  1. Just found an email addressed to me by name stating that I owe a sum of £150 to Month End Money. The email comes from Credit Resource Solutions, but who on earth is Month End Money? I have no idea who they are. Abit concerned about this if I'm honest. I would have treated it as spam except it is addressed directly to me. Anybody know who they are?
  2. I bought a used car in December from my then employer, it had electrical problems before it was ready for sale. I had problems with it cutting out then engine on light on and then back to normal? They said it was E.C.U issues but didnt want to fit one. They put a new throttle body on and had it reprogrammed but its still doing the same thing. They then found it to have a cracked head and gasket. Fixed that but still cutting out/engine light on. As I worked there they only looked at fixing it while they were not busy so its taken a lot longer than it should have. Now the 3 months is up and the problem is still there. Do they have to fix it free of charge or am I now having to pay?
  3. Can you still get JSA working for the first month as I have to work a month before i get paid From Benson13
  4. Hi, I was made redundant several months ago. I got a redundancy pay-off and I was entitled to six months JSA (but no HB or CTax relief). The 6 month JSA runs out soon but I still have assets of over £16k. When the JSA runs out can I still sign on (for national insurance contributions) and am I entitled to any other benefits - or is it a question of living off my savings? Also, if I still sign on, without getting JSA, does that mean I can sign on without having to put up with the JSA job agreement nonsense (I will still be applying for jobs though!). Any advice would be most helpful.
  5. Hi, I've been a member for about 3 years, would like to cancel my gym membership although I have to give 3 months notice? That seems a bit steep! I do remember seeing this when signing my contact, although I didn't think much of it at the time. I would have been willing to pay 30 days notice but 3 months just seems very unfair. Do I have any rights not paying the full 3 months, or shall just pay up? Many thanks,
  6. Good Morning, I wonder if you knowledgeable can help me out with this one. I am currently house sharing with childhood friend of which I have recently fallen out with. We've been in the property since May 2012. We initially signed a 12 month lease on the property. Since being in the property there are several things I am unhappy with. Probably the thing I am most unhappy about is my housemates inability to pay his share of the rent AND he seems completely uninterested in sorting out his Housing Benefit. He is unemployed also and has made no effort to look for work nor even do chores around the house. In fact he seems quite happy and thinks it's perfectly acceptable to sit in-front of his computer all day and play games:-x Something my partner is also incredibly cross about. But that's another story. Also She would not be able to move into the house as she is at University in London studying an MSc Anyhow. I also have several medical conditions (which probably due to the stress this and several other things) is being made much, much worse. I am due to have serious surgery to put one of them right. Something under the current situation I am seriously considering delaying. Receiving a Court Summons for unpaid council tax which my housemate had told me was paid was the final straw! Simply truth of the thread is that I want to fold on the tenancy. Normally the letting agents would do 6 Month Agreements but ours was twelve which we actually signed to show commitment believe it or not... The tenancy will become due for renewal in May 2013. However sensibly speaking, Financially I will NOT be able to support the house even IF I evict my fellow housemate. It is unlikely I will find another individual to take my place in that time. Nor do I really want to, to be honest! The rent is £700 and the deposit secured is £969 My Dad also stood guarantor and has made it clear he WON'T pay my debts which I completely understand. I personally have NEVER had problems paying my rent since I was 17! Hence him standing guarantor was no issue for him. I have spoken to the letting agents and they said if I terminate early that I will be liable for the rent until May 2013 UNLESS they let the property before May 2013. They also said in this case I would be liable for a further £350 in Landlord Management Costs IF they let the property prior to May 2013. Can anyone offer me some advice on how I tackle this one please?
  7. Hi. Please can someone help clarify something for me. I rent my home on an Assured Shorthold Agreement. I want to move out, and will take on the new place around the start of Feb. I was planning to hand my notice in to my current landlord and note that the agreement says: "The tenant shall be entitled to terminate this tenancy by giving notice to the landlord as follows: 1 The notice can be served at any time during the extended period [which I am in] 2 The period of the notice to be a minimum of one calendar month 3 The notice period will expire on the last day of a period of the tenancy So, if I were to serve notice tomorrow, Jan 14, would the soonest I could stop paying rent be Feb 13 (a calendar month from now), or Feb 28 (which is in fact the day the rent is due)? Many thanks.
  8. I have just checked my credit report on Noddle and i have 5 old debts, it has red D's on every month up until now. the original default dates range from 2006 until 2007. I have attached an example.. Is this right?? These are all from companies like lowells, cabot etc..
  9. Hi guys, my very first post here so feel free to wade in with any comments or suggestions.. I purchased a persommin new build in june and paid for the turf to be laid in the back garden. I was told it was very recent so stay off it for a month. Two months later the grass looked good but the ground underneath was so wet and spongy that simply walking on it leaves deep dents. I asked the landscapers to look and they said "yep, you need a land drain, it's boggy". So I took this up with the persimmon site manager who got really irrate and said the landscapers had no right talking to me etc etc. He blamed the 'rain' and said to just wait. A few weeks later and no improvement I wrote to the regional head office and within a week the site manager was back to look. Still quite curt and short he said I'd bought a standard residential build and couldn't expect the world - I actually bought a 3 bed detached and it cost me everything I've ever saved. I have a 1 year old baby and not once have I been able to allow her on the garden which was one of the reasons for choosing this plot! eventually the landscapers were back to put in a french drain. They rotavated the existing turf into the soil, dug a trench (french drain?) and then relaid turf afterwards. It's been 6 weeks since and the turf looks great. BUT, the ground is still spongy underfoot. Not as bad as before but still to the point of leaving dents. I really have no idea what to do or who to approach next. It's so stressful and incredibly difficult trying to deal with them now I've actually handed over my money! Any advice or comments would be great.
  10. Hello Could someone confirm please when the 3 month period to submit a claim under the ETA commences (unfair redundancy dismissal). Is it when a notice of redundancy is first issued, or the date when you actually become redundant. My notice period has been extended, does this make any difference? Many thanks. C
  11. Hi All I won't bore you with all the ins and outs of my situation at the moment, but I was suspended on full pay from my job with a Major International Parcel Carrier on the 9th July of this year. I am suspended for alleged falsifying records and lack of duty. I strongly deny these charges and have responses for all of it. I had my first investigatory meeting on the 11th July and was told I would hear from HR in due course. I then received an email requesting another meeting to be held tomorrow. I have spoken to my Union Rep and taken advice and asked for any questions to be sent to me so that I may consider them and my reply. I have been told by the Manager taking this investigation that she cannot supply the questions as they will be decided on the day. As far as I am concerned I have answered their questions fully and frankly and really do not have anymore to add. Can they do this? I loved my job and the worry is making me ill. I also filed a grievance and this has not been mentioned. My thanks for your help in advance.
  12. Hello all. I recently signed up to a 12 month CompTIA A+ home study course through Computeach. I pay monthly. After a few months of study and failing my initial exam, Ive decided that i am not cut out for IT and returned my study books to Computeach with a letter explaining my decision. I have also cancelled my direct debit. I wish to find out if Computeach can legally tie me into a 12 month agreement where i am effectively paying for nothing? They have obviously emailed me stating that im signed to a 12 month contract and need to continue payments. I never met face to face with them before i signed up; it was all done over the phone and even then i was not asked any questions to gauge my level of IT experience. Any advice would be most welcome. Regards Justin
  13. Hi All, I started my current role within the NHS on February 20th 2012. Unfortunately, I was informed in July that the hospital was carrying out a re-structure and at very least my job would be changed. Once i received the job description for the new role that I had been 'pooled' into I decided to look for something new. It is worth noting that there are 7 staff going for 6 Jobs, the re-structure is going ahead mid-october. I was offered a new role towards the end of August, the new employer preferably wanted me to start as soon as possible and i advised them I had a one month notice period (to the best of my knowledge i thought this was the case) .Upon speaking with my current management , as I was just outside of my probationary period which would have ended on the 20th August, I would have to carry out my full 2 months notice as stated in my contract. To add to the confusion, I am going to work for a company who's client is the NHS, so it is not quite as simple as 'walking out the door' as it will have a severe impact on relations between by new & current employer. The worst case scenario at present is that I cannot take the new job as there is too long a wait before I can start and I also lose my current job. My line manager will not budge and HR have advised me that there is nothing they can do. Could anybody give any advice on the best course of action to take going forward? J
  14. Guys, Just wanted to make people aware of this... My current three contract is due to expire in the next 30days..Ive already bought a new phone on payg - samsung galaxy s3 and signed up for a 12 month sim only deal also with three. I signed up for the new sim (£12.90 pm, 600mins, 1Gb data, 2000 free to three calls , 5000 sms) contract in-store, I thought was a bargain at the time!!. Anyway about 4 days later I received a call from three customer service offering me a deal if I extend my current contract. I told her I wasn't interested but still offered me a deal..a free samsung galaxy ace with same deal as before but unlimited data for £11 per month..I said ill take the offer however I just need to cancel the 12month deal I just took out. She said she could do that no problems..but about 5mins later said she could because I signed upto the sim contract in store (a big no no). If I had done it via website or phone call I can cancel due to 14 day grace period and distance sellers regs.. but because I purchased in-store I couldn't cancel!! Anyway I soon learnt if i ring customer services back and complain I'm not getting a decent signal I can cancel So I told them I work at the postcode of my gym (I don't !!) - where noooobody on any network gets a signal..they ran a quick test to confirm. He said if they cant resolve the issue in the next 5 days I can cancel the contract at no charge to myself due to the coverage policy!! Anyway im on day 2 of waiting so will let you guys know how i get on Main point - Buy a contract over the phone or internet - As you then get 14days grace and alot more leeway hope this helps somebody
  15. Hi, Can you please help interpreting the below break clause? "On or prior to the date the TENTH rental payment is due either the Landlord or the Tenant may give written notice to terminate this Tenancy Agreement on the last day of the TWELTH month. At the end of such notice the tenancy shall end and all obligations and responsibilities shall cease; subject nevertheless to any claim by either party against the other in respect of any breach of any of the terms and conditions of the agreement. If this clause is not invoked the Tenancy Agreement will be for twelve months from the commencement date." Does this mean, I lose ability to break clause if I don't use it before 10th month into the tenancy? Thanks for your help. Kind regards,
