  1. UPDATE, yes, as Mr P says I am on ESA(assessment) so should only need to communicate with INGEUS voluntarily. Another missed call today as the blocking does not seem to have worked. I emailed my old JCP adviser (he was one of the good ones) and he will be having words with them for me as he is not happy I am being pestered.
  2. If you are on the list for a council place presumably you are claiming some form of benefit? If so a DWP award letter?
  3. "Instead, they would be paid the youth allowance, paid at the same rate as JSA - £57.35 a week." ...whilst claiming young people claiming JSA have dropped and unemplyment is down. Yeah, great, work with no job at the end of it and thus putting paid employees out of their jobs. A big round of applause for Cameron
  4. I was under the WP and the lovely INGEUS from Feb-14 until I signed off JSA and moved to ESA (assessment) from August 2014. In the last three days I have had letters about appointments and four missed calls from them. The number still comes up on my phone and although I reject it and block it somehow it still gets through - I never answer and they leave no message. They are annoying me now, whilst on ESA I want NOTHINg to do with them and I presume that is my right? Even when back on JSA I struggle to take them seriously and all they do is make me ill. Should I email their head office and state all of the above (not the bit about them being useless of course even though I would like to) and ask them to stop harrassing me? I assume I have no obligation to them whilst on ESA and everything is voluntary?
  5. UPDATE - RESOLVED Letter from HMRC this morning - their mistake, two JSA sources - recalculated with nothing owing.
  6. Yes, that would be great wouldn't it? Put a person in to poverty by not giving them the funds to eat or heat their home and then stop their housing benefit so they are at risk of eviction. Way to go at helping people out - mind you, we are talking about a Tory regime so nothing would surprise me
  7. But where would you draw the line? Say, for example anxiety and depression. I did not have this when I started work and was with the same company for 19 years. The last 8 years I was with them I was on ADs and having counselling. Although I did not disclose the actual condition to them I sought advice from HR who advised me to simply say to my manager that if I needed time off I should speak to them in confidence. Obviously it is 2 way, if you are dismissed for being unwell that is a case in its own right - I am not sure of what legalities there are for discloing medical conditions to a new employer although this may come up on an application form such as when you disclose something on holiday insurance
  8. I agree totally. Also, what if you have regular mental health, anxiety and depression problems? Personally I regularly see a counsellor, am on ADs and beta blockers and being on JSA and the WP made it worse for me. It was not that I was not job ready, I had a £30k+pa job for 19 years it was being ground down by the pathetic WP and stupid courses which I was on with people that could not read or write or switch a computer on and had never worked in their lives. Try being on these courses with people who want shop work or a cleaners job (no disrespect to people that do that by the way) when you managed 6 staff, was responsible for data anaylis and financial control and regularly standing in for senior management at meetings - how is this tailored to meet the needs of the client? Luckily I am on ESA (Assessment) and have been since August 2014 and have not been called yet BUT as soon as I am I will fail with 0 points and be put back on JSA, then back to WP and guess what - my symptoms and hard work at getting better will get worse again and I cannot reclaim ESA? So, I have to actively be looking for work when in a bad way? In a way WHEN I am back on JSA I hope I do get worse as I could quite easily be prones to a full nervous breakdown - then what?
  9. Where would that leave people with short term bouts mental health, anxiety and depression (say 3 months)? Part of the recovery is time with family and friends and trying to get better not attend work programmes and doing CVs and job searching which will make them WORSE.
  10. Absolute DISGRACE if true. The whole point of there being JSA and ESA is that JSA claimants are deemed ready for work and physically fit and mentally capable enough to seek work and job search/attend appointments etc. When on ESA a medical professionalhas deemed you not fit or well enough and undergoing treatment which prevents you either long or short term from seeking and undertaking work. I cannot see how this is lawful in any way - there will be no differentiation between a JSA and ESA claimant
  11. Another good one was old computer games - I am 40 so was in to my Commodore 64. I used to buy the games, get them home and then record the games (before they had security which meant you could not copy them like the new stuff) on a blank tape - took game back for a refund saying "got this as a present and someone bought me the same one" so had the game and money!
  12. My only advice re UJM is DO NOT USE IT - it is a total waste of time. I have never known ANYONE get a job from it and I spoke to around 50 people in the space of a year when on JSA. All repeated job, or fale ones or CV collecting scams. At best, use it for a 5 min check and to record activity but BACK THIS UP with your own records as they mysetriously seem to go missing on UJM - and sanction!
  13. Great news, happy it has all worked out well for both of you. Re sending stuff back - why not? As jasta mentioned I also done the same, new shirt for a big night out and as long as it survived beer, kebab etc iron the next day and take it back for a refund - my Father worked in menswear so made it look like it had never been worn - saved me a fortune!
  14. Maybe I am a cynical sod but I am still a firm believer that when UJM goes 'down' itis done on purpose to trap people in to a sanction. What you have to remember is there are plenty of ways to record your job search activity other than UJM which quite frankly is not fit for purpose and never has been. Apart from the first 2 weeks of signing on I never used UJM after that but luckily my JCP adviser at the time understood (basically he also knew it was a pile of dung) I still maintain that a lot of jobs on there are fake or agencies gathering information. I will give a prime example of this: A client of mine at the local work club where I volunteer was mandated to apply for a job at Marks and Spencers warehouse in North Essex - the UJM had the job on the site. Before I done anything on behalf of my client I called M&S head office and asked about the job - can you guess what the conversation entailed? Yep, there WAS NO JOB. I wrote a note to JCP my client could take in with details of the call, a number , a contact name basically saying if you want to check this please call this person. I would not touch UJM - delete it and record your job searches in your own way. Whilst you are at it, revoke JCP access to your UJM as well
  15. That is what I wanted to say but I have bigger battles without worrying about these 'people' at the moment. Rather than get in to a slanging match I ignored the call (and vlocked number on mobile) and have also blocked emails from the email address as well. They have nothing to 'offer' me and were no help in the 6 months I was there so as far as I am concerned I am done with them. Well, maybe not as I started in Feb-14 so officially with them until Feb-16 but as on ESA for now they have no power over me.
  16. Thanks all, no treatment apart from aspirinat the moment - I am on what is called "watch and wait" jasta - a stone overweight? I am SIX stone overweight! Diet starts Monday for my own good!
  17. Almost? Let's be honest - it is not almost, it IS ....TOTALLY USELESS WASTE OF SPACE PROVIDER
  18. Out of the blue this morning I had an email from Ingeus from my 'adviser' even though I am on ESA at the moment: Dear XXXX I hope that you are well. It is now approaching 6 months since you were with us before unfortunately moving to ESA from JSA. This is just a courtesy email to see how you are and to offer any support that we can give should you need it whiklst on ESA. Please do drop me an email if you would like to book anappointment. Warm regards XXXX Apart from this I also had a missed call from the general Ingeus number (I ignored it) I also plan to ignore the email. I have nothing to say to them and they won't be getting a life story from me - especially after my recent diagnosis.
  19. I claim ESA and HB at the moment. My treatment at the moment is only regular blood tests as well as 3 monthly examinations and scans - no chemotherapy or radiotherapy as it is what my consultant classes as "watch and wait" My condition - ET, was not a form of cancer a while back but it has now been classed (even though mild and very treatable) a cancer. I don't think I get any more entitlement as I would be classed as 'well' as not having intrusive treatment but obviously looking for work is off my radar at present
  20. Hi all. After having a routine blood test last week that showed a very high platelet count and seeing a consultant (was refered urgently) I now have a condition called essential thrombocythaemia which is a blood disorder - obviously I was very worried as I thought it was leukemia but my red and whte blood cell count is normal. I now need to be on aspirin for life and have regular blood tests and scans to see how I am getting on - as well as losing weight and getting a proper excercise regime. I am sure you are not concerned about that, I will obviously deal with it my own way and after reading it seems life expectancy and prognosis is very good (practically normal) if I make changes to my lifestyle. I am on ESA(assessment) at the moment and not been called to ATOS or whateverf it is now for assessment yet (nearly 6 months) but: (a) Do I need to inform anyone about this diagnosis? (b) Money is not my priority but would I be entitled to anything else (worth asking)? © What happens if I am classed 'fit for work' and have to go back to JSA? The stress of being back under that regime and Ingeus will make me ill My condition although very mild and not life threatening is still classed as a blood cancer even though it is very treatable and prognosis is very good. Many thanks.
  21. Mentioned that many times on here which is why I found my own voluntary work for 3 days for a few hours each day - covers me and I am doing something *I* want to do and feeling I really am keeping my skills and references up to date. Do something YOU want to do not what you are FORCED to do
  22. You see this is where I have a REAL PROBLEM with so called 'work experience' Fair enough if you are trained on the till and to serve customers and are learning a skill like taking money and giving change and interacting with the public but I bet all you get to do is sort black bags of junk and folding stuff up etc. Sorry, my position on this has not changed - it is free labour what a volunteer (off their own back) would do or a paid member of staff would do - it is NOT work experience unless you have a job description and doing something worthwhile
  23. OK, well take a 'holiday' You are allowed a break from JSA job searching
  24. Totally inappropriate - 35 hours could mean, if applying for a decent job and having to do reserach, amend CV, new covering letter, application form around 5-6 hours per job. I know I have spent 4-5 hours on a single application before therefore manybe only apply for 5-6 jobs per week. If however they want you do use the same CV and same CL using one click you can apply for hundreds per week - it is not QUANTITY but QUALITY. If you are not in the mood use one click, if you fancy the job, do it properly. I probably done around 20 hours pw when on JSA
  25. Erm, go sick and use the 14 days? I WOULD!
