  1. hi I recently finished a full time course at the end of january and started signing on to job seekers allowance while looking for work. At the first meeting at the job centre before anything else was discussed i was told that at the start of all new claims there is a mandatory 12 weeks of daily contact. After questioning this i was told that this is a national policy for all new claims. although im not attending every day i'm getting appointments to attend 2 or 3 times per week and must email my job search activity, jobs applied for, and forward all email responses from applications. i was told this was to help me find work but after almost 2 months all it has involved is keeping them updated on my work search activity with no help whatsoever towards finding work. after searching online i cant find anything about a mandatory 12 weeks of daily contact for all new claims so suspect that it is just some local thing. can anyone let me know if this is a national or local scheme? i expect that things like this are intended for people who who need help or encouragement towards looking for work rather than everybody, and as i was placed on this before anything else was discussed they have no reasons whatsoever to suspect that i might need this extra attention. Is there any national criteria to determine who gets placed on this daily contact which i could use to complain & be placed on the normal fortnightly signing?

The money would be with you within three days, and you won’t have to claim for it as it’ll be automatic.   6. My car insurance expired yesterday and I arranged cover with another provider. Today I got an email from my previous insurer telling me that my policy had been renewed. I'm going to cancel it but can they lawfully charge me "admin" charges or other fees

But today I have been wondering why more people (even most people) didn't vote for the green party? This article in The Independent states a survey of half a million people was taken and if people were voting on policies, then the green party comes first instead of fifth! I think scrapping all benefits and replacing it with Universal Automatic Citizens Income is nothing short of genius. I was dreaming of a world like this and it was good ha ha. Scrapping tuition fees, free pensions for all at current levels or better, free public transport, safe cycle lanes, policies on having clean, healthy air to breathe etc. etc. just seem practical and responsible to me?

  9. Dear All, I have been charged to cancel (set-up fees) an automatic renewal of a home contents policy I did not want. Budget Insurance claim that they sent me a letter 17.09.14 to remind me that my policy was due for renewal. I absolutely did not receive any correspondence from them. I received an email from them at 18:52 the day before to say that the policy would renew at midnight (giving me around 5 hours to contact them). After complaining over the telephone, they said they would not charge £35.00, but would instead charge me £17.00 to cancel the renewal (or rather the set-up fees). It might not be a great deal of money, but it is to a full-time student like me. Anything I can do? All the best, Milly
  10. Hi there folks, just wondering if you could help me a little. I have had a account with k & co (previously great universal) for over 10 years now. After having my laptop repaired i asked to extend the guarantee which works out just as much for a year as it was for the previous 4 years (but that's another matter) Anyway, whilst in email conversation with a customer service rep, he mentioned that all insurances automatically renew when the policy ends. I was totally unaware of this and could well still be paying insurance for items i no longer have!!! Ive read the small print on the back of insurance policy's i was sent and it only states that guarantee will automatically renew if it has been extended yet the customer service rep states all insurances do it. Im obviously digging deeper into this this and have demanded that they tell me exactly what insurances are still running and what is on the auto re-newel. If it turns out that im still paying for items upto 10years on and wasn't made aware of the automatic renewal system, do you think there is any way of re-claiming the money back? Im livid as nowhere in the documents or insurance policy does it state the renewal happens with all insured items! Thanks in advance, Amy.
  11. Is there any way i can get them to start going this automatic ? for the past 8 year i have had to chase them by going to my local hmrc office and handing in my p60's but yet all my friends seem to get theres sent automatic without having to do any chasing
  12. Hi, Cashgenie keep rolling over my account automatically. On 25/07/2012 I applied for a £150 loan, which came with a £45 interest charge for a total of £195 repayable. Since then, I have paid: 25/08/2012: £45 25/09/2012: £45 25/10/2012: £45 25/11/2012: £45 25/12/2012: £45 25/01/2013: £45 25/02/2013: £45 25/03/2013: £45 25/04/2013: £45 That's £405! What's the best way of breaking this cycle? They've had more than enough money from me now, but I'd rather not end up with another default on my credit file.

Hi, not really sure which forum this would belong in so hoping that somebody can move it for me once posted. basically my problem is this, last year I joined up to one of the many local golf clubs, paying for this by way of monthly direct debit (april 2011 - april 2012) this was fine, but come the start of a new year, I decided that i wouldn't continue as I didnt want to be tied to one club, and to be fair, I'm not currently playing enough to warrant paying £60/month. This month, my mortgage bounced, and as I was sure i had funds in there, i checked my account, only to discover that the club were still taking for membership. I called them earlier today, and it turns out that in their t&c (which I signed but as is so often the case, didn't read) they automatically renew the membership, unless i tell them not to, they have agreed to cancel the agreement, but refuse to refund money which in my opinion, they have conned me out of! can they do this, as I feel this to be completely wrong, and if I were to take this further, would the t&c stand up in court, as in my opinion, I don't think that the small print is read by most people (unless it's just me ) Would appreciate any help on this one, cheers, S.

Defaults that are your credit file, are they supposed to come off yourcredit file automatically after the 6 years, or do you have request the creditagency to do it? The reason I ask, is that on my file there are 'some' defaults, but theirdefault dates are pass the six years point... Thanks
