    • Commentary June 2024 WWW.ELECTORALCALCULUS.CO.UK Interesting article about just how bad it could be for the Tories.  Also Tories could be hoping on Reform not having candidates in many seats, as they were not ready.
    • Even a Piers Morgan is an improvement and a gutless Farage Piers Morgan calls for second Brexit referendum WWW.THELONDONECONOMIC.COM Piers Morgan and Nigel Farage have faced off over Brexit and a second referendum in a heated reunion on BBC Question Time.   “Why don’t we have another referendum about Brexit?” he questioned. “I seem to remember when 2016 came around we were told there was going to be control of our borders and it was going to be economically beneficial to this country. And eight years later we have lost complete control of our borders… and economically it seems to have been a wilful act of self-harm.”   ... Piers missed off : after all somebody said a 48/52 decision would be "unfinished business" by a long way - was that person just bul lying (again)
    • when did they (who) inform you there was a 'police case' and when was this attained? i will guess the debt is now SB'd as it's UAE 15yrs. have you informed the bsnk ever by email/letter of your correct and current address? you can always ignore anyone else accept the bank,  Block and bounce back all emails. Block any text messages  Ignore any letters unless it's: - a Statutory Demand - a Letter Of Claim - a Court Claimform via Northants bulk.
    • I left Dubai 8 years ago and intended to return. However a job prospect fell through. I’d been there for 15 years. I decided to pay my credit card and the bank had frozen my account. There is no means to pay the CC so completely unable to pay when I wanted to other than the bank advising me to ask a friend in the UAE to pay it on my behalf!  fast forward bank informs there is a police case against me for non payment. Years later IDR chased me and after months/ years they stopped. Now Judge & Priestley are trying their luck. Now I have received an email in English and Arabic from JP saying the bank has authorised them to collect debts. Is this the same as IDR although I didn’t receive anything like this from them. Just says they are authorised?

    • Hello,

On 15/1/24 booked appointment with Big Motoring World (BMW) to view a mini on 17/1/24 at 8pm at their Enfield dealership.

Car was dirty and test drive was two circuits of roundabout on entry to the showroom.  Was p/x my car and rushed by sales exec and a manager into buying the mini and a 3yr warranty that night, sale all wrapped up by 10pm.  They strongly advised me taking warranty out on car that age (2017) and confirmed it was honoured at over 500 UK registered garages.

The next day, 18/1/24 noticed amber engine warning light on dashboard , immediately phoned BMW aftercare team to ask for it to be investigated asap at nearest garage to me. After 15 mins on hold was told only their 5 service centres across the UK can deal with car issues with earliest date for inspection in March ! Said I’m not happy with that given what sales team advised or driving car. Told an amber warning light only advisory so to drive with caution and call back when light goes red.

I’m not happy to do this, drive the car or with the after care experience (a sign of further stresses to come) so want a refund and to return the car asap.

Please can you advise what I need to do today to get this done.

      Many thanks

    • We have finally managed to obtain the transcript of this case.

The judge's reasoning is very useful and will certainly be helpful in any other cases relating to third-party rights where the customer has contracted with the courier company by using a broker.
This is generally speaking the problem with using PackLink who are domiciled in Spain and very conveniently out of reach of the British justice system.

Frankly I don't think that is any accident.

One of the points that the judge made was that the customers contract with the broker specifically refers to the courier – and it is clear that the courier knows that they are acting for a third party. There is no need to name the third party. They just have to be recognisably part of a class of person – such as a sender or a recipient of the parcel.

Please note that a recent case against UPS failed on exactly the same issue with the judge held that the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 did not apply.

We will be getting that transcript very soon. We will look at it and we will understand how the judge made such catastrophic mistakes. It was a very poor judgement.
We will be recommending that people do include this adverse judgement in their bundle so that when they go to county court the judge will see both sides and see the arguments against this adverse judgement.
Also, we will be to demonstrate to the judge that we are fair-minded and that we don't mind bringing everything to the attention of the judge even if it is against our own interests.
      This is good ethical practice.

It would be very nice if the parcel delivery companies – including EVRi – practised this kind of thing as well.

Ha ha ha ha :pound: stop please I'm gonna wet myself......Oh dear god, I needed a good laugh, that is hilarious!

They have awards!! Oh pound.gifboy, they really do think they do a worthy job, I reckon they're missing a trick here, they should be in comedy, not inflating their ego's with lame award ceremonies.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

And that is exactly why they will continue to con people and run roughshod over any and every legislation and guidelines in force, because they all are truly 'in it together'.

I'm surprised that no-one from experian was on the judging panel, their in the pockets of these DCA's, or is it the other way round??

an entertaining evening with our top host, unruly TV personality and comedienne Ruby Wax

Pity that someone who confesses to have suffered from depression allows herself to be used by an industry that does more to cause depression in people than most other conditions put together

It certainly does. The shear hell you go through at the hands of these debt collectors is immesurable. It certainly made me ill.

Was just reading the bit under Sara De Tutes picture.......

A qualified solicitor, Sara joined the executive board of leading debt purchaser, the Lowell Group in May 2012 as legal and compliance director. Prior to that, she was legal and compliance director at Wescot Credit Services where she spent nine years. In 2008, she was appointed to the board of directors of the Credit Services Association and, after two years, as vice president, she became president in September 2011. As part of her role, she regularly meets with the credit industry regulators, other trade bodies, responds to consultation papers, sits on a number of strategic working parties and is playing a key role in helping to prepare for transition to the FCA for the CSA and its members. She regularly produces articles for the industry press and is often called upon for comments on regulatory and compliance issues.

Theres no hope is there........

Could you imagine having a CAG table at next years ceremony and CAG sponsoring an award. Perhaps, most online complaints. There would be plenty of puzzled looks around the room.icon7.png

We could do with some help from you.

LMAO!! Oh my if I hadn't off read it on here I would never believed there was such a thing as DCA awards!!

Loved the Do's & Don't section, where they had to show proof of evidence etc & no fabrication. These Cowboys operate on lies & intimidation, now there's awards for them? Unbelievable!!

P.S. Would love to see CAG sponsor an award (such as above), that would be TFF!! Lol

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every single minute of it!!

The Palace Hotel must be a bit hard up for conference parties this year if they let this lot in. Shame there weren't any sabotage attempts by disgruntled hotel staff who’d had dealings with any of the DCAs involved.

Maybe there was.... no wont go into that at this time of day!

I think Ruby Wax should have considered her appearance more, but the truth is that many personalities will appear at pretty much any event, if the money is right. I suspect that for one such evening they would have paid £20k+. Having worked in financial services (not debt collecting), these companies splash the money out for events that publicise their companies.

As for depression, this is often an ongoing medical issue and debt just makes it worse. If Ruby had thought about it, perhaps she considered that debt is a normal part of life and does not cause depression. For people with depression they should be receiving ongoing medical treatment for it. Perhaps if she was aware of people driven over the edge by debt collection, she may not have attended.

I think it's great that these hard working, fair, honest and professional agencies have their dedication recognised. :lol: I had to laugh at the rules, they must have come up with them after the event.

I look forward to receiving my next letter from Mack Hall. Bet their letter head shows their Consumer DCA of the year award! It should read Consumer Complaints DCA of the year.

And what is best use of technology award? Apex must have the 'one finger letter generator' button down to an art.

This did cheer me up, thanks for posting it!!

Compliance team of the year - 1st crud!

Seriously?! NON - compliance team yes certainly! I can't see how they're compliant with anything if they are happy to verbally abuse a heavily pregnant woman! Mind you, the hormones did make short work of them.....

Perhaps CAG could have their own awards ceremony every year to run in conjunction with theirs? On the tinternet of course.
