personally i think voting has become about choosing the lesser of two evils you have to vote to keep the worst out and not the best in

They are all the same. Puppets for the large corporations/private bankers.

Have a look at this (it is about the US, but it is the same here):- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYZpWTvre9c

I don't understand the obsession with getting disabled people into work when there's 2.6 million plus people out there who are unemployed and can work.

Becoming disabled is not life style choice unlike having children therefore if disabled people want to work then why not... I do not like your attitude toward disbale people. The government has been trying to make it very difficult for disabled people to survive making them go for reassessment to get benefits ot live on... are they suppose to die and that would be a big saving for the goverment. :x:mad2::mad2:

think you have taken Nystagmite post out of context.

I agree with you on something though being disabled is not a life style choice, but having children is, are you saying then the goverment should target the ones who keep having children whilst on benefit?

A lot of people who have children on benefit are disabled...

No easy answer

eh? I've got no idea what you're about. I am disabled myself. You've clearly misunderstood me.

What has happened to society? Wasn't it the case that not long ago you lived at home until you could afford to get married and bought/rented your own home?

By which time you were working and able to pay your own way?

Now it just seems that at 17/18 with no job, no prospects, they expect to house/flat share with friends with the taxpayer funding their rent payments.

That to me is not the way things are done. If you can't afford to move out, have no job how can somebody have the nerve to expect that?

I stayed at home. paying lodge money to my mum & dad until I was 28 - 3 years ago. I had saved up, done without, had two jobs, all because I wanted to buy my own place. Am I abnormal? It seems I am.

To get benefit at 17/18 you usually have to BE estranged from your parents so if they are in that situation surely they deserve some help.

They dont normally ask to be thrown out of the famiily home, their parents do it for them

should we just let them live in the hedge then. :(

IMO at least the Tories are trying to do somthing about the benefit culture the other lot just seem to want to give out more and more benefits. Not saying that the current Government are going about it the right way but at least its prompting debate and who knows one day someone may come up with an answer, wont be in my lifetime though.

If I have been of any help, please click on my star and let me know, thank you.

All that is happening is Cameron is going back to basics. The National Assistance Act 1948 started it all off with a nice & simple system.

It was a safety net for those who hadn't paid any National Insurance.

Secondly it was designed to remove the poverty that pensioners found themselves in.

I don't see why we can't go back to where it all started - those that work look after themselves, those in need and have no recourse to any other funding get help.

Where in the original idea does it say that capable 20 year olds should have their rent paid for them

The National Assistance Act 1948 is an Act of Parliament passed in the United Kingdom by the Labour government of Clement Attlee. Itformally abolished the Poor Law system that had existed since the reign ofElizabeth I and established a social safety net for thosewho did not pay National Insurance contributions (such as the homeless, thephysically handicapped, and unmarried mothers) and were thereforeleft uncovered by the National Insurance Act 1946 and the National Insurance(Industrial Injuries) Act 1946. It also provided help toelderly Britons who required supplementary benefits to make a subsistenceliving,[2] and obliged local authorities to provide suitable accommodation forthose who through infirmity, age, or any other reason were in need of care andattention not otherwise available.

Where does is say that they cant then?

And some 20 years havent paid any stamps because there are no jobs out there, my daughter just landed first job, thirteen months of trying, but luckily lives with me for now, well looks like for a long time to come

Have you ever claimed housing benefit then?

If you have, who are you to say somebody else shouldnt be entitled then?

Camoron has a chance to really hack people off in time for a Scottish vote to depart from Westminster, and then have enough time to try to patch it up a little before the general election, after losing so many Scottish labour MPs from the house.

And continued the policy started by Labour to hack into benefits entitlement...

See above ...

Just one question. Whats the wage like in the DWP propaganda dept love? :)

Now THAT made me smile!

I joined the army at 16 to get away from home. I know! Let's bring back National Service. That'll sort it ... :D

Amianne you have said one thing right... Cameron is taking things back...... but not to basics to the Draconian age.....

In my life I have lived through recessions etc but never as bad as this one. I thought the Thatcher years were bad but this government are continually widening the Rich Poor divide. One of the worst things they are doing is causing those who are lucky enough to be in full time employment and healthy enough to hold down a job turn against those who aren't by using the press to shout their damning propaganda.

As I said in an earlier post on this thread, MPs get their 2nd houses paid for, furnished, and runninng costs... is this right? Not in my opinion...... It is hypocritical especially on Cameron's behalf as he has received benefits when he did not financially need them.

I am in receipt of HB and ESA, am I a scrounger? No I have worked all my life untill being hit with a degenerative disease for which there is no cure for.

We do not live in a benefit Culture we live in a hypocritical culture where people are quick to stereotype an individual before ascertaining the facts to their situation

I'm sorry, I thought that was a given. All the parties are the damn same these days, and thats the truly scary thing.

Indeed, sadone, very scary. As things stand, come the next election I don't know who I'll vote for. I'm sure it won't be one of the three main parties. Never again ...

might the reason people give to claim housing benefit is that their are no jobs out there

those that are out there are mostly minimum wage, fixed term or zero hour contracts

no traning or apprenticeships

all affordable housing sold off, landlords asking to high rents, what about rent caps

not everybody works in the financial industry

give us back a manufacturing industry

employment is a RIGHT

not a privilege

Was that a deliberate mis spell of his name by any chance? Lol:lol:

They have made it just as the big multi-nationals wants people really afraid of losing there jobs and will end up giving employer hours of free labour just to keep their employment. This is staff contacts to stay behind and tidy up the large retailer’s floor for free and this could be up giving free labour for up to 10 hours a week.

Wonder what is next on their agenda for everyone, I bet it will be not be a 5% tax cut like boy George gave to their millionaire friends and themselves the front cabinet. The rest of us can go and eat cake.

Boy George had no problems in making the poorest pensioners pay for that nice benefit for them. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr It is enough to make you want to vote for BNP next time around.

I could never vote for them as their policies would mean my grandson and his father would be in line to be kicked out of the country due to black ancestry - not to mention my gay/bi family members, and probably the disabled, and also myself....

No. BNP ain't for me.

I may be getting a little confused here but from what i can deduce when children leave home the parents are now forced to move into a single bedroomed house or have their HB cut, so these families wont have any room for the kids to move into anyway.
