Martin Lewis believes there's only a 10 to 20% chance of a refund using the new argument.... What?

that is only his view remember at this early stage of the next round he has to be careful with what he says quite right too id hate to be in his shoes he will now more once the two barristers have looked into this more and got those templates prepared PF

In my opiion, and only mine i must add,his whole article on his site makes for gloomy reading,i think he would have been better not saying anything rather than what he has said.

I know he cant give false hope to people but reading his statement gives the impression that things are not too good and i dont think thats the case.

To be honest, there has been exactly 5 days since the Supreme Court decision and the OFT have had the judgement for 12 days without any real comment apart from disappointment on the judgement. One good aspect has been that the threat LloydsTSB had given for going for strikeouts appears to have been withdrawn for now. The dust is still settling and the analysis of the judgement is ongoing. At the moment, it is not all doom and gloom but we have to remain cautious whilst ongoing analysis, advice and discussions are still going on.

Fair comment,i was not trying to pull Martin Lewis down because you cant deny he has done some damn good work helping people reclaim and making people aware,i was just dissapointed with his comments really

Martin has to be cautious about what he says and I think he's probably more aware of it now. There's people on his own forum blaming him for building this hype, quite wrongly in my opinion, but he is trying his best.

He sure is... trying his best... instructing a substential set of commercial barristers to come up with legal advice so the 'wagon' can roll up again!

“I would say to the House as I said to those who have joined this government: I have

nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat. We have before us an ordeal of the

most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of

suffering.

You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory. Victory at all costs —

Victory in spite of all terror — Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for

without victory there is no survival.”

News reporting is one of the most stringently controlled forms of media on TV. There has to be a totally unbiased approach. For example when they interview someone for comment that must show all sides. If anyone can show the BBC or any TV programs shows biased then complain about them. You might always note that in cumsumer affair programs the government tend to 'not be available for comment' but in Main News programs they never refuse.

I've watched ML often and I have to say that he's good in the way he's never shown himself as a dramatist. He comes over and has a 'look' of being open and fair. If he does lull the banks into a false sence of 'smugdom' then he'll end up being a bit of a cult hero.

When I was young I thought that money was the most important thing in life; now that I am old I know that it is. (Oscar Wilde)

--I like to be helpful wherever possible however I'm not qualified in this field. I do consider carefully anything important (normally from personal experience) however please understand that any actions taken are at your own risk--

My issue with ML MSE is the fact that he doesn't "know" what he is talking about, himself. To put that in context, it's clear that he has never had financial problems, only experiencing helping others, to the extent that I've seen on CAG over my time.

He's very media savvy, too, which throws me right off him. I'm always looking for the sub-context of what he is talking about, as he doesn't seem, on the face of it, to be trustable.

The fact the forums on MSE don't support some of his views just goes to prove my point, I think.

Anyway, CAG is the place for me - viva la CAG...

Totally agree, Car. I've always found the MSE forums unfriendly and unpredictable. One never knows what reaction to expect, as many members seem to be of the "you spent it so pay up" brigade, regardless of circumstance.

That said, I hope his celebrity at least helps to highlight the cause.
