  1. Thanks for that. They have declined to assist - saying I must provide evidence of the incorrect default date. If I send an SAR to HFC Bank will I be acknowledging the debt? Bearing in mind I have moved address a few times since my last payment to them, the only way I can identify myself is by giving them my old account number. Thanks for your help.
  2. Hello all I've just checked my Equifax credit report for the first time, and it's showing a default date of June 2008 for HFC Bank (a Marbles credit card). I'm certain the last time I made a payment was no later than 2006, when I was made redundant. Can a bank 'hold' your account for a period of time before they mark it as defaulted? Many thanks for reading!
  3. Thanks! It would actually be quite amusing if they DID send someone round, because they'd have a lot of door bells to try before they found the right one
  4. Thank you for all the advice. I think I will sit tight and see if they manage to send a letter to my correct address - it was literally only by chance that I found this letter as it was left on the floor in the communal area as the postman didn't know where to put it! If they DID go down the court road, and I didn't know because the letters went to the wrong address, would I be able to get any adverse judgement reversed? Thanks...
  5. Hi and thanks for reading this. I had a letter from Lowell's about a debt with HBOS in which they mention 'previous letters sent' and tell me that unless I make contact NOW they will send an agent round. The thing is, they have got my address wrong. The have the correct number and street but left off the flat number, which is probably why I haven't received the previous letters. What do you advise? Should I sent off a CCA request, or just ignore it as they haven't bothered to use the full address. Chances are if they do send more letters or an 'agent', I will never know about it!! Are there any risks in ignoring a wrongly addressed letter? Thanks in advance.
  6. Thanks for that. My bank account is nothing to do with the ones I am in dispute with, but I was a bit worried they could find out how much money I had. Thanks for your reassurance!
  7. Thanks for reading this post, what an incredibly useful site! I'm going through voluntary redundancy right now, and will get a reasonable payout but will still need to look for a new job fairly soon. I am also in dispute with three credit companies with debts in the region of £15,000. None of them have yet been able to provide a single dodgy copy of the original agreement, let alone a valid one Is there any way these companies or DCAs can find out about my redundancy pay? Obviously I will have to pay it into my bank account - can they discover that I suddenly (albeit temporarily) have some funds? Any advice gratefully received, thanks.
  8. Hi all and many thanks for reading. I've just returned home (from two weeks working away) to find a Statutory Demand from Restons Solicitors about an overdue Marbles account, with 3500 GBP owed. I last paid towards the account in March but have been so strapped and in other debt since then I couldn't afford anything more. I did get a warning letter from them just before I went away but didn't respond - yeah I know that was stupid. Problem is - the Demand is dated 17 July, it says I only get 18 days to reply. Really worried - what is my next best step? Any advice very gratefully received. Claire.
