I am happy to pay the balance (what currently is 2.8 times the loan amount) but I feel 3.5 years of late payment markers is unfair. If I pay this now it would be a further 6 years until this falls of my credit report. My question is what can I do, I understand I am out of time to complain to the FOS. I did make a complaint to the information commissioner's office, 4 months ago but I have not heard anything (I have chased this up and they keep saying they are busy) Is there any other options, could I file a county court claim maybe? If I can what would I file it under- i.e- mishandling of personal data? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  16. So within the past few months I had used a loan broker site in an attempt to get a loan. I don't know for sure which one so apologise on the unhelpful nature on this account. I was not accepted so thought nothing of it and moved along. A bit later on I had a random debit for £29.50 from a site I hadn't recognised and again at the end of this month the same payment occurred. I finally discovered who this was and it was a site called My Discount Codes, who offer a subscription service for some sort of discounts. Haven't a clue what they actually do since once I discovered this I demanded the account be closed and to be refunded for the money taken from me. They thought they were admirable in refunding me 25% of the funds and believe I signed up when seeking a loan - something I definitely would not have done and should surely require explicit permission - not signing up then hoping people lapse on the free trial they offer. When trying to figure out who they were and in my dealings with them, I was able to access the Zendesk helpdesk and noticed that it redirects sometimes to 'Loans Direct' (and also 'Old Brands' from My Discount Codes. A quick search of this forum shows they are well known for this sort of thing if it is the same Loans Direct company. Few questions; What are the legalities of taking details to sign up for things like this when the details were used for a completely different purpose? Who are the best bodies to address the issues I have here? What is the best way for me to go about getting a refund? Will my bank still be able to do this 2months on?

    Likely Loans

Thought I would share this Interesting but potentially scary situation Each month I get my clearscore and noddle credit reports and they often have 'offers' of available credit. This month Likely loans came up so i thought hell why not have a laugh and see if they would lend me any money I completed a few very basic details, name address phone number I then got an email saying you are approved we will do some more checks - had that type of thing before and they come back and say no thanks I did not provide my bank details nor did i sign anything Anyway today when checking my emails I found one saying here is your loan agreement and the money will be paid into your account by the end of the day . I checked and found £4K - yes £4K in my bank account. The loan agreement was supposedly signed at 22.12 on 3/5/2017 by me typing my name . It is signed in my sunday name which i almost never use, what little credit i have is in my daily name I am kind of angry With me for applying although i was just curious With them for forging my digital signature With them for paying £4K into my bank account How did they get my bank details- must be from clearscore I have arranged to transfer the money back but it means going home to get the card reader so I can set up the payment, They have promised they will remove all trace from my credit file It is odd that this month clearscore have removed all defaults from my credit file although at least 2 are still valid Not really expecting a response, just ranting Anyone who knows me will know the lengths i go to so that i do not have large sums of money in my bank account - I could quite easily right now be spending spending spending. I would love a new Mac , Ipad, Iphone
  18. Hi there, Im not sure if im posting this in the right section, im not really sure what it comes under. Me and My husband have a lot of debt outstanding with a man who has set up a finance business, he does cars on a pay weekly rate, repairs to cars and loans again on pay weekly rates. in total we pay around £185 a week back. (i know it was foolish, but when your in desperate need for money and hes willing to loan you money with no credit checks, and doesnt show on your credit file its a slippy slope) Now we are struggling to pay this money at times, and some weeks we cant pay full amount, sometimes we cant pay at all, and obviously he is getting very annoyed at this, he puts late charges on the accounts etc, but hes been known to be very violent and verbally abusive. he tells everyone hes well in with gypsies should he ever need to use them because someones not paying a debt. Now we have asked him once of we could reduce payments, which give him his due he did do, but he put alot more intrest on top of it. Then he offered to help us out with fixing the car which we stupidly accepted as its a taxi and we were having a few financial problems, whch of course resulted in more money each week. I know we've been idiots, and im not trying to get out of paying this debt, but at the minute its a vicious circle, we default, intrest gets added, etc etc. what can i do, if anything to get him to sort of consolidate the debt and freeze the intrest so i can get this stupidly huge amount of debt paid off and gone, but at a rate that i can manage? Any help would be much appreciated, Many thanks, Danielle.x
  19. Credit unions have been around in the UK since the late 1970s and are a form of co-operative and self help organisation. They were set up to offer low-cost loans of smaller amounts for people who couldn’t get affordable credit, or who were using doorstep lenders. Sadly, they are an underused resource, but they are a realistic alternative to payday loans [PDLs] and loansharks. As they are not profit-making, their rates are much lower than other high street lenders or PDL companies. There are 400 to 500 credit unions in the UK with almost a million members. As well as low-cost loans for smaller amounts, some now offer current accounts, savings and mortgages. Who can they help? Whilst the main aim of credit unions was to provide affordable loans to people who can’t get help from the banks, nowadays they also appeal to people who want to bank with an ethical organisation and benefit their local community. And because their rates are attractive, credit unions are becoming a popular form of affordable borrowing. Any member of a union can apply for a loan. How do I find a local credit union? The ABCUL website has a search facility to find a local credit union. Once you find one near you, you will still need to check the rules to make sure you are eligible to be a member. http://www.findyourcreditunion.co.uk/home There is also a helpline on 0161 832 3694.. And your local library or CAB may be able to help. Who can join? Each union will have its own rules, but generally you will need to live or work locally, or belong to the same employer or organisation as other members. For example, the NHS participates, along with some transport companies, trade unions, churches and other organisations. From 2012, organisations as well as individuals are allowed to be members of credit unions. What is the least I can save? Credit unions will let you save as little or as much as you can afford when you have money to spare, weekly, monthly or more frequently. You can make deposits at your local credit union branch or local collection points like shops, or have money deducted from your wages or by direct debit from a bank account. When you save, you know you will be helping neighbours or colleagues, rather than helping to make money for shareholders. And at the end of the year, your credit union aims to pay out a dividend on your savings, depending on how well the union has done. According to ABCUL, this can be up to 8% of what you’ve saved. Many credit unions include Life Assurance at no extra cost. How do I get an affordable loan and how much can I borrow? Loans are usually available up to around £3000. To borrow, you need to be a member of the credit union. They will take into account your circumstances and make sure you can afford the repayments. Life assurance should be built into the loan at no extra cost, so if someone dies owing money, it’s paid off by the insurance. What will it cost? This calculator helps you work out how much it might cost to repay a loan, although you would need to check with your local union. The most a credit union is allowed to charge is 26.8% interest, compared with 4000% for some payday loans! http://www.abcul.org/credit-unions/b...a-credit-union Can I pay the loan off early? Yes, there is no charge for this. If I invest, can I lose my money? Your money is protected in the same way as other savings, by the FSCS [Financial Services Compensation Scheme]. http://www.fscs.org.uk/ Credit unions are regulated by the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority [FCA]. Where do I find out more? For other information, here is a link to the ABCUL website. Or contact your local credit union. http://www.abcul.org/home

  23. I have applied to defer my student loan payments to Erudio Student Loans (firm that the government sold student loans 2). I have given them my bank statement showing I get a small amount from my parents each month (I'm not employed or on benefit and I live at home rent free). Despite having my bank statement showing my income and the source of it (my parents), they now want a letter from my parents saying how much they give me. Surely there's no requirement in law for me to do this and a bank statement proves income and source of that income. This is just blatant attempt to put pressure on me to pay them. Anyone got any advice? They say if I dont get a letter from my parents they will not defer loan payments. Help! Thanks.
  24. Hi all, Having read through many threads on this excellent site, I decided to raise formal complaints with a number of payday loan lenders. Between around 2012 and 2014 I took out around 60 payday loans. After the first few loans, I quickly found myself short of money after paying off the loans, and having to take out new ones again. Eventually I threw the towel in and started a DMP around the start of this year. My complaints were based on the loans being un-affordable, and that they should have been for short-term lending only. Complaints were raised in early October to the lenders. Here are the results so far: Pounds to Pocket - did not agree that the loans were unaffordable. However, they have cleared my outstanding loan in full. £996 written off as a goodwill gesture! : ) Lending Stream - didnt agree loan was unaffordable, but they reduced £105 from outstanding balance - refund of interest charged after i informed them of DMP - which i accepted. QuickQuid - did not agree that the loans were unaffordable. They offered me a £150 goodwill payment which I did not accept. Complaint with FOS. I am aware of recent redress ruling, but no contact from that. Peachy - This lender did not agree that the loans were unaffordable. Complaint with FOS 4Finance / Vivus.co.uk - This lender has not responded to my complaint. I dont think they operate in UK any more but they do have brands all over Europe. Does anybody know how I can contact them as they are ignoring my emails? Complaint also with FOS DifferentMoney (My Mate) - did not agree that the loans were unaffordable - with FOS Wonga - acknowledged my complaint, but not provided a response yet (still within 8 week window) Mr Lender - did not agree that the loan was unaffordable - with FOS Ladder Loans - acknowledged my complaint, but has not provided a response yet (still within 8 week window). I am aware of Dollar Financial redress scheme, no contact from that either. So... not a bad result on my complaints so far with around £1150 written off. I'll keep you all posted as the other complaints develop. My advice to anybody in similar situation to me, get those complaints in! pjb
  25. Hi, I am just wondering if anyone can advice me on what to do. I took out a student loan while at uni during the 1997-2001. I cannot remember paying or not paying towards the loan. As I understood it if you are earning £2318 or less per month (as stated on the letter sent to me by honour student) you can defer payment. I was made redundant in November 2010 and I am now self employed since January 2012. I have not been responding to their letters for the past 6 years or so as I am not earning close to that amount. I received a claimform through the post on the 15th of October from Northampton Court that I am owing £6236.16 Out of panic and confusion I didnt do anything this morning I log on to the MoneyClaim website where I filed and sent off the Acknowledgement of Service that "I intend to defend part of this claim. As I only have 14 days to do so as I do not want judgement to be entered against me as I believe the amount I owe is way less that £6236.16. My confusion is that I dont know what to do now. Please any advice/information will be well appreciated. Thanks
