  1. Good news folks - found a contract starting a week Monday! However, when I tried to sign off I refused to let the JC have my employer details. JC THEN turned around and said, "Fine, but you still need to sign as usual THIS Monday".... They flat turned around and said, "Look, if you don't turn up you'll be signed off for non-attendance, so you won't get that last week's money". ?????? I've FOUND a job, surely I can sign off whenever I want? I've signed off with longer periods between job offer, and start date, without issue. Who is in the right here, technically?
  2. Well today was the last signing on at the Work Programme at Jobcentre, got told by advisor who signed me on today, she said its going to get tough now that I have finished my 2 year work Programme and I have still not got a Job. Got appointment on Tuesday 26th of November at 9.40am, this is called (Post work Programme Support) It's to help me get more support and it also states on the letter need to do more things to get me into work. At the moment these what I do for Jobseeking: 1) Look on Jobsites from 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday. 2) Keep in touch with Job agencies 3 days a week. 3) Look in newspapers 4) Go around stores to see any vacancies mostly twice a week. 5) Send spec/cvs letters to companies. There is only so much Job search I can do lol.
  3. Hi This is not a trick question. Around Nov 2007 (or it could have been Nov 2008) four defaults were registered against my name. They all hit my account around the same time as I had gone through a Debt Management Company. Last year, I settled all four defaults and they are registered on my Experian report as "satisfied". During the last few months, I have been trying to obtain a mortgage and it was then that I realised that the default dates have been changed and instead of coming off my file on or around the same time, there is a difference of one or two years so effectively I will have defaults registered until 2016!! I contacted Experian who said that although at the time the defaults were registered by the same lender, as two of the accounts were passed to collectors they can effectively "restart the clock" on my defaults - so regardless of how many years the default had been on my name, they would have re-registered it when the company took over the debt. Is this correct? If so, doesn't this mean that I could have the same default registered for over 6 years?? How can this be right? According to Experian this is legal!!! Please tell me their wrong
  4. HI Today I was looking for cheap accomodation in London for five days and was offered a really good deal from Last Minute Dot Com. I could book one of their secret hotels for a really cheap price. I did this and paid in full. Even though they have taken the money they have sent me an email saying the price advertised was wrong and they will not honor the deal. Can they do this? Put the price up after I have paid? Surely isn't this false advertising?

  6. buckthorn has just posted in the Labour forum of UK National Forums under the title of Labour luvvies.. This thread is located at http://uknationalforums.com/showthread.php?4982-Labour-luvvies Here is the message that has just been posted: *************** Reading about Ed Miliband and Ed Balls ‘courted’ the same girl confirms what I have long suspected: they’re all part of a privileged, cliquey ex-Oxbridge set who have nothing to do with the workers. In this respect, Labour are just as bad as anyone else in being wedded to the ‘old school tie’-in this case, a university tie. They’ve never done a day’s manual labour in their lives. When did these supposed champions of the underdog, the toilers, the poor and needy, the old and ill, ever experience hard labour- or any sort of real distress? Just looking at the images of these two is enough to put people off Labour for life, They’re arrogant know-alls who haven’t a clue; geeks messing around with their leftie theories, lolling around in a study or prancing about at parties. ***************
  7. Here I go again - compound interest and charges going back almost 3 years. Have been missing from this site for quite some time - it's good to be back. Prelim going off tomorrow.
  8. Hi Everyone, Last September I began working full-time for a company that I previously sub-contracted for. A wage was agreed and and additional payment agreed for using my own van. In March they were very quiet and the asked me if I would consider going back to being a sub-contractor for them to reduce the wage bill. I agreed and everything was amicable. At the beginning of April I didn't get paid for the work in March which was approx 16 days, I email them and also pointed out that they were due to also pay £768 in expenses for Jan and Feb. They then paid me for the 16 days work, but took off £500 for being ill at the beginning of March (4 days off). I emailed there accountant / payroll person and asked for my P45 and P60, she replied that they never put me on payroll and they had been paying my wages gross, saying that I never gave them the details to be on payroll - but they never asked me! I had a heated phone call with the project manager as I couldn't get through to the boss and now they are accusing me of threatening behaviour. Going back through all the payments they have made to me I have calculated that they never paid the expenses for the use of my van, so I sent them an demand for payment of van expenses and expenses due for Jan and Feb. They have refused to pay citing my phone call as a reason not to pay. I have been really stressed about this as the amount owed is just over £2k I have copies of my bank statements that clearly show Salary on all payments made by them and I'm even on there website as part of the company! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm speaking to citizens advice today about it. Cheers
  9. What a fantastically well done bit of scriptwriting and acting. So real in every way. I had to laugh at the dad who was kicked off ESA onto JSA and did a deal with the young guy to have his hand damaged by a nail gun simply to get back onto ESA and get a bit of compo in the process! Is this a common occurence - it wouldn't surprise me?
  10. It'll be a year this week I've been in this job, best money I've had since the glory days of 2007, saved shovel-loads of cash and even if it all went "BOOM!" tomorrow, I'm sitting very pretty indeed. But guys, I'll always be Jaybee From The Block, I'm never going to forget the hard times, having to fill out those damn job diaries, or sit for 3 hours a week with those phony work 'providers'. Couple of weeks ago a colleague of mine got laid off, and he was DREADING going back to the JC, very much the nervous type, always took everything the JC threw at him personally, to the point where he literally threw up a few times. Took him to the pub, bought him a few Guinesses and told him how with the JC it's all procedure and show, to keep the expenses tucked right down, and when they harass him with that "You are supposed to spend 35 hours a week job hunting" crap, instead of falling to pieces trying to give an account of the last 7 days, just to smile mirthlessly and drawl, "Yeah, sure". I remember first claiming the dole back in 1990 or so, no damn job diaries, no showing your cv, and you didn't even need to sign on time, quite often I turned up in the afternoon when my signing time was first thing in the morning, they NEVER refused, I did it about 6 times before some woman made a peep. And they actually TRIED TO FIND YOU WORK. It truly was a centre where they would try to get you a job. I absolutely despise the harassment this government needles the unemployed with, and I can tell you I harassed back with regular emails complaining about lapses in procedure, waiting times, the lot. I want to go back to how it was in 1990, I walked in with a smile, signed, and left with a smile. Sometimes I didn't even have my signing papers. But every time I walked in to sign in 2012, over a year back, it was like going into a war zone. Sorry I've rambled, I just feel that everyone who wants a job deserves one, and this damn system nowadays is just driving victims of this recession into horrible pain. I'm not signing any more, but I'm with you guys still. I wish each and every one of you the very best of luck like I've had, keep your chins up, and don't let the b*****s get you down!!!
  11. In late September I received a two page letter from IND with "Last letter before legal proceedings" on page one and a statement on the second page. The letters refer to a debt with Barclays bank Plc t/a Sky Card. This morning (23/10/12) I received a claim form from Northampton court. Particulars of claim: The claimant is the asignee of a debt from Barclays Bank Plc t/a Sky Card. Notice of assignment was provided to the defendant by the claimant in writing. Despite demand for payment the assigned debt remains due. The claimant complied with Section III and IV and Annex B of the PD Pre-action Conduct. And the claimant claims: Credit card account number xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx balance of 1,900 as of xx/xx/08 Interest under s69 of the County Court Act 1984 at the rate of 8% a year from xx/xx/08 to xx/xx/12 of 700 and also the interest at the same rate up to the date of judjement or earlier payment at a daily rate of 0.41 AND costs. I have never received a "Notice of Assignment" The credit limit on this card was £750 and the debt seems to be rather inflated. Also the debt is in a shortened version of my name, does this matter at all? Basically I'm looking for some advice for my next course of action. Cheers for any help
  12. Mujibar was trying to get a job in India .... The Personnel Manager said, 'Mujibar, you have passed all the tests, except one. Unless you pass it, you cannot qualify for this job.' Mujibar said, 'I am ready.' The manager said, 'Make a sentence using the words Yellow, Pink, and Green .' Mujibar said, 'The telephone goes green, green, And I pink it up, and say, Yellow, this is Mujibar.' Mujibar now works at a call centre. No doubt you have spoken to him. I know I have.
  13. hi, i hope I've posted this in the correct section. On the 10th January, i had a job interview for a parts person at an auto factors. Following the interview, i was contacted on the following Monday to say they would like to offer me the job and when would i be able to start. As i was still employed i had to give 1 weeks notice and they said that was fine so we agreed that i would start on Tuesday Nd January. So i handed in my notice at my job and proceeded to work my full 1 weeks notice and my last day would be Sunday Th Jan. This morning, I had a phone call from my new employer who said he had some bad news. His had office has postponed all recruitment due to the economic climate. He said although last week they agreed to hire someone, they have no retracted that choice and are now stopping all recruitment, which leaves me with no job. I would like to know where I stand as i am potentially unemployed on the basis that they said i had the job, then let me down, the day before i was suppose to start. Although there was no written confirmation, there was a verbal one which i have been told can be legally binding. Any information would be greatly appreciated. But for now all i can do is keep up the job hut, i haven't been unemployed since i left school and i don't want to be now. Thanks in advance!!
  14. I looking for a bit of advice. My husband has been unwell for the last 18 months and last year had spinal surgery to correct the problem. Since he had the surgery he has suffered blackouts. He went back to work in June but is still suffering. Work has paid for him to have a medical and while the report says he has problems, the company should try and make allowances while the cause is found out. The report also says his problems are covered by the Disability Act. What I'm wanting to know is can they sack him. He has a stage 3 meeting next week to discuss his level of absence and the letter does say that as part of company policy he could be dismissed. We are both worried as if he is dismissed we are not entitled to ESA contribution based and I earn just over the limit for income based. Any help would be appreciated. Joanne

  17. After trying everything to resolve my issue, i have turned to this forum and the Vodafone WRT to come to my rescue! I am writing in regards to the poor level of service that has been provided by vodafone. I am utterly disgusted with the way I have been spoken to and how long it has taken for vodafone to provide me with a service that I am paying for. My household which holds 5 vodafone contracts had been experiencing very poor signals within the household. I rang Vodafone customer services to highlight this matter and to explain that I felt I needed a sure signal box to aid with this issue. The customer services department refused to provide me with one and felt it was more appropriate to leave 5 lines with persistent signalling issues. 6 weeks later, after having to contact the department on over 7 occasions and also being spoken to rudely, I spoke with a manager (Reece) and he couldn't understand why I hadn't been provided a sure signal box from the outset and promised to send one out, of which 2 weeks later I am still waiting for. Due to the unacceptable service I have received, I was ready to cancel all 5 lines and take them elsewhere. however as I explained to the manager I was due an upgrade he promised to organise an upgrade to an Iphone 5 with a significant amount of goodwill for the trouble I have experienced. Since then I have been ready to take an upgrade and take out an additional Iphone contract and have been promised several call backs which never get returned. I received one call which wasn't convenient, and they advised me I would get a call later again in the day (November 12th)... I'm still waiting for a return call. I have since written an email to Cameron (12/11/12) to which I have received no response, and subsequently called in (15/11/12) and spoke with Emma McCaugherty and have had no response. I am at a loss to understand how this issue is still unresolved since bringing it to your attention in September. I have now lost patience, and will no longer be chasing Vodafone for a problem they should be doing their best to rectify. I am prepared to give a final five working days to resolve this issue. After this period, if this issue is still unresolved, I will be consulting my solicitor to resolve this matter.

  20. Hi all I worked the night shift in the Monday Thursday; Tuesday Friday. I had all the bank holidays off work. Since the second shift had a day off (paid) I had lieu day instead. Resigned from my job, but the employer has not paid me for lieu days. A phone call and e-mail did not helped. I am looking for some letter formula that i can use. I do not have time for a visit to Citizens Advice (due new job). Wants to send a registered letter asking for an explanation why not received total payment. Other employees were paid in the form of a day off and I did not. I would use at the same time some strong arguments because nothing else works. Also want to notify them about how not to reply in writing, shall transmit it together with a copy of the letter to ................. just do not know where. Sorry for the chaotic post Martin

  22. Hello, I was terminated on the 3rd of july. My last paycheck should have been on the 31th of July. I received yesterday a letter stating that I had destroyed crucial documents. I did not destroyed anything before or after my dismissal. Before, I couldn't considering that those documents were capital in my daily work and after my access to the company system was blocked immediately. Moreover, they notified me of this "destruction", 23 days AFTER my termination, anyone with access could have done it since. In spite of those facts, my company is withholding my last payment. What should I do?
  23. Was very shocking report. I didnt know that Poland had such a problem, although I have seen the graffiti when been there I didnt know what the slogans meant. The Ukraine report was equally damning and I was shocked to see the videos.I have never seen any examples of this race hate in either Kiev or Kharkiv and how the Police chief said there was no problems when he was interviewed was typical. I think these things in Ukraine are only seen inside stadiums. I have been in Moscow twice and seen running battles with the police and skinheads ...it is a big problem there which is not restricted to football. In fact there are big divisions between North and South, the South being with large Muslim populations and terorist links by factions from the South regions which have made a number of attacks on Moscow in the last few years. It is a war in which Putin has tried to win without much success. I think many people in UK whatever ethnic origin or background will think twice about going to watch any of these games after seeing Panorama. And who can blame them ?
