  1. The council are the worse people to deal with they do not talk to each other unless it something determental about tenants or they own them money. He only wishes he never let them inside his home as he had over 2 weeks of hell with their cowboys builders. He feels that it is usless speaking to them as their only interest is looking after their contractors and they can do just what they like in people homes regardless of they are pensioners and or disabled. :mad2:
  2. Not sure if this is right place to put this, however, a very good friend of mine lives in council accommodation the council OHA said that he needed a walk-in shower. He had a very good bath and sink installed by the council a few years earlier and initially only wanted the bath moved a bit to enable him to get in and out of the bath in safety. The council said that could not be done and recommended a walk in shower instead. He got all he specification from the council and even a picture of the shower that was going to be installed. However their contractors gave him a terrible time and they installed a completely shower unit for him. This unit is completely electric and not a mixer shower that could be used with his combination boiler. Anyway the shower malfunction and got to a scalding temperature but the council keeps insisting that does not happen as it is cut out at a certain temperature, but the manufacture instructions does say that they shower can reach scalding temperature if not installed or used properly. Anyway he wants the shower that the council told him that was going to be installed. Is there any thing he can do to insist on getting the shower unit changed to the one that should have been installed. Any suggestion on how he should proceed with this please.
  3. Ignore them, they are trying to get you to pay more and you do not have to do that, keep you payments up to day and if they want to change the existing payments amount they will have to go to court do this.
  4. The letter surely does not automatically push the button itself and jump into an envelop and address it to get to the person that owes the council less than 50p. It would be amazing if that happens on its own, just think the council would be able to get rid of all the highly paid CEO and managers, how much that would save the tax payer and how happy that would make us as well:lol:
  5. That sound about right, I know of a pensioner that owed that amount of rent due and he got a reminder for it and told if it happened again he would be taken to court for it. How nasty and they are suppose to be public servants, we the tax payer pay their salaries. :-x:-x
  6. Insurance with Alliznz through pay as you go home contents with LA. He pays £11 a year for contents of his home. LA builders cause damaged to property and insurance is saying is not covered. Their policy says under breakage cover that glass and mirrors accidental breakages such as mirrors ceramic hops on cooker not built in. But they would not be covered if the home is unoccupied. My relative was out at the time the damage was done and did not find it until retuned home that evening, does this fall in the category of unoccupied. Another clause in the policy which under TV, Satellite and raid receiving aerials and aerial fittings breakage or collapsing. I am not sure if this falls within the TV receiver in the policy either. The council contractors turned off his TV aerial a year ago and did not connect back to the digital on the roof of the of his block of flats resulting in him not getting any digital TV, would that fall within the category in the policy. He was getting digital before the council contractors tuned it off last year. The council has been charging tenants £4 a month for the last 4 years for digital aerial which he as receiving before their contractors tuned it off.
  7. I am making this inquiry on behalf of a disabled relative that is residing in council accommodation. The council contractors were working on the outside of his block of flats and using heavy drills and as a result damage occurred in his flat. Items on the floor and were broken, also he had to pay to have a clean up on his balcony as well as windows where they were working. He took it up with the council and the person responsible for their project called and took photos of the damage. He has been pursing this with the council with no luck. He took legal advice on it and was told that he should write to the contractors asking for payment for the damaged and he has six years from the date of the damage to do this. He has got household insurance through the council but this damage is not included in it because it is classed as accidental damage. Question is if they do not cough up, which he thinks will not happen, can he take a small claims court out for it, bearing in mind that it is less than £200.
  8. My aunt got a walk in shower done during March this year, but she did not have to get a grant as the council OT recommended it and she is social housing. She initially only wanted to have a her bath moved a bit to help her getting in and out of the bath, as the bath was only 2 years old as the sink and toilet, but the OT said she was thinking of her long term needs. The works were a complete disaster with LA workmen as they put in the wrong shower and does not work at all. She was without a toilet for 5 days, as they took it out and did not reinstall it for 5 days, it is only a small bathroom. She would not have went through it if she knew what was going to happened. Afterward she found out that the people that was sent to do the work were self employed and used to be employed by the council as direct workers. They left the council and were working as self employed through that they set up to do this kind of work for the council. It was hell as one of the men did not do any work and was always on the phone and did not turn up most days, also they were very critical of my aunt getting the work done by the council. She said that she would not have entertained them if she had any idea of what was going to happened. She wanted to keep the sink as it was right for her needs but they took it away and put one in that was not useful of her needs. The shower is not working and she is in contact with the council about it but they are on the side of the workmen.
  9. Are you entitled to it under your contract, check that out first, if you are entitled then tell them so. Is there a HR that you can talk to or your manager. I know very large multinationals retailers are trying not to pay some staff company sick pay due them not making up their sale. How long have you been with the company.

She cannot get this on NHS dentist, but they are willing to do it privately. Would her GP be able to referred for the reasons mentioned above.

Is it possible to get NHS dentist to do bridges where there are recurrent absences above one of the tooth of the bridge, it is a large bridge and appears that they do not do that amount of teethes on one single bridge anymore. She has been to the dental hospital where student do work, but the consultant there said that they cannot do it, I think it was because they could not replace bridge for her and was and was advised by the consultant at the teaching hospital to get a local dentist to do it, but is finding it impossible for any dentist practice to do it on the NHS, they want thousand of pounds for the work. She cannot afford that and it is causing her major health problems now. Any advice on this would be great please.
