  1. Yep, very happy with my BT price plan. Means I never have to worry about phoning the DWP as it's always a free call.
  2. Me too. Eventually. (And congratulations, m'dear, in case I forgot to say at the time).
  3. As far as I can see, it's been £10 since the '70s. Out of interest, something worth £10 in 1975 would be worth £71 today. Time for a raise?
  4. Quite. Most printers have scanners these days and I just scan any evidence I get onto my PC then print off as required.
  5. ^^^ that, m'dear, is all you have to show. And if you have any written supporting evidence from your consultants etc then even better. Good luck on the day.
  6. I'm afraid I don't follow your reasoning. From what you've said, you can't repeatably walk 200m. No problem. You then need to show why a manual wheelchair wouldn't help you. You said your consultant was amused at the very thought. So, clearly, there is a reason why you can't use a manual wheelchair. I assume this is down to your illness or prognosis - neither of which we on the forum are privy to.
  7. To be fair to the DWP, they do send out a lot of letters and they don't all arrive at the same time. If you've progressed to the Support Group you'll get confirmation in writing at some point. But, to be absolutely sure, give them a ring on Monday. Sounds promising.
  8. I don't believe it will affect your entitlement at all. However, I personally would notify the DWP et al anyway as it keeps everything above board.
  9. You've probably thought of this already, so apols, but have you contacted the British Legion or SSAFA?
  10. It means, essentially, that you have reached the promised land. You don't need to send any more (un)fit notes and you should be left in peace for the duration of your time in the Support Group. You may wish to phone your DWP and ask how long you've been placed in this group as it does vary considerably. As always, there is the caveat that the DWP could reassess anyone at any time for any reason. But, generally speaking, you can relax for a while.
  11. It's perfectly normal. It's not unusual for different Government departments to use parts of the same building. In my area the set up is exactly the same as yours - Job Centre, DWP offices, HM Courts all in the same big building. Good luck.
  12. Has been a while, so nice to say hi hw. I'm half wondering if it's some sort of regional variation.
  13. THIS may not be much help at all, hw, but maybe it will sprout some ideas ...
  14. Personally, I don't see what the problem is. Does it matter if you're observed in the waiting room or not? If you have trouble sitting and standing up, you'll have that trouble in the waiting room. Likewise with walking. Or hearing. Or seeing. Or whatever.
  15. 1. Don't panic. 2. Don't panic. 3. Don't panic. 4. Have a cup of tea. 5. Telephone the DWP for clarification - how they pay you is never straightforward. 6. Have another cup of tea. 7. Don't panic. 8. Don't panic. 9. Relax. 10. Is it lunchtime yet? It's unlikely they have overpaid you. But, if they have, it's only a wee sum and would be paid back in small repayments.
  16. If it's to do with arrears and bailiffs, there is an excellent bailiff forum on CAG, you can find it HERE. You'll get good advice and assistance there.
  17. Have you telephoned Npower regarding your claim for this year? My understanding is that each year is treated on it's own merits. I applied to SSE in September, heard nothing back, phoned today and was informed they'd received my application and it had been accepted. Their confirmation letter had obviously gone astray in the post.
  18. If it's income based JSA then you may well do so, G_g. That's what it says in the OP ...
  19. I appreciate that, m'dear, and know I'm fortunate. But I wonder - without straying too far off topic - how many of our CAG catchment have no landline or no broadband or no pc etc. Surely it has to be infinitesimal? Genuine question and, I know, I'm asking from the prejudice of having all that stuff - and, momentarily at least, feeling like landed gentry ...
  20. As usual. I'm confused. I appreciate that if you don't have a landline then life is awkward. But, surely, you're in a real minority. I'm on disability benefits - so appreciate my 'income' may be higher than some. Broadband is my social lifeline. But to have that I also need a landline. (I don't understand these here smartphones and stuff*). So I have to pay BT for line rental. I also opted to buy their 'anytime' calls package - or whatever they call it. Essentially line rental plus about £4 or £5 per month. Since then I have never paid for a phonecall. Including hours and hours and hours on hold to my DWP BDC. It's all included. * I'm also 'old'
  21. Please don't confuse me. I'm assuming this is DLA not ESA ...
