Hi,

thank you for being here,

it's been a great help to me today when I received a visit similar to the ones on these forums for someone else.

The "We missed you today when we called to deliver/collect" ticket was handed to me when I answered the door to a man holding a letter.

I confirmed the person was not home and asked if I could accept delivery and he said it had to be the person named due to a signature being required for the

. . . (didn't say if it's a letter or a package just that they needed to sign for it).

The note he handed me is quite a thick card and having received lots of we missed you messages in my postbox

I was curious about the thickness, design and the inability he had to allow me to accept it

given the options of "we left your item at A) your neighbour at (box to be filled) and B) a safe place (box to be filled)".

It's hand written, so they have learned from their previous pre printed responses,

but the design led me to believe that it is false because it's difficult to read the black writing on British Racing Green colouring,

as is the logo, also it's one sided - I'm used to a two sided ticket.

Finally the language of "Please call 0845 652 0004 to arrange re-delivery" is odd as I'm used to re-arrange delivery

- due to the many packages I have missed over the years,

which of course I have specifically arranged in the first place.

Very unfair practice.

Most of the time, if you try to contact them, they say there is a customs charge or extra charge for delivery. This is most definitely a trick to get money or better still, your credit card details from you.

If it was customs, you would receive a letter from the customs office, not an email.

If it was a delivery charge, you would know what you ordered and who shipped it and therefore, know where to pay the extra delivery charge. Go to that website directly and not via a link or URL supplied by the delivery guy. If you enter the tracking number, it will tell you if there's a delivery charge.

If the package is unsolicited, just treat it as a trick immediately.

(why is the word "s c a m" moderated out and show as [problem]?)

sadly its because we are equally responsible for a msg content.

libellous words directly linking to a specific company or person could cause us trouble.

if you read this thread

you'll see APS are process servers.

Which is daft of them.

If they are process servers : they don't want your money or CC details : they want to get a signature for delivery.

Why risk the recipient saying "I'm not paying customs charges, return it to sender"?

Process Servers are just there to deliver important documents such as Stat Demands etc as per official instructions.

They want to get a Signature to verify that it is you, they can then confirm they served the documents correctly.

We could do with some help from you.

Actually, for packages requiring a Customs payment, generally the recipient will not be contacted byHMRC direct. What normally happens is that the courier/Royal Mail pays the charges on the recipent's behalf, and then recouping it from them upon delivery, usually slapping on an overly inflated a "admin charge" in the process.
