Things turn nasty today as Protectors turn up at a company called Pete Marquis to ask them

to think twice about supplying Fracking Sites.

First time I have ever seen someone dragged off while tubed in a barrel of concrete.

Very dangerous and not sure if is illegal to do.

The boss asked workers to drag people off.

Check out what actions the police took.

Also a pop up protest at AE Yates-Bolton this morning.

PNR yesterday.

Someone seems to get dragged off a bike and one ends up through a fence.

A violinist aged 55ish a teacher at a school was arrested while playing music outside

the gates to the Fracking Site.

“Lancs homes to be heated by local shale gas by early 2018” – Cuadrilla exec-

A Cuadrilla executive has predicted that shale gas from the company’s site at Preston New Road near Blackpool is likely to be used in local homes by early next year.

Matt Lambert, the company’s director of government and public affairs, told a Lancashire business conference this week:

Plenty of comments.

This is now turning into a long thread.

My interest began in Fracking in 2014 when I went to learn a little about Fracking. That starts on page one.

When the energy minister came to Blackpool to meet the Frackers and other interested parties.

As you look around the world and see countries and what is happening to them and do a little research not as people like myself say you soon become concerned, to put it mildly.

Now when Cuadrilla Fracking turned up in Blackpool back in January with a surprise stealth attack I started writing a small article with links, videos, news etc.

That starts on page 8 for those that want to see how things have progressed since then in Blackpool.

A tourist destination in the North West of England.

Save you wondering if you are outside looking in what has happened since then.

Good heavens it is 3-35 in the morning.

Time to roost.

Just popping back and expanding a touch on the Nuclear worries.

Fossil Fueled Earthquakes at the UKs Two Key Nuclear Sites?

Nuclear and Fracking Campaigners across the UK have joined forces to oppose fossil fuel extraction within the vicinity of the UK’s key nuclear installations, Sellafield in Cumbria and Springfields in Lancashire.

Questions like.

What is the worst thing (barring terrorist attack) that could happen to Sellafield or any nuclear installation?

Link for those that are interested which I would think many are.

Answer

A. Earthquake

Earthquakes are known to be caused by “The extraction of resources, including groundwater, coal, hydrocarbons and geothermal fluids, as well as tunnel excavation which have also been reported to induce earthquakes, as have injection activities. Injection activities include waste fluid disposal, hydrofracturing (commonly known as hydraulic fracturing or fracking)” http://inducedearthquakes.org/causes-of-induced-seismicity/

Campaigners warn of fracking threat to whisky industry

Potential fracking activity in Scotland could damage the whisky industry, which supports more than 10,500 Scottish jobs, according to campaigners.

The Scottish Government is considering whether to allow fracking for shale gas, with the central belt earmarked by industry as a target for development.

The activity could then be rolled out in other areas of Scotland after public consultation is concluded on May 31

And the earthquake thoughts. The more you research the more you realise this is not for our tiny island or anywhere.

These articles just arrived fresh from the BBC.

'Fossil' groundwater's modern secret.

The world's oldest and deepest waters are not immune from contamination, warn scientists.

It had been assumed that "fossil" reserves found hundreds of metres underground would be largely untouched by modern water sources.

But sampling from some 10,000 wells shows this not to be the case.

The new study reveals that about half of the deep groundwater has had contact with rains and snows that fell in the past 60 years.

Ministers lose bid to delay air pollution plan.

The UK Government has lost a court bid to delay publication of its air pollution strategy, and must publish before the June election.

Courts had given the government until Monday 24 April to set out draft guidelines to tackle illegal levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) pollution.

But late last week, ministers lodged an application to delay their release until after the general election.

Government lawyers had told Mr Justice Garnham that publication would drop a "controversial bomb" into the mix of local and national elections

The High Court ordered the plans to be published on 9 May, immediately after the local elections.

you mentioned there about ground water not being immune from some poss prior contamination.

a recent study in the US says that they had taken samples prior to fracking on a specific site which showed some contamination in well water in the specific area prior to fracking (due to whatever), and since fracking no real changes.

but, surface water cld be (and has been) contanimated re a leak/spill.

Always like looking at countries where Fracking has taken place on a big scale to see what they find. See studies that have been carried out.

New study finds much higher methane release from oil and gas fracking

The environmental “footprint” of fracking and the oil and gas industry is about to change dramatically, and not for the better.

An interesting statement accompanying a picture.

Field assistant Makz Werring places an inflatable balloon on the vent pipe of a well suspended in 2010 to measure the flow of gas. Pressure and volume of methane being vented is enough to quickly inflate the condom

A new study by the environmental group David Suzuki Foundation and St Francis Xavier University, shows about 50 percent of wells are either leaking or deliberately venting, methane which is an extremely potent greenhouse gas.

Greenpeace: We’re blocking Cuadrilla’s fracking site.

Most of Gill’s early mornings are spent travelling to her job as a costume designer from her home in Blackpool. But this morning was a little different. Today, Gill is one of twenty people going face to face with fracking firm Cuadrilla.

As you read this, Gill - and about twenty other Greenpeace volunteers - are aiming to fully stop work at Cuadrilla's site. This morning at around 8AM, they locked themselves to heavy, reinforced blocks in front of Cuadrilla's site, blocking the entrance and preventing vehicles from delivering supplies.

Since January, Cuadrilla has turned what once was a quiet countryside into an industrial zone. They’ve done this despite overwhelming local opposition, and despite the local county council voting against the industry's drilling plans.

Contunues on the link.
