After 2.5 years on benefits (ESA, JSA and HB) on October 1st I start my full time job in the field I am trained in (found out today!) 36 hours per week, proper salary, sick pay, annual leave (25 days pa) and pension. I have worked hard for this and it has paid off. I am awaiting my contract and details and ironically I sign on tomorrow but not saying anything until formalised. As for INGEUS, they are not getting ANY DETAILS at all - this was 100% MY HARD WORK and they are getting NO CREDIT.

Need to find about if I can get any help with council tax still as well as WTC but just glad to be away from the hassle I have had the last 2.5 years, I have seen both sides now as a full time employee and someone who has relied on benefits.

I still hope to contribute to this board

I won't be replying tonight as I am mentally exhausted from my interview ( I found out an hour after I had the job) so off for a shower and then for a kip!

No wait !!!!! what about pay, working conditions, unpaid breaks, the crippled transport system, the struggle has only begun lol, no seriously though congratulations on securing a job there is light at the end of the tunnel, if it were me I would make sure I had one last appointment with Ingeus and be a complete pain in the rear, vocalising my views with a very loud public address system.

I did that with A4e when I had the misfortune to have to deal with them. Had been in employment during the few days leading up to that appointment. Must admit, I did derive some pleasure from pushing all the wrong buttons with the "adviser" and got to see her true colours when she finally threw a hissy fit  Dragged the meeting out well beyond the allotted time and set her up for the rest of the day (it was her 9AM wake up call). For my efforts, I was awarded not one, but two puerile sanctions.

Congratulations essexmatt, and don't forget: When you sign off, just tell them "personal reasons" when asked why.

I would have loved to been in the office that day MR.P, I can imagine they thought there had been a glitch in the matrix.

Just for future reference, am I right in saying that if I am signed off JSA, any sanction Ingeus might try to impose upon me under the belief I was still claiming JSA cannot be enforced ?

Ingeus can only raise a benefit doubt, and it is up to the DWP to impose the sanction. But if you are not claiming a qualifying benefit (i.e. JSA or UC), there is nothing to sanction. However, the DWP will keep it on file and if you reclaim (it used to be within three months, but it may have changes) the sanction may be enforced.

Side note: I recorded the entire 90 minutes, including the sounds of the toys coming out of her pram. Due to data protection and my confidentiality, I will not be making the recording public.

Thanks all. I am at INGEUS tomorrow (well today now) and won't be letting on anything until I get my actual start date and contract. I am looking forward to just signing off though .... cannot wait!

You should be able to get a few weeks run-on with rent too. Apply for everything in sight; they can only say no!

Congrats on getting a job, Matt you've worked hard for it and - like the rest of us - put up with a lot of crap from people who are supposed to 'help'. You totally deserve it. Being the nice guy you are, you're obviously going to want to buy us all a pack of beer from your first months wages, so let us know the delivery times. I'm quite fond of Carlsberg, thank you.:)

Thanks again all. Quick few questions

Due to sign again 1st Oct but that is first day in new job so presumably I cancel claim on phone day before and get paid 13 days instead of 14? Do I tell adviser today when I sign I am not in for signing 1st Oct?

Also had my INGEUS letter for 24th Sept saying "meet new adviser and help you find work" shame that will be the ONLY time I see him and I will LOVE telling him that.

I got this job ofd my own back and don't want INGEUS to know so just sign off go on 24th then not bother with mandated letter for next appt as claim closed?

Thanks
