1. Hi I have received a PCN contravention code 01 for parking on double yellow lines as shown in the diagram below, are these lines enforceable i.e. do I appeal or pay? any help appreciated
2. Hi I have booked and paid for a 30 sq ft room at Big Yellow Storage. I am now using it and become aware that, indeed, it is not 30 sq ft, but 25. I complained for that, but they said that according to their records that room is a 30 sq ft. So, even if it is a 25, I have to pay as it were a 30 (!?!). Morover, in the meantime I was able to remove some stuff and a 20 sq ft room would be now enough. But they say that prices have increased and that a 20 ft would today cost more than a 25ft. The problem is that they refuse to show me any written document with their fares. I don't know what to do.
3. I was parked for 1 minute or less in a bay next to a cash point. Photo of pcn attached. Either side of the bay are double yellow lines, within the bay are is a single yellow very indistinct line, photo attached. The third picture is the sign which is adjacent to the single yellow line at one end of the bay. Is this worth appealing and on which grounds, if anyone knows relevant winning cases that I could use to support an appeal that would be great too. Thanks in advance for any advice given
4. Hello All, I received a PCN from tfl for entering and stopping in a box junction when prohibited, when I entered the box there was enough room in front for me to clear the box but another car race from the side road and joined the traffic, I reversed but the cars behind me were too close for me to completely clear the box. see attached pcn and picture http://i58.tinypic.com/10s7pdc.jpg http://i57.tinypic.com/24b7s44.jpg I really want to contest this, as I didn't enter the box when prohibited - the car that joined the road at speed made me stop. Any help greatly appreciated and also is the PCN word right etc. Thanks in advance for your help
5. Received a PCN for parking inside a parking bay, when time restriction had expired. we did not realise that there was a different restriction as there was a yellow line inside the parking bay that terminated half way. The parking restriction on the pay meter said parking payable from 9am until 5.30- we parked at 7.50 pm . We parked on the yellow line inside the bay unaware that there was a separate small sign well above the parking bay sign that said no parking 8pm-10pm. we got a ticket at 8.04pm. Is this legal? can they have 2 different signs and two different regulations in the same parking bay? Please can anyone shed some light on this as I pass this place regularly and without fail see the wardens giving tickets at that same place at the same time.
6. Hi all I recently received a charge notice through the post from TFL, stating that I stopped in a yellow box junction in wandsworth. I've always been aware that it's only when your wheels stop that you become liable, so I usually creep the whole box if I'm stuck in one. From looking at the photos, there is also a TFL bus that is very much infringing as well which frustrates the hell out of me, as I'm sure the driver wont be paying a fine! Any advice would be appreciated.
7. Hello all I realise discussion of this sort of topic tends to get a bit heated but I'd really appreciate some advice. There is a primary school on the street with various parking restrictions. On the side with the primary school entrance, on both sides of the gate there are zigzags, which mean no parking or waiting or stopping at any time, I believe, but please correct me if this is wrong. On the opposite side there is a single yellow, with a sign stating no parking between certain times. This would mean that you can only park before and after the stated times. Now, does anyone know the legalities of stopping to drop off or collect passengers on the single yellow line, whether it is before, during or after the times stated on the sign? Stopping off, as I mean, is no more than 2 minutes while your passenger hops in or out, with your engine running and definite signs of movement into or out of the car, certainly not parked while chatting on the phone or reading a newspaper! Some sound advice would be much appreciated.
8. Ive just traded my car to a garage down south they are delivering the car next week and taking mine back down to them. Ive already sent the V5 by post to the garage but kept the yellow section as I thought I needed to fill this in and send off to the DVLA. The garage has said they need the yellow part as its holding up the transfer of my personal number plate.Should I just fill it in and then send it off to the garage or send to DVLA ?
9. I have received a PCN for stopping in this YBJ. There is a bus stop on the right, a bus pulled out at the time causing me to stop. I'm going to appeal. Can anyone check if the junction is valid one please? Thank you.
10. Got a ticket for parking in Threadneedle Street EC, the kerb markings were there and not very visible, couldn't see the restriction sign on a post, when I got the ticket the sign was planted on a wall quite high up, do I have any grounds to appeal and is it worth it. Do the council have the obligation to ensure kerb markings are clear and precise rather than broken and not very visible, I also notice the vehicle in front of me didn't get a ticket as I asked the driver
11. Hi everyone, Its been a while since I had PCN, but I think July month is not so good for me, I had a Fixed penalty from police on sunday for stoping on a laybay near heathrow and today in post from westminister council for yellow box junction. I won't say alot about yellow box ticket bcoz its my first and I have no clue how to deal with it. So I am just posting the video. Do you pros think I have any chance to challange this? Berkely Street is a side street and I was emerging onto picadilly which is a main street. Please ADMIN let me know if its not right to post video here.
12. Hello all CAG dog owners/lovers. Could I ask that you spare a moment to click on the link below and have a quick read? www.yellowdoguk.co.uk This is a fantastic, international scheme to help everyone who has a dog needing space when out. Yellow is the internationally recognised colour for caution. If you see a dog wearing a yellow ribbon or bandana, the owner is alerting you to the fact that this dog needs some space. The dog could be unwell, getting over an operation, be unfriendly towards other dogs for a variety of reasons, most of which will be associated with fear, or it could be that this is a rescue dog and the owner and dog are getting to know each other. Anyone who has a dog that needs space will welcome this idea. There is nothing worse than the feeling of a dog bounding towards you and your unsociable dog when out. The Yellow Dog UK campaign is designed to make these encounters a thing of the past by alerting other owners and the public to give the dog the space it needs. The campaign is NOT about aggressive or dangerous dogs – this is only for dogs that need space. I do hope you feel able to support this scheme, I think its very much needed and should certainly help everyone to know when a dog needs some space. Thanks for reading
13. I recently was issued with a parking ticket (pcn council) for parking in a street, which had no visible yellow lines. The area was outside a building sight and any traces of a yellow line, had been cleaned right off, by all the building machinery and materials going in and out of site. Since then however, I have revisited the spot and there is now a plastic temporary sign, tied around a lamppost beside the road where I had parked. To warn people not to park there. How can I best go about appealing this matter? Many thanks Nadia Phillips
14. Hi all, I have a PCN for parking on double yellow lines which are broken. Thats the reason I parked there as as far as I knew this meant they were inactive and certainly advice I've seen on here in the past supported that. When did that change and what is the regulation that says they do have to be continuous and barred at each end? The council recently repainted all DYL's around the town that were broken or worn and painted in all the gaps that had been left where repairs had been made to the road. Some of these were only 1-2 feet! The lines where I parked were not re-painted and are in a service road under a shopping centre which does not have a street name. Does this make a differance? I asked the council what they meant by 'Parking in a restricted street during prescribed hours' and was asked if I had parked in a residents only parking bay. Only after my 'Informal appeal' are they refering to DYL's. I have questioned whether the council have jurisdiction over an un-named service road, they say they do. They say it was obvious there were DYL's but not being joined it was obvious to me they were inactive. The road quoted on the ticket is the shopping centre above the service road. Lastly I read on another thread that the ticket should say 'Date of issue' as if it doesn't then it is contrary to RTA 1991 section 66(3). My ticket says 'Date of contravention, time of contravention.' Thanks for any advice you can give me.
15. Hi I would like advice please. Received a PCN in November in Coventry, first one ever in 25 years of driving, never intended to park illegally, road is in city centre where they have been doing a lot of roadworks, no yellow lines or kerb markings of any kind down quite a stretch of the road after resurfacing, it's a fairly quiet side road with some university offices, student accommodation and a sports centre and some shops. So I parked there for an hour while I was at a lecture (I am a student). Came back to find a PCN, contravention (02) for parking or loading in a restricted street... which I didn't know was an offence if there were no double yellow lines or kerb markings..? There was a sign further down 'No Loading' but attached underneath two sheets of A4 paper with lots of small print, ok I didn't read it, who would. I honestly just went on the lack of lines would mean it was fine! Anyway my appeal was refused as they (the council) said 'There is no requirement for road markings on this road. There was a sign two metres away indicating the restriction in force' (that is the sign I mentioned with 2 pages of small print stuck underneath). I am genuinely considerate driving or when parking. Never had a fine/ticket in 25 years. Is there a requirement for road markings and/or kerb markings to back this sign up? Would I have grounds to appeal further as the signage was not clear (i.e. with the 2 pages of small print attached).?? Any help appreciated as I have now had a letter from a Baliff company about it. I have several photos I took of the whole scene including that of the sign. I would put them up here if there was a way to do it, is there? Thanks a lot.
16. Does anyone know if a 100mm line can change to a 50mm line and still be legal? The 50mm lines although too wide apart do close up to be 50mm apart.
17. Hi all. I pulled over outside near my son's school this afternoon, and was sat on a single yellow line. A taxi was on the other side of the road waiting to turn and a lorry tried to squeeze through the gap, scraping my driver side wheel arch and ripping off my bumper. He got out and admitted he should have waited for the taxi to finish moving, gave me his details (parcel force lorry) and off he went. I'm worried now that because I was parked on a single yellow, I will be liable. I was pulled right over and there was literally enough room to get a big bus through, but because the taxi was turning in, the gap narrowed and he thought he could get his truck through. Does anyone know the law on this situation?
18. my husband parked on a single yellow line on our high street during restricted hours. He drove off as he was spotted by the PA . Today we got a PCN stating the LA belives a PC is payable due to being parked in a restricted street during prescrivbed hours. He was observed from 10.18-10.19 and notice states PA had started to issue a notice but he drove off. Can they enforce this even if he was stopped /observed for just 60 seconds? He had nowhere to park and had to drop off some urgent packages to post office. Thank you for any input on this as we are not sure what our position is..
19. Hi, I have just recieved a parking ticket when I was parked on a single yellow line at 21:45. The yellow line area was between 2 permitted areas and did not have its own sign, or any sign that I could see, so assumed it was from 08:00-19:00. I have subsequently seen that there is a controlled sign stating that there is no parking on yellow lines from 08:00-23:00, but this is further down the road and on the other side of the permitted area. Does each section of the yellow line need its own sign, or can one sign cover the whole road? Thanks in advance. P
20. Writing on behalf of my family member. - I apologize for future inconvenience if this is so a simple question. Location: Lutton Place, Edinburgh Date of Issue: 11th October 2012 Bit of a background: On 10th October, We had difficulty finding a space to park on South clerk street after an evening night out. Round about 10pm. We had a user permit but there was no space whatsoever, this led us to go onto Lutton place to find a space and parked there and left. Obviously now we noticed it was a single yellow line! The exact same spot where the white bmw is parked. [picture] On the 11th October, our car got towed away by the Edinburgh council. The reason was parking on a single yellow line. The problem is. At lutton place at Edinburgh there was no sign whatsoever mentioning what time can you park - what are the restricted hours. However there are pay and display signs dotted around and also resident permit holders only for the parking bays. As you can see in the picture. There are 2 cars currently parked at the single yellow line with both disabled badges. I do know they have the right to park there for a period of time. The red and White car. My argument stands that is there any reason that we could appeal against this charge. The main reason being that it doesn't mention when are the restricted hours? The total amount we had to pay was £180 including the removal release fee etc. the quote from an letter from the council: "The car was parked for 6hours and 42minutes and therefore it was considered to be parked as opposed to being utilized for loading/unloading. This meant that the vehicle may have caused an inconvenience to other motorists wishing to carry out loading operations at this particular location " I apologize for the bad pictures. If you do see a sign far away, it is a pay and display or a residents permit sign. I have checked each and every one of them. If there are definite grounds of appeal. I will go back and take proper photographs. Thank you very much for your time, Craig http://i.imgur.com/zruVh.jpg - residents parking sign http://i.imgur.com/8ijLb.jpg - yellow line separating the parking bays http://i.imgur.com/ldGrj.jpg http://i.imgur.com/oN13o.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Uw01g.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Hn93u.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ABo0q.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4Bhck.jpg http://i.imgur.com/tv2Lj.jpg http://i.imgur.com/1HGIw.jpg http://i.imgur.com/F76Dy.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qbrft.jpg example of pay and display- sorry for bad photo
21. Hi, yesterday I parked my car to pick up a box at a friends flat. I parked on the street and could see that there was a single yellow line but it was all broken, gaps missing where roadworks had been done so I thought nothing of it. Dropped the box off to come out to see a warden taking pics of my car. On the ticket It says I was observed from 11:12 to 11:14. That would be literally how long I was parked there. I have taken a video of the road markings. There are numerous breaches in what I believe are the regulations in so much as No T bar at the end of the single white line. Of the 15m on the recording, about 3-4 metres is missing. You can go anytime of the day and see cars parked there. I will verify what the sign says tomorrow. The video below on youtube shows the line.
22. Hi, I got a ticket last sunday for parking on a single yellow line. I thought i would be ok because there was a sign saying "no parking mon-sat 8am-8pm" or somthing along them lines. I have attached a picture of the sign i mean. Also it says on the ticket i was observed for 7 minutes only. isnt there a 20 minute loading time on single yellow? Thanks for the help Jon
23. Drivers refunded after traffic wardens issued fines for cars parked on snow-covered double yellow lines Read more: - http://uk.news.yahoo.com/drivers-refunded-after-traffic-wardens-issued-fines-for-cars-parked-on-snow-covered-double-yellow-lines.html
24. Hi I parked on double yellow lines on a cul de sac 70% of the yellow lines are missing i know its doubles yellows but because its broken are they still valid
25. I hope someone can help me? I was parked on a single yellow with a flat tyre, with a note in the front window explaining that I had a flat tyre and the RAC would be there soon to assist. I had to leave the vehicle and walk home with 2 toddlers and no buggy, and by the time the RAC arrived I had received a parking fine. The RAC advised that if I appealed the ticket and showed the work sheet from them that I could possibly have it repealed. Is there a set appeal form that I could use for this? How should I word my appeal to them? My second question/ issue is that the RAC form shows they weren't called until after the ticket was issued, will that make a difference? Any help is most appreciated!
