  1. Admin if you have to merge my posts pease can this be the main one as it has a more relevant title to my problem. LPA Receivers have taken over my properties with no court order & no agreement from me. 2 of the properties are empty & the receivers are doing nothing about it, how would I stand if I were to go ahead & let the properties with full knowlege of the problem to the tennants?
  2. Hi, Thought i would post here to make sure i'm not going to do anything in error. Ive recently put myself in a better position financially so i thought it was about time to fix past mistakes. During a rough part of my life i defaulted on my overdraft and credit card which ive been running from for a couple of years. i got my credit report and it states on it the amounts. £2000 for the bank & £1000 for the Credit Card, i have the funds to pay both of these off in full. Now here is my concern, i've contacted Natwest and have the contact details for both offices to write a letter explaining that i'm able to pay both balances off in full. Is this the correct thing to do? or is there a procedure i take first? Any help is appreciated. Chris.
  3. Hi Please could someone advise me. I have wrote to Natwest and asked to set a repayment plan up to pay back my overdraft as I am experiencing financial hardship. I asked for charges and interest to be frozen. I had a reply and had to fill in an income and budget form which i did. This morning I received a letter stating they have my form but will not accept any arrangements and charges etc will still be added, unless i ring them. I really do not feel up to talking to them, so is there anything i can say to them in order for them to accept my offer. All my other creditors have accepted by letter. Please help. Thanks so much.
  4. Having a sort out have found a letter to the other half natwest account being sent to morecroft This account was opened online but never had any money paid in or taken out card has never been activated The balance stands at £330.85 overdrawn! How is the best way to deal with this apart from ignoring morecroft? Thanks
  5. Hi guys this is my first post, I took a loan with Natwest in 2007 and was told when applying that I must take the PPI to get the loan. A year later I cancelled the PPI and made a complaint to RBS, it took them 12 weeks to investigate and they didn't uphold my complaint, they said that they couldn't locate the call records but as I had signed for the loan that meant I had signed for the PPI and was aware of it. At the time I had been having money problems which was a reason for me trying to get a refund of the payments at the time, Natwest eventually defaulted me in December 2008, I moved address shortly after and I have not made a payment since about September 2008. I received a letter from RBS in July this year saying that they would like to look into my original complaint again and asked if I could sign and return the form to confirm my new address, I called RBS and they confirmed my details by phone and I was told that I would receive a decision in a few weeks. I'd heard nothing for about 4 weeks until I received a text message from RBS-PPI on the 27th August which said "Dear Mr RacingRandom Re PPI ref: *****. We confirm your payment has been made by cheque. Please allow 10 working days for receipt" I hadn't received any letter or form to sign to accept an offer from RBS, just this text message. On Friday I received an offer letter from them dated the 20th August, nine days before I received the text message, in it they make the offer which I am happy with but as you probably know they state that any funds will first be used to offset and the remainder to myself. The loan is still unpaid with a balance much higher that the refund for the PPI, the loan is showing on my credit file until the end of September and it hasn't been sold, I also have a Natwest overdraft unpaid for the same amount of time. So I am wondering if anyone has any experience or has heard of RBS not offsetting against an old debt, I'd love to receive a cheque and I could do with the money  I was fully expecting any refund to be offset against the loan but the letter and the text message are conflicting. I also thought that any offer the bank makes has to be accepted by myself but I never received an offer just an outright decision, is this normal? Thanks in advance for any help guys.
  6. Hi all, Decided to register with the forum as i noticed something peculiar when having a look atr my credit rating online this evening. A year or so ago my NatWest bank account went into default (apologies if I use phrases out of turn, I'm no expert). Checking over my credit report this evening I noticed that I could see the balance of my bank accounts, my other accounts are correct but I noticed something strange with the NatWest one. Under balance, it reads £460. What exactly does this mean? I'm not aware of any money going into the account, I moved home and even though I notified them of my address change, I've had no correspondence from them. Next to the account it says in big read letters 'Default', with it being a credit rating website, the information I could get regarding it is limited. I've not used the bank or even thought about it for the past year and in all honesty, I've forgotten most of my account information from NWB. Could anybody shed any light on this? Does the account have a balance of £460 or is it just wishful thinking? Thanks all, C.

  8. Hi, just wondered if anyone can offer advice on this claim with Natwest that I am handling for my partner, its with the Ombudsman at the moment, I'll try and be concise as I can the steps taken so far. Claim submitted early 2013 to Natwest Natwest failed to reply, resubmitted claim Rejected by Natwest as they say no evidence of credit card/PPI ever existed, despite a copy of the original opening of account/PPI letter being provided at the initial claim Disputed as original letter confirming PPI on new credit card account produced again Natwest still disputed account existed Claim raised to Ombudsman Recognition of account gained Current position July 2014 -Ombudsman advised Natwest cannot trace any payments for PPI. The PPI payments were cancelled early 2000's and payments were taken from the credit card it was set up with. The card number changed twice in its lifetime, once due to fraud and once due to upgrade to a gold card so I can kind of understand why they could not trace it back straight away. Account still exists but currently has a small credit balance as the remaining balance was shifted on a zero interest deal. Is the onus of proof on the card holder or the bank to provide evidence of payments of PPI. Given that it is so old now (account dates back to 1994) and we don't have any statements from back then, are we at the end of the line? Any advice welcome.
  9. I am being chased by Capquest for a debt of £550 which came about due to bank charges with Natwest from 2006. Back then I had no income and was unable to pay the bank charges. Natwest closed my account in 2007 and I never heard any more about it until December 2011 when a demand letter arrived from Capquest. I ignored the letter because I had never borrowed any money from Natwest and therefore considered that I owed them nothing. Many more letters arrived threatening me with all sorts of terrible things but nothing happened. In Feb 2013 after 15 threatening letters from Capquest I obtained my credit reference agency credit report which showed the alledged debt and Capquest were the owners of the debt. I noticed there was a default date recorded of 23 May 2007. Therefore the alledged debt would become statute barred on May 23 2013. Sure enough at the end of May 2013 this default was removed from my credit report as I expected. Despite this, Capquest continued to send letters but offered a large reduction for prompt payment. I ignored them so they recently passed the debt onto CCS Collect who have sent me more demand letters. In their latest letter thay say if they don't hear from me they will pass the debt back to Capquest for further enforcement. Seems to me that these DCA's are barmy. I wonder why Natwest didn't take me to court back in 2006 and also why Capquest didn't take me to court before the statute barred date. Maybe because the alledged debt purely consisted of bank charges there would have been little chance of them obtaining a CCJ against me. I have recently considered sending the statute barred letter to the DCA to stop them bothering me. However, I find it quite amusing how they are happy to keep wasting money on paper, envelopes and postage charges chasing statute barred debt. By ignoring all their letters they must surely realise that they can't frighten me into paying, so why do they continue? I know they are legally entitled to chase statute barred debt but surely by now they would have realised they had bought a lemon. Well they say you can't educate pork.
  10. Hi all, I’ve now been a CAG’er for almost 2 years and during this time I’ve been very grateful of the help, guidance and assistance (and success !) that I’ve been fortunate enough to benefit from. Unfortunately, for the first time (in absolutely ages !) I’ve just become a worried man, once again ! The reason for my worry is due to a longstanding, Natwest (joint) Account and specifically the overdraft facility. This overdraft has gradually crept up to its current level of approx. £4500. The reasons were due to redundancy and a huge amount of bank charges. Despite my desperate plea’s Natwest wouldn’t entertain freezing charges / interest – when in fact all other institutions did, on request ! (At this point I’d like to add I issued a claim for approx. £800 of unfair bank charges, in early 2008 AND superseded this with an additional approx. £200 claim (thus making just over £1000, in total) in the middle part of this year (2009). This remains on hold !) Over many months Natwest have ‘harassed’ me prior to shifting this to their representatives Triton Credit Services, Irwin Mitchell Solicitors and Shoosmiths. All these institutions have been CCA’ed BUT Irwin Mitchell have now decided to issue proceedings ! I have, today, received a “Claim Form” for Northampton County Court “Bulk Centre”, however, this has been issued specifically to my wife, as opposed to me ! If it was to me I wouldn’t have been so bothered ! I should add that when Triton were CCA’ed DIRECT all I received was a reply from Natwest (not Triton !) returning my £1 postal order AND stating they weren’t able to action as they didn’t hold my signature on record and wanted another form of identification. Furthermore despite me quoting them the EXACT SAME REFERENCE, that they quoted me, they then claimed they couldn’t relate this to any account and therefore wanted me to provide a sort code and account number ! This was the last I heard, from Triton. Next came Irwin Mitchell who were also CCA’ed DIRECT. Again all I received, initially, was a reply from RBS (not Natwest OR Irwin Mitchell this time !) returning my £1 AND stating they weren’t able to action as they didn’t hold my signature on record and wanted another form of identification. Furthermore despite me quoting them the EXACT SAME REFERENCE, that they quoted me, they also then claimed they couldn’t relate this to any account and therefore wanted me to provide a sort code and account number ! This was (so I thought !) the last I’d hear, from Irwin Mitchell before Shoosmiths then tried. Shoosmiths were CCA’ed too and I still await any reply from them. Unfortunately, today, the “Claim Form” arrived, from Irwin Mitchell, on behalf of Natwest. I’m afraid this is the point that I now become ‘snookered’ ! Sorry this post has been so lengthy but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE can someone advise how I proceed from here – I guess I’m now left with no choice other than to respond to the Claim within the 14 day timescale ? Do I still have any other options ? If I defend what is the likelihood of them not actually turning up, to court ? Can I attend in lieu of my Wife – who I’d like to keep out of this ? Can anyone offer me any guidance and also does anyone else have any experiences of Irwin Mitchell Solicitors ? Thanks, R
  11. NatWest has issued new terms and conditions for its credit cards: One refers to recurring transactions and reads as follows: These are regular payments (including for an indefinite period) That you (and/or an additional card holder) authorise a 3rd party to collect from your account. (f). Generally, once authorised a transaction CANNOT BE STOPPED, although we may be able to stop it if we receive satisfactory evidence that it has been cancelled. Such trnsactions are not covered by (the direct debit guarantee). I wonder if this applies to NW Visa debit card trans actions?
  12. I have an unpaid personal unsecured loan from Natwest which was taken out many moons ago. It has now appeared on my credit report as a closed and "settled" account. I haven't paid off the full amount and I haven't agreed as reduced settlement so what could this mean? It is not showing on my report against any DCA.
  13. Hi all I had a current account with overdraft with NatWest (opened August 2010, defaulted November 2011). The default amount registered with the CRA's was incorrect and so I have been chasing NatWest to correct this and challenged the entry with Experian, Equifax and Call Credit. Call Credit completely removed the default entry after NatWest failed to substantiate it however Experian and Equifax refuse to change the record unless NatWest instruct them to. NatWest obviously claim that they haven't made any mistakes. To try and get some evidence to prove that the amount was incorrect I sent off a SAR to NatWest on the 07th April 2014. They missed the 40 day deadline and have been providing their response in dribs and drabs with bits arriving from them on the 23rd May, 24th June and 03rd July. One item still outstanding is a copy of their default notice and in their latest letter (03rd July) they have said that will be unable to send a copy of the default notice because "These are system produced letters and we are therefore unable to provide copies". My question is; is this an acceptable response from them or should they still be able to provide a copy of the default notice? If they should then how should I proceed with forcing them to provide one or (if they aren't producing a copy because a notice was never issued) does this mean I can realistically challenge the default in its entirety? Thanks in advance for any and all advice Edit: Just read dx's response to a vaguely similar thread. Doesn't seem right that a default notice isn't required for current accounts when reading the ICO's guidance on registering defaults (section 4, paragraph 5 on page 6)? Apologies - I would include links to both the thread and ICO guidance but I don't have enough posts to include links.
  14. Hi all! I'm new to this site and have no experience with approaching lenders or crediters. I have an arranged OD with Natwest which started off small a few years ago (I'm 21 and I think I made my first OD request at 18) and since I have built it up to 1800. This is irresponsible of me but I was young needed some extra cash and didn't think much of it. Knowing what I know now and having matured I'd day ODs should be limited to 21 and over. I can not afford to pay the interest charges on this account as I have other debts I need to pay. I took out a 2k loan with amigo loans in December because I wanted to rid myself of the demoralizing overdraft and another bad decision was that I didn't then cancel my overdraft and what with getting a new flat and christmas where my partners pay was screwed up I've spent the overdraft again on deposit money and christmas, etc. I haven't yet contacted the bank and I would like some guidance as to where I should start and any templates to send the bank would be much appreciated. I have 900 left to pay off of my Amigo Loan which is no hassle, I haven't missed a payment of 206 a month. I have opened a new account with barclays and re arranged direct debits with my virgin media and o2 and amigo loans etc as well my salary. My natwest account now has nothing in it and all direct debits have been cancelled. Again thanks for any help in advance!
  15. NatWest Bank has announced that it is to lose up to 361 branch managers as part of a programme of cut-backs. But 116 new - more senior roles - are to be created, leaving a net loss of 245 jobs. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-27911215
  16. Morning all, I sent off a CCA Request to NatWest around mid-March that was signed for at their Birmingham office on 17/03/2014 - that request included the £1 statutory fee in the form of a postal order. I have kept the tracking number for this item and have the surname of the signatory. I have since received notification that my debt has been passed on to a company called APEX, who were actually surprisingly helpful when I rang them. They've advised me to get back in touch with NatWest and in the mean time they will ensure they don't bombard me with calls and letters. When ringing the NatWest call centre, they seemed baffled at my request and insisted on treating me like a standard collections customer who just doesn't want to pay. Even after explaining that I have submitted a CCA request, they continued to say I need to contact APEX. Note, I did not send a follow up letter because I wrongly assumed that my initial letter regarding the debt had led them to drop the matter as I had received no further contact since last week when I received the APEX notification. Just wondering the best way to go about this now, as I am keen to ensure there are no adverse credit score implications. Thanks in advance.
  17. Hi All, First off I have made a similar post in the Barclays sections too – hope that's OK and not seen as a duplicate post ? I know, I know – much written already but I have spent the last few days reading through the many threads on here and elsewhere to try and get my head around things ! As with others who have have “left it late” why I have never got on with this earlier I don't know.......anyway... My enquiry just relates to Late Payment charges only. I have a NatWest VISA and Mastercard that go back some years when Barclays gave you just Barrclaycard VISA and other banks Access. From late 90's to mid 2000's all four cards had fluctuating and at times high balances that resulted in quite (ahem) a bit of interest together with late payment charges varying from, initially £10, £15, £18, £20 and then back to allegedly “acceptable” £12. Most of these charges were made over 6 years ago. From mid 2008 all card balances were cleared and have since been operated without any late payment or interest charges. I have all my original statements going back over this and earlier periods so have documentary evidence. There is about £1200 in total Late Payment charges of which £350 or so is above the £12 figure. So I guess my questions based around “Can I still claim ?” are: 1. Should I claim for the charges only even though most are over 6 years. I have seen some mention on other forums that over 6 years and its Statute Barred and cannot be claimed whereas on here I see some that have had success. 2. If I was to claim should it be for all the charges and add interest (compound) – if so at what rate (Statement ?) and to what date - my claim date or when the balances were cleared ? 3. Should I just claim for the charges over the complete period but only those over £12 ? Plus interest ? 4. Not bother too late Thanks very much in advance for any info/input. Blagton.
  18. Maybe I'm one of the most unluckiest people in the world, Natwest have really taken not just the biscuit but the pack... As part of my account benefits, I get the identity theft assistance and credit reporting through CPP and Experian. Naturally when signing up they couldn't confirm my identity so I needed to send in some docs. These were; - Colour copy of passport - 2 x Original Utility Bills These were sent as a mobile phone bill and also a bank statement. This was 16 days ago through Natwest Post Service to their Chatham office then on to Experian. This was at the advice of their staff members in branch. So i phoned Experian yesterday and today who advised the documents still haven't arrived and that I should contact Natwest. I have done so over the last 3 Days chasing. I sent a letter last week for something else which they have scanned on to their system. However the covering letter from the documents hasn't been scanned. I've been passed from pillar to post and now I need to know my next step. When speaking to a complaint handler, I asked in the event that they have lost them, what would they do to ensure my protection? Naturally their response at this time was nothing as they need to fully investigate, however I also asked about if they would register with CIFAS as a basic.. "Sorry sir, what's CIFAS? I've been here 15 years and have no idea what that is? " Now I get not everyone is going to be clued up on it but they should have some basic knowledge of what CIFAS Is, all my training I had for my financial services included CIFAS information etc. And I would expect complaint handlers to be trained in this to some degree... I want to know what to do, as most of you know, I've already had to fight off a case of identity fraud before. If they have gone missing, they have exactly what they need to ruin my credit file all again. Your advice is well thought off in my mind and maybe I've missed something.
  19. Hi all, Long story short, applied for a mortgage with Halifax and Natwest, but due to a default thought it would be impossible. Halifax turned us down point blank due to late payments and the default and with the new rules for mortgages credit went from A+ or something to a C+. Anyway Natwest have accepted us and arranged for a survey to be done. Which is getting done next Friday. Which is great. What happens after this? Is there anything that could be done so they decline it? Just after best and worse case scenario really Thanks all
  20. Sorry for silly question but do I send to my old Fenchurch Street, London branch address or is there somewhere else that I should send it to ? Cheers g/l
  21. Hello! I have a graduate account with Natwest. My overdraft is £1600, I know very silly of me but then it's offered to a student with no money it's very tempting! After uni I was unemployed for a year, Natwest were pretty awful. I have NO direct debits active on my account. I've been charged £36 a go everytime I go past my unarranged overdraft (out of my job seekers money). Thing is, I only take money out when it's says it's available on my online banking app. It's pretty annoying to get charged when I take money out which is apparently available only to find out it's not. 2 months ago my balance was -£1588 so I withdrew £10 from a cash point and think no more of it. I visited tesco earlier in the day and spent money, which apparently was pending and didnt come out until 2 days later, leaving my account as £1608. Natwest charged me £96 for this as I had no way of paying back into my account to make it level again for a couple of weeks. I've been unemployed since university but I've recently found employment which I start next week. I've opened an account with barclays and plan to get my wages paid into that, then every payday pay a bit towards my natwest overdraft. I'v sent a letter complaining about them charging me, and charging me when my account was already past the overdraft limit and received this reply. Is this a good reply to them or is it worth me chasing it some more? Is there anyway I could close the account and set up a payment plan with Natwest? £2385.99 of charges in 9 years is pretty disgusting and even getting the £92 back would be great. Letter in attachments, Thank you for your help
  22. Please I need advice on how to handle this Restons and his allied Arrow global chasing me for SB Natwest credit card. The claim was for credit card, according to the claimant it was assigned to arrow global, last payment to the account was in July 2007, since then I have no contact with the original creditor except 4 months bill sent after the last payment in 2007 and letters from DCA in 2008. I was not aware that the account was assigned and I can’t recollect receiving any Notice of Default. I have checked my credit file with Noddle and nothing showing NATWEST/ARROW GLOBALL.
  23. Hi folks, having yet more "fun" with Natwest credit card, due to one thing and another I have not been able to make my payments for the last two months, I contacted Natwest and explained the situation and gave them outgoing and income figures over the phone, was then told they would send out an income and expenditure form for me to fill out and return which I have done with the same figures and also a covering letter as requested explaining my situation and making a repayment offer I think I could afford, which I did, today got a letter back from them saying the figures are incomplete and the offer is not satisfactory and asking me to ring them again with figures! So yet again it seems Natwest are acting as a law unto themselves, they are still charging defaults and interest whilst having been told I cannot service the existing debt, is there anything else I can do they seem to ignore anything that doesnt suit them! Just to show the difference my wife rang Barclaycard with the same problem and they agreed to freeze the interest for a year and accept £50 per month and review again in a year and that was all over the phone with no hassle!
  24. Hi, I've got following situation. I have personal bank account with NatWest since 2001 and business bank account since 2002 (sole trader business account). Been sole trade since 2002 but in 2007 incorporated limited company and opened another business bank account for the ltd. The sole trader and ltd have been operating in parallel for 2-3 year and then all fixed assets and liabilities of sole trader have been transferred to the ltd. The sole trader got a substantial overdraft facilities which have been paid by the ltd since the merger. NatWest approached me by requesting a repayment of the overdraft in full. I replied that I can't afford but I'm happy to convert the overdraft into a business loan. They said OK but the consolidation loan has to be a personal loan, not business. As it is a business liability, I have provided all evidence like annual accounts for the sole trader, for the ltd and for the use of the overdraft NatWest is refusing to discuss conversion of the overdraft into business loan. The only option they offer me is a personal loan on the basis it was given to a sole trader. Any thoughts and suggestions how to deal with NatWest in this case will be much appreciated. Thank you
  25. I've just had the forms from NatWest for PPI on loans going back as far as 10 years. I'm a little confused as I was told (by NatWest) that there was a time limit of 6 years on making these claims. There are a number of reasons why I believe I'm eligible to reclaim the PPII was told repeatedly that not taking PPI meant I was more likely to be refused a loan My employment over that period changed between employed and self-employed, the staff who completed my loan application knew this and didn't imform me that this would mean I might not be covered by the PPI A staff member told me to always put 'employed' as my employment status even though I changed between statuses & advised during one application I would soon be changing employment status - they didn't mention any of the implications regarding self-employment I have a number of debts outstanding with NatWest that I am paying in an informal debt management arrangement as well as a number of debts with other providers. My NatWest current account has been closed in so far as I can no longer use it. However it is open in the sense that I can still use the sort code and acc number to make payments to pay off the overdraft I had when I closed it to begin paying off my debts in an arrangement. What I'd like to know is: Can NatWest force me to use the money to pay debts I have with them or can I request they pay me by cheque? (I have debts with other companies so I would be required to allocate the money equally between them if I was to use it on my debts) Am I best giving all the reasons why I think I was mis-sold or just to stick to one and keep my answers on the form brief (they're a bit of an essay currently!) Thanks in advance.
