  1. From reading around this forum, I get the impression that a compliance request is a random check to make sure everything is as it should be. Which, as an interpretation, is fine. However, whilst I'm not really an advocate of spin, I do think - if that interpretation is correct - this is an old name that needs serious updating. Compliance smacks of a bureaucratic need to check. To ensure you're complying with the rules. In today's world, it automatically makes you feel guilty. It causes needless stress and worry. But this check could result in finding benefits are being underpaid. It's not all about the 'customer' being wrong. So we need a better name that reflects that. My Housing Association - like many - have a team to examine benefits. They are called Money Matters. Ok, a pretty naff name but you get the gist. The DWP need a 21st century rethink on this ...
  2. And a heartfelt 'glad you're getting better, estellyn' from those of us who aren't around as often as we were.
  3. In nearly five years of dealing with the DWP, I'm yet to come across one that isn't polite, intelligent and very helpful*. Guess I'm just lucky! *touches wood.
  4. Lol. claire is a top notch first class WUMmeister.
  5. Ah, but did you know it's also a minced oath? Cor blimey!
  6. Or, for Atos healthcare 'professionals', the hypocrtic oath ...
  7. From what you've said so far, you really have nothing to worry about with ESA.
  8. Three consecutive ESA applications, two failed Tribunals, four and a half years of financial and physical hell before getting placed into the Support Group for the maximum time. All that doesn't even equate to one half day in the life of one camp inmate. Now, that's enough of my observations. Back to the actual problem in hand please ...
  9. I believe Godwin's Law framed this quite nicely.
  10. With regard to opening documents, are you downloading them as opposed to opening on the screen? It does happen quite fast and before you know it the message has disappeared and the things lurking somewhere on your laptop. Fortunately, I know which file my downloads go to automatically and can locate the docs. Check wherever yours go to on your laptop.
  11. Oh, don't feel awkward. Most people on here care, many have gone through what you're going through - and none of us know who you are anyway!
  12. Don't be afraid to be imaginative. List your medication and side effects. You could enclose a photocopy of the leaflet that comes with the medication or you could probably download information online and include that. It's up to the DWP to sort the wheat from the chaff and, in my experience, the more you can send the better. The DWP will be quite aware of medications and side effects. Also have a look at the DWP A to Z of medical conditions. It won't hurt, you can find it here.
  13. Just take your time. It doesn't matter if your Consultant is on holiday as any evidence they might be able to provide can be sent off separately to the DWP. Use as much detail as possible. It doesn't matter if there isn't enough space as you can attach as many extra pages as you wish. Don't forget you can also attach a copy of your prescription.
  14. I've never been charged for supporting evidence by my GP. She has readily supplied copies of documents that I thought would be useful as well as letters of support. The DWP were charged for a report for DLA and I was given a photocopy gratis. It proved useful, amongst other evidence, for my ESA claim. For my particular illness, my GP surgery is acknowledged by my local hospital as being able to offer better care then they can. Which is why I've never seen a Consultant there as I already get the best treatment available.
  15. As said, get back to the DWP asap. I know hanging on the phone is a pain in the proverbials but might just be worth your while on this. The first question to ask is how long you have been put in the Support Group for. Bear in mind this will be back dated to, iirc you said, November 2012. So if they say anything more than about 8-12 months you can then state that ATOS seem to have made an error with the latest request etc.
  16. Whilst you're on the phone to them ask how long you have been put in the Support Group for. They will usually tell you over the phone. The maximum length is 3 years but it might be a lot less. Just gives you an idea.
  17. But please don't let that stop you putting in a fresh claim. I believe they can run concurrently.
  18. Well, you've failed once but don't be disheartened. On the plus side, you now have some experience of the procedure and the types of evidence you're going to need. Don't chuck out any evidence of your medical condition you have. Keep it and add to it for use later. As has been said, don't forget about the repetitive nature of tasks. Just because you can do it once, doesn't mean each time isn't harder and harder. Does your condition affect your stamina? Does it lead to chronic fatigue? These are worth bearing in mind. It took me three applications, two failed WCAs and two failed Tribunals before I was put straight into the Support Group. So I understand the bloody mindedness and determination you'll need. It can be done. I had no help at all btw. (Apart from the excellent support of CAG.)
  19. You need to organise. Use a calendar or a diary and make a note of when your med cert runs out. Two or even three weeks beforehand get another one issued. It doesn't matter if they overlap. You cannot rely on the DWP to remind you - as you've just found out. No med cert = no payment. Make this a priority.
  20. Are you sure they got them from facebook? Have you done a google search of your name? Click 'images' and see if the photos are elsewhere online.

Oh, another WUM on the forum. ** grabs popcorn **
  22. DLA have written to me asking for my birth certificate so that they can check my date of birth. I don't have a problem with that and will send it off signed for on Monday. I'm just curious to know if this is just some sort of random check and have others had the same request. I've been in receipt of DLA for about 10 months.
  23. Just to confirm, my (un)fit notes were for three months at a time. But make sure you diary when they are due to run out and arrange a new one a good week or two before the expiry date. It doesn't matter if the end dates overlap but it does matter if you forget to send a new one in - no (un)fit note = no money.
  24. I imagine the WCA only seemed strange because you were expecting a medical. It's not, nor ever has been, a medical. It is an assessment to determine if you are capable of any work whatsoever. I would suggest you make an appointment to see your GP asap to discuss your medical situation. You're not wasting their time, it's what they get paid for. Apart from that, you will need to send in (un)fit notes from your GP throughout the appeals procedure.
  25. Indeed. Simply phone up your BDC and they will tell you how long the Support Group is for.
