  1. Why is it quicker to get a CAG page to load by double clicking ? This is not unique to CAG. If you experience slowish page loading on any site, if you double click quickly, the page is much quicker to load.
  2. Hi there, I have read some useful posts here, therefore, i followed the instruction and sent Vodafone an email already regarding my problem. basically, something happened 5 years ago with Vodafone, (after yesterday lots of conversation with vodafone customer services, online chat, according to the customer services, there was early termination fee imposed on my account, but i have been moving around of course, didn't receive any letters from Vodafone to say the outstanding balance and so on, so it has been overlooked.) Now, i am applying mortgage to buy my first home, i checked my credit report with Experian and Equifax, everything is fine. but my mortgage in principle with Barclay has been declined, due to a default, and my broker asks me to run a credit check with Call credit, which i did, and then I just realize i have a default with Vodafone on my credit report from Call Credit. the default started from 2009 Aug, it is already more than 5 years, but i can't just wait until Aug 2015 to apply a mortgage. after yesterday many conversation with different people from Vodafone, i have cleared the outstanding balance with my account with Vodafone. i know once this goes through, it will show satisfied in my credit report and so on. However, it will still look no good when i apply mortgage. I can see Lee from Vodafone has been really helpful in here, I am just wondering if Lee can look into my case, i can provide my account number and everything, and as a gesture of goodwill, the default can be removed from my account. I look forward to hearing any suggestion and advice. Many thanks Sisi

  6. I'm having an issue logging into my CAG Webmail account. At first, I wasn't 100% sure i'd ever paid for one, but on attempting to register it said the name was already taken. To the best of my knowledge, I am the only person that would ever use the username I chose. I won't post the full address to avoid spam bots picking it up, but it would be the same as my username on here, and would have had consumeractiongroup.co.uk as the domain. I did send a message via the technical help form a few days ago, but have yet to recieve even an aknowledgement that the message has been recieved.
  7. hi, Just a general question about the ads on the CAG site. Are the ads approved to be helpful to CAG members, or are they uncontrolled, and potentially the sort of companies we should be wary of?
  8. Vodafone/communication???? Not in the same sentence!! They appear to be ignoring me regarding a complaint I have with them over faulty HTC Desire C purchased from them. Long story - short! - Phone been in for repair 3 times each time coming straight back with a different fault, although was told after 1st repair I had been issued a "Brand new" handset. - As all repairs unsuccessful and heading for a 4th requested replacement or refund, but as phone now over 1yr basically told to get stuffed. Pity they seem to have forgotten they issued me a "New" one…………..but hey ho still get stuffed! - No-one in 2 stores I visited could give me Complaints address and referred me to website. - So referred myself to website and wrote to store and Customer services and again hey ho I have been ignored. - What silly billies, I did include the Ombudsman in my complaint and I know the sales of goods act and all that is on my side and if my next stop is the small claims court so be it! I started with Vodafone 20yrs ago with a Sony mars bar?? and have always gloated how good the network is especially when friends have been climbing mountains and hanging from trees, looks like I shall now be joining them!!

I know it is about bills as I have seen them open in the waste paper box before he left. No the ex tenant has really hacked me off with many other debts being persued via the address Can I send you a PM with his name, previous address and his new address before I get even angrier and inform both the OFT and the ICO that Vodafone are not naintaining accurate records. Sorry, not meant to be nasty but I am now well and truly ...... off with all his debt collection letters

  12. I use different email addresses for different sites (e.g. for this one it's consumeractiongroup@*****.plus.com) so I can identify, if spammed, where my address has been harvested from. Look what I received today:- Yes folks, it looks like the email address list of CAG may have been harvested by spammers and sc ammers, because I doubt they'd just happen across that address by accident.
  13. I use an e-mail address specifically for CAG, and have never given it out other than as part of my CAG registration . I've just been spammed on it. The (probably faked) "sender" was [email protected] , while the subject line was "It's not magic it's a method to make lots of money." It promises me untold riches via playing roulette, and has a clickable link that goes back to urlpp.com (? A redirection site?) Is this a spam using CAG ' s e-mail list (has anyone else had the same?) Is this (rather than a "leak" of CAG 's email list) just spammers "guessing" valid email combinations??
  14. as above we've not heard from Gerry for more than a month now on cag wheres he gone? dx CAG siteteam. thread created to alert twitter account

  18. Think the Aviva folder needs amending as they no longer appear to have an online customer relations team who respond to forums. If they no longer respond to posts, perhaps keep the separate folder, but delete the description about Aviva responding to posts, to save any disappointment.
  19. The top part of the CAG emblem is cut off which includes My CP, sign out, etc along the top. Tried on another PC and same thing. Help required please. Thanks team
  20. We are getting reports of people receiving spam emails to their email addresses whcih they have used to sign up to the CAG. We are checking but it seems that our email database may have been hacked. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to you. You should always be very careful when opening emails - and especially be careful about clicking links contained in them. We'll report back here as we find out any more.
  21. CONSUMER ACTION GROUP - BEDROOM TAX CAMPAIGN The Welfare reform Act is due to come into force in April 2013 which includes the Housing Benefit reforms (commonly known as the ‘BedroomTax’) that will have a dramatic impact on numerous citizens throughout the UK. The Government claims pensioners will not be affected are misleading. From October 2013 if a pensioner’s spouse is not of pensionable age, they will be required to claim the new Universal Credit and be subject to this loss of benefit as well as their pensions. It has been designed to reduce the Housing Benefit expenditure, promote increased mobility and improve work incentives but the under occupation deductions or the‘bedroom tax’ as this change has been dubbed will affect around 660,000 households throughout the UK who will be under-occupying social rented housing based on Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) definitions. Those affected tenants could lose up to £20 a week from their Housing Benefit: 14% of the full HB-eligible rent for one bedroom ‘too many’, and 25% for two or more bedrooms. Who is going to be affected? Any claimant who is deemed to have one spare bedroom or more will be affected. This includes: Ø Children under 16 of same gender expected to share. Ø Children under 10 expected to share regardless of gender. Ø Disabled tenant or partner who needs non-resident overnight carer will be allowed an extra bedroom. Ø A quarter of the people affected are Single Parents. Ø Separated parents who share the care of their children and who may have been allocated an extra bedroom to reflect this. Benefit rules mean that there must be a designated‘ main carer’ for children (who receives the extra benefit). Ø Parents whose children visit but are not part of the household. Ø Those on a Low Income/Unemployed/Vulnerable will be affected. Ø Couples who use their ‘spare’ bedroom when recovering from an illness or operation. Ø Disabled people including people living in adapted or specially designed properties. Ø Disabled people who require a spare room for medical equipment, rehabilitation equipment, need for an overnight carer occasionally will be affected. Ø Anyone that was moved to their present property under Medical Advisement and/or requested by a Medical Professional will be affected. Does the Governments Regulations define a bedroom? NO The Government’s view is that it is for landlords to specify the size of the property and that this will match what is on any Tenancy Agreement and reflect the level of Rent Charged. The bedroom tax will not take account of whether a room is a single or a double bedroom. A room either is a bedroom or is not a bedroom. What else need to be taken into consideration? Ø The Government introduced the ‘Right to Buy’ some years ago in Social Housing but didn’t put in place the required investment into replacing that social housing, now there is a shortage of Social Housing. Ø Lack of available social housing properties for those affected to move too. Ø Social Housing rents are rising more due to the change from Retail Price Index (RPI) to Consumer PriceIndex (CPI). Ø More people losing their jobs and now they will be in fear of losing their home. Ø Cost of living constantly rising. How can we Fight the Bedroom Tax Set up a local campaign group in your area. Ø To meet to discuss the Government’s Bedroom Tax with your family, friends and neighbours remember you don’t need many people to organise a first local campaign meeting. You can even get a few people together in your own front room or find out if there are free meeting spaces in a local community centre or library. Lobby your Local Councillor and MPs Ø Write to them with your reasons why you are against this bedroom tax and asking how the Government and Local Authorities have carried out their Public Sector Equality Duties. OR Ø Visit your Local Councillor or MP at their local Surgery held in your area. AWAITING SAMPLE LETTERS Lobby your Local Council Housing Association / Housing Association. Ø To ask that they consider reclassify those properties affected. AWAITING SAMPLE LETTERS What do I do when I receive a ‘Decision Notice’ of the Bedroom Tax reduction on my Housing Benefit? When you receive the Housing Benefit Decision Notice the paperwork should contain that Local Councils Appeal process so always Appeal the Decision following the Councils procedure.
  22. Cabot currently own a few of my debts which were passed to them via my bank. I am making very small monthly payments to cover the outstanding monies - I am sure Cabot would like me to pay more but I can't. However, thanks to a family member I have been offered a bit of financial assistance in the way of an interest free loan to get the debt collectors off my back. I wish to offer Cabot a settlement figure for the 2 outstanding debts (credit card & current account) so that I can bring this matter to a close. I would like to know what is the best approach and is there a recognised minimum % that can be offered by myself which they would have to accept, also are there any templates that would be suitable here on CAG that I could use. Thank you
  23. Hello, I purchased a CAG email address and got an email to say that it was activated. I've tried using my blackberry and both webmail to access the email but it tells me the user/password isn't recognised. I've tried the email address and username by themselves in the username field (where username is my username lol!) Any ideas?
  24. I sadly have been hoodwinked by them into taking one of their debt management programmes, on Friday they took £250 from my bank account however they have not contacted me since their initial cold call in January where I foolishly parted with £50 to set up my account. They are not managing my debts, in fact they do not have the details however when i asked them for a refund I have been fobbed off by them stating they will not refund me. Even though they have done nothing about managing my debt. Good luck!
