  1. Hi All I came back from work yesterday to find that there are double yellow lines outside my council house and around the corner. I assume the council put them there (they look like they've been painted by someone after a heavy liquid lunch) the lines are 55mm wide the the cap between them varies from 30mm to 70mm. As I'm near the end of the terrace, the lines start outside my house, go up the road and around the bend, going up that road. My questions are:- 1) Should the council advertise that the lines are being put there prior to painting 2) Should there be parking restriction signs to accompany these lines 3) Should these lines confirm to a standard for the to be legal 4) Should there be plans lodged somewhere to state the how far these lines come down the straight bit of road after the bend As always, thanks in advance EOS-5D
  2. I live on the High Street in the London Borough of Sutton. Recently a visitor received a PCN while parked on the single yellow line outside my house shortly before 8pm. All the nearest (under 100m) yellow control signs for single yellows nearby show restricted times of Mon-Sat 08:00 to 18:30, however there is not a yellow sign directly at this location. Seeing the single yellow line, and the time, my visitor thought parking would be fine. At the location there is also double yellow blips, controlled by a No Loading sign. To compound the confusion, at this location there is a newly installed sign stating 'no idling, turn engine off while waiting'. She submitted an appeal expecting the ticket to have been issued in error by an over-exuberant TCO over the xmas period and to be overturned, unfortunately the appeal was rejected on the basis of no loading at any time. My question is, is there any point in continuing the appeals process on the basis that the single yellow would have reasonably considered to have been in force, on confusing signage / markings, was waiting/parked not loading, or possible other basis, or, to pay the discounted penalty before they remove the option. Thanks in advance. The contravention on the PCN - 02 - Parked or loading/unloading in a restricted street where waiting and loading/unloading restrictions are in force. Location postcode (for Google mappers!) - SM1 1LD
  3. I have received a PCN for waiting within a box junction. The box junction was not serving a road junction, but covering the frontage of a fire station. My vehicle was only partially within the junction. The waiting was caused by a LGV performing a forced right turn ahead of me. Do I have grounds for an appeal?
  4. Hello, Would appreciate if someone could help me. I received a PCN for parking in a restricted road in prescribed hours, the road I regularly park down, and is not a restricted zone. However, I noticed after checking my car that I was parked on double yellow lines that were covered in leaves on the ground. The car behind me was not on double yellows and I believe only the front of my car was on the double yellows. These are the pictures of my car. Is it worth appealing? If so what do I say? Thank you!
  5. Contravention code 01 Parking in a restricted street during prescribed hours Russell place Brighton £35 Can I challenge this....11:20pm is a bit late to be lurking for parking enforcers. Regards BB
  6. Hi I hope someone can assist with the latest PCN recieved by my company on the 26/09/18. I have tried to review video evidence on-line but I am unable to download it as my browser is not compatible? Can I request details direct from Camden and if so will this start the appeal process? I reviewed pics submitted - 1st pic time 08.54.02, 2nd 08.54.13, 3rd 08.54.15 & 4th 08.55.15. I do recall that at time of alleged offence, trafalgar square was closed due to emergency road repairs in which caused more traffic than usual in surrounding area and gridlocked in places. I remember approaching the junction when suddenly various vehicles were crossing lanes in front of me, including buses in which blocked my original clear access. Also on reviewing the PCN, should it not state a contravention code or exact location due to 8 box junctions on Shaftesbury Avenue? I was crossing Shaftesbury avenue as I was actually travelling down Bloomsbury St. I drove down there today and could not see any appropriate signage apart from bus lane cameras. They also state that recording was made by an approved device yet I did not see any traffic enforcement cameras. Finally will it be Friday 5th October to submit appeal to still recieve 50% reduction? Many Thanks for looking. img20180928_17161721.pdf img20180928_17174174.pdf
  7. On 11/05/2018 at 12:36 I was amazed to spot a gap in the red and yellow lines on the hospital perimeter road close to the Willow Annexe which I was visiting for pre surgery assessment. Since I have very troublesome arthritic knees and ankles only having a 200 yd walk was like a gift from the gods. The gap in the lines was twice the size my car would need and I assumed that whoever had been parked there must have just moved. I parked up and went off to my appointment. When I came back, to my astonishment there was a ticket on the windscreen. I took some photos to prove I was not on red or yellow lines, got in the car, opened the plastic envelope and found that the accusation was, in fact, "Causing Obstruction". he perimeter road in that area is wide enough for two buses at least to pass each other, I wasn't obstructing the road, and I certainly wasn't obstructing the footpath. Any advice as to whether they can make this stick would be appreciated. I have not yet contacted Liberty Printers who issued the Parking Charge, which says £80 or £40 if paid within 14 days.
  8. Is this yellow box junction legal just received a fine for this. Video: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=pQjVf61e2hA
  9. Hi, What are the regulations for enforcing double yellow lines on private land? clearly they will not have a Traffic Order in place, but can they simply have yellow lines and then red signs up stating "no parking" to make it enforceable. ta
  10. Hi, in my area the council have just painted double lines on one side of my road. The road is fairly narrow, but there was room for people to park close to the wall and other cars could still get past. However, they've now put double yellow lines down the side where people used to park. It dawned on me that I could simply park on the other side of the road, would I be correct in assuming this? Or do the lines apply to both sides? I've been looking everywhere to try to find out this regulation but can't find any info at all. So if any of you know the answer that'd be great. I can provide photos if that'd help? Thanks.
  11. Got a PCN from TFL, stopping in the box junction of City rd and Graham rd, not far from Euston. No CCTV , and only 3 pictures ( attached ) 1. My car afterwards on normal piece of road with number plate visible 2 and 3 My car in the box junction stopped behind a bin lorry , you can't actually see my number plates. I lodged the following representation : ********************************** 1) The pictures on the notice do not show my vehicle on the box junction in any CLEARLY IDENTIFIABLE way. The box junction picture merely shows a lorry, with what could be any vehicle behind it, almost completely obscured. This could be any vehicle. Please provide some additional evidence that CLEARLY IDENTIFIES my vehicle committing an offence, otherwise I consider this matter not proven. 2. Representation procedure. Your letter clearly states representations must be made in writing. However when calling your enquiries number on 28th Sept I am informed that representations can be made at this email address. In addition , your operative claims that no written representation was received, despite it being sent first class two days previously. I believe this is a deliberate attempt to obfuscate the appeal process. Please explain these anomalies in a satisfactory way. I attach a copy of the letter you have received ( despite claiming otherwise ). Please acknowledge receipt of this communication immediately, failure to do so will confirm my suspicions of your attempts to impede the appeals process. ***************************************************************** After two weeks I received the reply : "Due to an administration error, your PCN has been cancelled" Moral of the story, it's always worth a representation - it costs nothing, they but the ticket on hold so you can still pay the discount rate if it fails. I'm wondering whether my appeal grounds were 100% valid and this was just a "try on" from TFL, either way, never cough up straight away, that's for sure.
  12. Hiya i got yellowbox junction ticket .. Council uploaded the video evidence . I entered in YBJ while next car moved from junction but then eventually got stopped cos of signal. Can you guys pls have a look on this video and advise me if i worth get to do appeal against this PCN You guys can check my contravention video on viiemypcn.com cos i m new user so I can't attach link or video with my post Pcn number :FR24296226 Reg number: fd55xvx Thx
  13. Hiya all, Personally I think that the fine I've received is absolutely unjustifiable on the grounds that it was completely unclear, even clear in the opposite way, that this spot was restricted- and every colleague/friend/family member I've consulted has agreed. However I'd like to sense check that before I waste any more time dealing with the glacial process of formally appealing it now that the informal one has failed. I was parked at the end of a cul de sac, which had no signage about parking. There were double yellow lines alone the sides of the street, but they appear to me to visibly not cover the end of the street (indeed everyone else has come to this idea, as the end of this street is regularly full of cars parked at the end). As the PCN and the rejection of my informal appeal only mentioned double yellow lines, It can't be anything else. Hopefully everyone can see my attachments; the first two less grainy photos are some of the ones I took to demonstrate the situation, which I sent along with my informal appeal. Long dead end street, no obvious double yellow lines at the end, no signage banning parking The third grainy photo is to me the most damning photo they sent as evidence. Interestingly the white paint splodge of no clear meaning right next to my car that you can see in my photos looks as if it could be a double yellow line due to the angle of his photo. I'm sure that this was absolutely a coincidence and I have absolute faith in the traffic wardens honesty and integrity. Only a cynical person would suggest that he's deliberately misrepresented the situation. So what do people think? I'm currently waiting until the notice to owner arrives and plan to make a formal appeal, but if people think I was actually in the wrong then I'd rather not waste everyones time. additionaly I'd be grateful if anyone could answer the following: Can I make a formal appeal directly even though I'm not the registered owner of the vehicle? The "Notice to owner" apparently has to go to the owner, is there a limit on what representation I can make by myself?
  14. I have received a PCN for parking contravention 31 "Entering and stopping in a box junction when prohibited". I have viewed the CCTV footage which shows the traffic flowing when I enter the box junction but just as I am exiting the traffic comes to a sudden stop and I am forced to stop in the box junction. Do you think I have grounds for an appeal here? The CCTV footage can be viewed on "https viewmypcn dot co dot uk" with the below details: PCN Number: KT5792518A Reg: Y**** My vehicle is the grey vauxhall astra 3 door.
  15. Is there a minimum period for which car would need to be stationary in yellow box for it to be labelled as "stopping"? I have been sent two pictures showing 6.24 seconds "stop", as cars ahead were starting to move. Does local authority enforcement using cameras and remote monitoring require them to have signs posted stating that cameras are being used? There is a camera enforcement sign on main road, but not on the side road from which I turned in. Grateful for any comments and advice. Thanks
  16. Hi there. Finished work today and found that when I walked back to my car I had been given a ticket. The place I had parked on had double yellows but I am wondering if there are any grounds for an appeal. The lines were only added about a week or two ago, it isnt like a proper street and looks more of a car park, before these lines it was used as a car park essentially. This is the location on google maps. 52.4119603,-1.5061521 I am posting the information on the ticket as well and am wondering if anything seems incorrect to anyone on here as this is my first ticket ever.
  17. Hi guys, i've been trying to register to other forums (more than 14 days!!) but cant even register, thank this website i was able to register and post for help!! I have a PCN here with correct picture and vehicle registration number, but the contravention address is not printed clearly, cannot even read it. The stated junction does not exist; Colney Hatch Lane with Alexandra Road. The juniction with Colney Hatch Lane is Alexandra PARK road, not Alexandra Road. Although Alexadra Road exists near Colny Hatch Lane, it is not a junction with it. google maps coords: 51.603039, -0.142909 (this is Alexandra Road, Colney Hatch Lane is near it but not a junction). I don't have permission to post links or images as i'm new here, but basically on the letter the only part of the location is readable is Colney Hatch Lane j/w Alexandra £$£$@£%^$%. That last part is jumbled up like that, also no postcode. The online details held also states Alexandra Road N10, which is wrong. Do i have grounds for this? i believe i do with the incorrect location but i don't know how to word it. I have like 2 days left (thanks to the other forums). Many thanks.
  18. I am asking on behalf of a friend. He has got a NTD for parking on double yellow lines of a road. The road is public accessible so I would assume it is a public highway. He happened to see the employee putting tickets on all cars up the road and apparently he even said it is a public road and he shouldn't park there. He has also got a letter from the council to say he is allowed to park there. It's a new build estate, and as of today, Google street view doesn't show the road. The company on the ticket is "UK Parking Management Ltd" and is defiantly not a council issued ticket. I would assume it is not a private road as I have been there myself, and it is not sign posted anywhere, other than the double yellow lines. I am awaiting images from my friend who is sending me a copy of the ticket, and the letter he received from the council about parking there. I have advised them not to pay anything, and not to contact the company until the NTK arrives in the post. I would like to know peoples initial thoughts on this. Thanks
  19. About 10 days ago I parked on a double yellow, and got booked by the traffic warden from the council. Can an empty ticket be a reason for appeal? I've had this ticket in my pocket since and by some weird coincidence, all the details except the date and traffic number came off, including the reason of the contravention (the basics such as reg number, ticket reference, date and amount are on the payment slip though which is attached to the ticket, but there's nothing on the ticket itself; might have to rub it against the pocket to get that off too ). Would this invalidate the charge, or is the photographic evidence on the website of the car parked on double yellows sufficient for them to reject the appeal? If not, is there anything to do to appeal the charge and hopefully win? I know that I was wrong, and that I'll have to pay if there's nothing that can be done , but I'd rather get this reversed.
  20. Yellow Box Junctions are, in general terms, a good thing. They allow traffic from minor roads access to main roads in heavy traffic. The problem that we have had in London for some years, and coming soon to the rest of the country, is where the council uses them as ‘money boxes’ to raise revenue thru CCTV. One west London junction raised £2.7m a year, and there are many others I would like an amendment to the "Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002" requiring councils to put up signs advising drivers of CCTV monitoring of yellow box junctions – if the aim of the yellow box junction is to ensure that drivers from the monor roads can access the main road they should have no objection to this. 21. Please I need some help. I have been issued a PCN (penalty Charge Notice) from Merton council - 31J - entering and stopping in a box junction when prohibited. It took place: London Road/Armfield Crescent (box junction) in Mitcham. When I arrived at the yellow box junction, it was empty and the traffic at the exit was moving. I proceeded to move inside the box and just as I approached the exit, the car in front stopped suddenly due to traffic ahead of it. I phoned up the authorities to ask them to send the video evidence on DVD to my home address. They said they do not do that but offered me to come and view the evidence at their offices. Therefore I went to the offices to view. I have viewed the video evidence and it showed that as I entered the empty junction box, the traffic ahead was moving. It was only when I was approaching the exit, that the car in front stopped suddenly, thus forcing me to stop in the box. My front tyres were out of the box but my rear tyres were in the box. I had stooped for approximately 13 seconds in the box and my brake lights were on as were the brake lights of the car in front. I did notice that there was a bus lane to the left of the junction box and cars were driving in there. The incident happened around 3.00pm so I presume the bus lane was not in force at that time. I have to pay by the 20th December to get the reduced rate of £65. Do I have grounds to appeal? If so for what reasons? How do I draft my appeals letter? I would be most grateful for any help or advice. Thank you very much
  22. Hi Our car was snapped moving along with other cars and we got a penalty notice. Please see http://www.viewmypcn.co.uk/Default.aspx?r=f6f80b089747e06ef1c94390293c17bf7073b763 The cars before us were moving, and how were we going to predict that we were stranded there? Cash cow for Waltham Forest. See give advice.
  23. I have looked to see if anyone else has encountered this problem on CAG couldn't find anything, so apologies if I have missed it. In Wales there are circumstances when you can park on a single yellow line for three hours and then the car must be moved for one hour. I believe that this may be different in England but not sure as there is conflicting advice. Having had a rather nasty experience yesterday with a traffic warden who swore blind that I hadn't moved the car when I most definitely had as she said, "the valves are in the same place", I wondered how far the car has to be moved? Does anyone know? It was a horrible experience being told that I hadn't moved the car and that further more I did it every day! There was a CCTV camera on the pub nearby so I suggested that the warden go ahead and book me and I would request the evidence. Eventually when neighbours came out to support me we told that we were "ganging up on her". Fortunately in law witnesses are not accused of this! In any event I was told to reverse the car 10 foot to move the car. I understand that this is within the power of the traffic Warden so I complied. Therefore it appears that moving a car is just moving it so that the valves are not in the same place! But is this correct or should the car be removed from that stretch of yellow line making it difficult to return to a place of work? It has also occurred to me that this must create difficulties for disabled workers trying to park near their place of work. Popping out and moving the car every three hours to where?
  24. Hi, Decided to post here as after googling ANPR it seems a lot of people here have relevant experience. Went out Sunday morning to find a ticket on my car. I live on a private road (with what I believe are ANPR signs at regular intervals). The ticket says I was parked on double yellow lines in the early hours. I checked their website and the photo they have as evidence doesn't show my wheel over the line (of course there may be more photos?) - I didn't read the ticket until after I'd driven off but I believe my wheel was actually passed the end of the lines. There are no bay markings. I would like advice as to my next course of action. Should I write to them and ask them to prove it first and send me proof that they work on behalf of the land owner? Ticket (all details correct) and 'evidence photo' attached but censored in case they are watching. Many thanks for looking! EDIT: Forgot to mention, my car is leased so cannot risk a Notice to Owner.
  25. This is the video Ealing council sent me, traffic was flowing in both lanes without issue I had a Large sprinter van in front of me rather than a car blocking my visibility of traffic ahead on it. I entered while the van in front was still moving and then suddenly stopped causing me to stop in the yellow box, furthermore the car in the second lane also stopped without moving forward even though he/she had 1 car space clear stopping me from going behind him/her to clear the yellow box. Please let me know if I have grounds of appeal in your experience. Link to video not allowed please message m for it. Is it true that 'A yellow box junction must be at the junction of at least two roads' ?
