  1. When I register my 18+ student oyster card I upload wrong picture(my wife's picture) mistakenly. And keep using that oyster card with my wife's picture on it. Yesterday ticket inspector caught me for wrong picture on my card. He took the oyster card with him and issue me a 2 weeks paper travel card. He said British transport police will investigate this. It was a genuine mistake and i was lazy to apply for another 18+student oyster card. Now I am scared........ do you guys think will i get a criminal offense?
  2. On getting the details of what the credit card company had on me to find out why they are persuing me for debt I knew nothing about and is not of my doing. I have discovered in the information supplied that they had issued a credit card in my name using all my details from a previous account that I had paid in full and was dorment for 2 years. I had cut the card up so that it was never used again by any one. That was the advice given at that time.I had also moved from that address so the re issue was never received by me and has been used by someone else. Hence the company persuing me and even have a CCJ in my name. Have the credit card company over stepped the regulations in re-issuing the card for a dorment account and when no request was made from me for them to do so. The company is MBNA.
  3. Hiya Everyone, Long story so i will try and cut it short. I got a car on finance last year (feb) the salesman stated to the finance company (blackHorse) that the car had 38000 miles on the clock, And charged me a 32.9% APR... The 38000 miles is on the Agreement i have got, But the MOT i have from the year before (2010) states the car had 56000 at that point., The car had really got 68000 miles on the clock and not 38000 . So i am now paying a higher price for a car that the finance company paid out on thinking it had alot less miles on it that it really did have. If they had known i doubt they would have paid out all that money against the car. What are your thoughts on this and any response im thankful for
  4. Hi, I really hope someone can help me with this. I attempted to input my Eon readings last night and to my horror, I noticed that all previous readings have been in-putted the wrong around. The Normal rate appears in the Night rate box & visa versa. Eon have sent their meter readers round several times over the course of the last 5 years and not once has this error been noticed or rectified. I rang Eon to report this (about an hour ago) and was told that I have to ring them back later this afternoon as they are currently experiencing a data issue on their servers and they can't access the information they need to in order to deal with my issue. The man I spoke to did say that the readings have been wrong since 2007 which was when the meter was installed and the bills will be amended and back-dated to 2007. Obviously, I'm worried that I've been underpaying for the last 5 years and will now face a huge bill that I cannot afford. I have read up on the billing code and I think I should be covered under this, which means they'll likely ask for back payments for the last 12 months but my argument is as follows: If I have been underpaying, and it's because they have incorrectly set the meter up/failed to notice any errors until I reported them, why should I have to pay them anything? Eon's method of inputting meter readings in online is hugely flawed. Once the readings are in-putted incorrectly, there's absolutely no way of rectifying it. It automatically sets this as the preferred order which means all subsequent readings in-putted thereafter are incorrect. I would really appreciate some advice on how to take this forward. I am dreading ringing them back in a couple of hours time. I have enough on my hands at the moment without entering into a lengthy battle with Eon. Thank you for reading this and thank you in advance to anyone who responds.
  5. URGENT ADVICE REQUIRED REGARDING COURTS SENDING LETTERS TO WRONG ADDRESS!!!! Sorry this may be a bit of a long read but really need advice… Background of the story – In November 2010 my boyfriend was not paying his TV licence as TV ariel broke and TV would not work (he was never in to watch it so didn’t bother getting it fixed). A guy from TV licence came knocking, my boyfriend explained the situation, the guy checked the channels and seen they were all fuzzy, etc, done a statement which my boyfriend signed then he left. In March 2011 he moved address – by this time heard nothing back from TV licence people. When he called to get new TV licence for new property it was mentioned about the problem at the old address and was advised if he paid for a new TV licence in FULL that day the issue would be ‘forgotten about’. So my boyfriend forked out for TV licence in full for new property. In about August 2011 a letter was sent to his OLD address from TV licence to say were taking him to court (TV licence fine). (It was just chance letter was re-posted to us as the person living in his new address knew us). We wrote to them with new address and he did attend court – although this court case was more about him not responding sooner and about the fact they had the wrong address or something like that. Anyway we heard absolutely nothing more about it until May this year – A summons on a tatty piece of paper was sent again to his OLD address!!!! Again, was only passed to us as we knew who was living in the house. We responded with all evidence against TV licence people and made a big fuss about not having the correct address AGAIN! Then another letter from the court was delivered to his OLD ADDRESS AGAIN about a month ago. By this time we were sick to the back teeth of it going to the wrong address. Yes it was passed (only as we know the person who lives there) to us but how are they to know it would be. So as they got this wrong so much we sent it back “return to sender not at this address”. Then this morning another letter was sent to his OLD address. This one looks quite official and red and from the courts. THEY HAVE SEVERAL PICES OF CORROSPONDANCE ON FILE (or they should have as we write to them twice with loads of evidence and complaints about wrong address and stress caused) WITH CORRECT ADDRESS ON! The question is now, do we strike through again and return to sender. At the end of the day, if we didn’t know the person in his old house we would never have got any of these letters!!!!!!! Does anyone know what will happen or can anyone advise what will be best to do? How many times can they be told his new address for goodness sake! They are supposed to be professionals and cant seem to get anything right! Advice would be much appreciated ASAP. Sorry for long post but wanted to explain situation in full for best advice. Thank you (I am posting this in as many forums as possible to seek advice urgently) Kassy x
  6. I have a letter from equita for an old parking fine.It has been delivered to me by a neighbour as my address is wrong(he has written just trying number 145 as my house is 45) ...for example number 45 anystreet instead of number 145 anystreet... Am i legally allowed to ignore this,i am saving to pay the debt(now £145 plus £11.20 fees)but it will take me another 2 weeks to raise it. Can they increase the debt if i dont respond(considering that technically i am not in recepit of any letter)? Thank you!

  9. Hi, rather than copy saying things here is a copy of my E-mail to pcworld; 'Hello, I went into Currys/PCWorld megastore, and looked at monitors. The Samsung monitors were arranged in ascending order and so I thought that a particular monitor was indeed the 24” monitor described on a price tag. Underneath a ‘Samsung Syncmaster SA700’ was the price tag of £159.99 including a £20 cashback offer that I can claim later. However the model that I eventually purchased was a ‘Samsung Syncmaster S24B350’. Before purchase of course I looked to make sure the model number on the box matched that of the price tag. But the monitor that I was looking at to obviously compare screen quality and menu features in the store then and there was the wrong model. I have since searched the model that was incorrectly on display and found that the screen is a 23” monitor as well. No wonder when I got home I was surprised to find a larger screen that I remember, with different buttons, no 120Hz refresh rate, no DVI input option, and a lack of a 3D conversion feature that were all present on the display monitor! I am convinced that it is not a simple case of mistake on my part, as many electrical goods have differing serial/model numbers as has been my past experience with monitors and computer components especially and so assumed that either this was a store model tracking system or an alternative labelling of the product. I look forward to your reply, and thank you in advance for doing so.' So what can I do? Obviously there were no signs that this monitor was not the one on offer for £160. So I don't know what to do, as I had to open the monitor to find this out. I will also post any replies I get, but I have since tweeted them a short message.
  10. Hi, Need some help on how best to deal with this. My OH today received her credit report which showed an entry for a current account with Co-operative Bank. She closed the account in 2007. The entry shows an overdraft balance of £156. However her statements show a balance of £0. Plus, would they have allowed the account to be closed if there was still an amount owing. Any advice please on how best to deal with this. Thanks
  11. My 16yr old son is going to thorpe park today He went on the nationrail website last night, chose a journey and bought the ticket to be collected this morning. He collected the ticket this morning then wasn't allowed to use it as they said it was an off peak ticket and has had to purchase another ticket which was more expensive! The ticket he bought was from Hertford East to Staines and was about £11 (he has 16-25 railcard) and was getting the 6.58 train from Hertford East . A slight complication was that he was actually getting on at Cheshunt which is a few stops later, but he is returning to Hertford East tonight. There is anomaly in our area is that it is cheaper to travel from Hertford East than Cheshunt into london, although it is further down the track on the same line., so when we buy tickets we always ask for tickets from Hertford East to London and the ticket office are quite happy to sell us those tickets and the barrier normally accepts them. Obviously need to get money back for one of the tickets, what is the best way of going about it.
  12. Hi, I wonder if anyone can give me any advice. I changed my bank details with my employer last month and should have been paid today into my Natwest account. As it turns out, I gave the wrong details to my employer so totally my fault. The account number was a digit incorrect. So I spoke to my employer who advised that the account number I had actually given them is invalid so I would need to speak to Natwest to see whether this had been transfered to a suspense account or whether it would simply be rejected and sent straight back. I've since spoken to several different people at Natwest and received different information from everyone I've spoken to. Firstly I was told it would be immediately rejected, then that it would be rejected over night and lastly that it wouldn't be rejected at all, my employer would need to contact them with the faster payment reference number so they could release the funds. I'm not convinced that it's likely my wages are paid my faster payment? All of this was completely hypothetical as no one could discuss anything other than my own account. Until the money is back with my employer they won't release it to my actual account (which is fair given that this is totally my error!). My employer is under the impression that it will probably be returned to them within 48 hours. I just wondered if anyone knew anything about this kind of situation regarding how long this is likely to take to get sorted? Obviously got things to pay for shortly so not likely the sound of "probably"! As the account it's been sent to is invalid, is it likely to be put in a suspense account and require transferring or are they more likely to bounce it back? Any help greatly appreciated!
  13. Hi I have received a letter from this company chasing a debt which they say is for barclaycard for £7000. the name on the letter has a first name, middle name and surname. the first and surname are mine but the middle name is different. The debt is definitely not mine and not just an error on the name. Can anyone offer some advice on how to respond. Should I ignore it or write back. If I write back what should I say that clears it up for good Thanks in advance.
  14. Paying cleaners and tradesmen cash-in-hand is ‘morally wrong’, a minister said yesterday. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2177973/Paying-cleaner-cash-morally-wrong-Minister-says-families-settle-bills-cash-hand-bad-tax-avoiders.html Oi! Ministers! Sort your own house out first! Having been a tradesman that always welcomed the opportunity of the (increasingly rare) cash-in-hand job, I can confidently inform the minister that your average householder faced with "Ok missus, the bill is £xx plus 15% to cover my tax, plus another 20% VAT (where appropriate)" or "£xx for cash", cash will win nearly every time. Besides which if 'Tommy Atkins' turns down the cash work then I guarantee that 'Ivan' & Co won't. And another thing, if the government want's to clamp down on cash and tax issues look no further than black and mini cabs, try insisting that a black cab driver pays tax on his tip, or try to pay a mini cab driver with a cheque.
  15. Hi again, Don't know if you have read previous post, asking for court claim form help. Just checking my documents against the POC. The credit card account no. is different on all my correspondence, to the one they have on the claim form POC. So it looks like the POC are wrong, do I just acknowledge service, get another 28 days, apply for CCA and see what happens from there. Or do I admit debt but point out error, as I expect they will just reissue with correct account no. What do you think? am I just delaying the inevitable. Thanks for any input.
  16. Hi. The inbuilt CD player in my car became faulty and stopped reading CDs, so I bought a used stock headunit from an Ebay seller to replace it with. My car is a Honda Civic so I had the original unit taken out at my local Honda dealer (the dash had to come apart) and they fitted the Ebay replacement. Unfortunately this is also faulty and won't even load a disc. The Honda dealer confirmed they had fitted correctly. The seller's listing made no mention of any faults and is insisting it was ok when he dispatched it. I spent £94 on the replacement unit and £99 on fitting costs. The question is, do I have any right to ask for him to pay towards labour? He has reluctantly agreed to refund the cost of the CD player.
  17. Was alerted to this by a member recently. He was notified around March 2011 by letter that because of what they termed a "Systems error"the wrong policy guide was sent out...which assumingly contained the terms and conditions. They later apologised and sent out the correct ones. I am trying to establish how long after he took out the Policy and began using it,that the mistake was corrected. My thinking is that if the mistake was corrected after the period / scope that he had to cancel, then it would fall within the remit of CPUTR2008. It is significant that this was also around the period of the OFT investigation,so it looks likely that it was in consideration of that, although of course CPP made no mention of the investigation,or that they had been found to have mis sold some of these policies. Will update when there is more info on this case.
  18. Hi, we ordered online an adult return for my 16 year old son to go to school. The system said the charge was £2.90 on the 7.56am so we booked the ticket and collected it from the machine at the station. When he then turned up at the station he was told the ticket was wrong and so had to buy a new one, and took his out ticket. He then returned earlier than expected and was stopped told the ticket was wrong and I have been presented with a £20 fine. We have re-entered the times onto the compter for another day and it still shows a £2.90 return fair for that train. Obviously we will appeal with copies of the paperwork, but if we pay the fine now that appears to be an admission of guilt and means they would not be taking me to court to allow me to have my say if they refuse the appeal. I guess my question is: If I pay and the appeal is refused how would I be able to take it further? Are the rail company actually able to act as judge and jury on their own actions?
  19. Hello all I've just checked my Equifax credit report for the first time, and it's showing a default date of June 2008 for HFC Bank (a Marbles credit card). I'm certain the last time I made a payment was no later than 2006, when I was made redundant. Can a bank 'hold' your account for a period of time before they mark it as defaulted? Many thanks for reading!
  20. Hi, I was accepted for my debt relief order this week, before it was submitted on the day I rang creditors and got up to date balances, these were submitted. My DRO was granted the next day, this morning I received a statement from one of my creditors and it seems the day I rang up for the balances that evening they updated the balance and now one of my amounts is wrong, it is only out by about £9 I actually added extra to the balance in case of charges, so now what do I do? I am so annoyed I asked on the phone was the balance correct for the day and they said yes, no mention of charges being added the end of the day. I know I am not supposed to make payments when the DRO has been granted, but I am afraid now the balance is wrong the company will add charges and interest to the £9 owed and then I will be back to square one again. The creditor is a catalogue and we all know how they like to add on the £12 charges. I am going to ring the insolvency service to ask but they are not there until monday, and I feel anxious about this now, has anyone else been in a similar position who could advise me, any answers or advice greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
  21. Hi i received a photocopied claim form this morning issue dated 12 june is this legal as its only the ninth also is a photocopy legal or is this just somebody trying it on?
  22. Hi, 1st time been in this kind of situation and am seeking some advice as to where I might stand... In Feb 2012 my mortgage went from fixed rate to standard variable. I knew it was going to go down as my fixed rate was more than the SVR. I received an official note from my lender telling what my new payment was going to be, it was actually less than I thought and, as I was in a management position that i hated (and was making me ill) I saw the opportunity to stand down and take a lesser role within the same organisation (proved to be a good move health wise!). The 1st payment on the new rate went through with no issues. When I came to make the 2nd instalment I was told the payment due was £706 more than I had previously paid. Naturally I queried this and was told the mortgage management unit of my lender would contact me within 48 hours...they didn't so I assumed the original payment was correct. When I came to pay the 3rd instalment I was told I was now £706 in arrears, this made me feel sick, I have never been in arrears in 12 years of mortgage. I argued my case and was put through to the mortgage management unit who, after a few questions and denials stated I should never have been sent the 1st letter telling me what my new payment would be (no, really?). I informed them that I had stepped down from my management position on the strength of that letter and could now not afford the suggested new payment (I had still not received the new revised payment information in writing). The mortgage unit then wrote a complaint on my behalf to their complaints dept for investigation...that was 6 weeks ago. Since then I have been inundated with calls from their collections dept asking me to clear the arrears, which are now over £2k. I have received 2 letters from the complaints dept, 1 thanking me for the complaint and that they would investigate it and the 2nd telling me they were still investigating and asking me not to go to the financial ombudsman just yet. I am in fear of losing my house, I have 4 young children and am looking at trying to get work on my days off to try and meet the new payments...which is proving impossible. I have been maintaining the payment originally requested. Can anyone give me some advice as to whether I have a good case to keep my lower payments and thus keep my house? or any suggestions as to what I should do? Many thanks Moogus
  23. Hi, Having yet more travails getting my JSA claim set up and a payment to me sorted. After about 3 weeks and a lot of messing around the benefit delivery centre were due to call me today to arrange a same day payment. When they hadn't by 11am I phoned them and the contact centre told me that, even though they hadn't completed their call back they had sent a FP at 8:55 this morning and it would be in my account by 5pm at the latest. I phoned back at 3pm just to get a second opinion and again it was all confirmed to me, while the bdc hadn't called me they had sent a same day payment. 5pm comes and no payment. I call at 5:10 and get through to someone at 5:50 who confirms a payment has been sent and it should be there. He did notice though that the account the payment was sent to is different to the one I was mentioning... In fact they have sent the payment to the bank account used for my old claim, this bank account being in someone elses name (with me being completely estranged from that person). I know that they have had my new account details because on occasion when I've phoned up they've asked for the last 4 digits of my acc number or my sort code as security and it's been my new (current account). So somehow they've ballsed up and sent the money to somewhere I didn't authorise for this claim. What are my rights with this? They've sent my money to a different person, using details that I gave them last year but from a claim that has been closed for over 10 months. They ignored my new bank details. My housing benefit which I applied for at the same time on the same online form has been paid to my new account so I know it's gone through on the form. If they'd called me as requested I could have confirmed my account details again over the phone. I'm absolutely desperate for the cash now but I have no contact with the person they've paid it to Have I just lost out here?
  24. Hi , Car , BMW 318i , failed it's MOT due to the ABS lights orange on dash so booked a diagnostic check at local garage (quoted £26) , went along and was sent to another garage as that one didn't have the correct equipment .....all good so far , went straight into the other garage , test done in 5 mins which showed both front ABS sensors faulty . Asked price to fix , and was quoted £88+ vat each for the sensors NOT fitted , declined as I'd looked online and knew I could source them much cheaper ( 2 phone calls and got them for £28 each) . Asked them how much they wanted for the diagnostic test expecting it to be around the £30 mark only to be stung for £60 . Pretty peed off but ,hey thats garages for you . Anyway , replaced sensors myself , easy job , one hex bolt and unplug and the sensors off , took a couple of hours tops with tea breaks . But surprise ,surprise the ABS lights are still on . Now I have to fork out for another diagnostic check , can I demand money back from the garage as they have supplied me with a wrong diagnostic check ?
  25. Hi all, The company I work for recently took a client to court and won the case. However the judgement was issued in favour of the defendant by mistake. We quickly got the court to amend the judgement, but it has affected the companies credit report. How can we get this wrong judgement removed from the companies credit report? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
