Of course Debt Collection Agencies don't like forums such as CAG, the forums are depriving them of income, they are educating debtors in the ways of these "people"

Until the internet made such information freely available, these "people" had free reign to simply make it up as they went along.

Now that governments have changed and the public are more aware of the business models used by these "people" I look forward to see a gradual tightening of the regulations surrounding their activities and a siginificant increase in the unemployment figures from the closures, say about 14000 would just about do it.

well PT your handle has been mentioned, and rammises Peter Shame on you you certainly have got ther bit between your teeth, now then i seem to remember the arguements you would put forward and sadly you could not accept the critisism that came with your posts as PT would have to correct some misconceptions you had as i saw it ..

Hi all,

I only logged on today to get the CCA template and came across this thread.

If anyone from the Credit Today forum is watching this, I'd just like to say that in my opinion you are talking a lot of drivel.

Had it not been for all the help and advice I have received from CAG over the last year or so, I believe that your industry would have succeeded in your efforts to reduce me to a complete wreck with your constant 'helpful' telephone calls and letters.

So to anyone new to CAG who reads that forum on Credit Today, please don't believe a word of it and stick with the excellent advice that are always being given here.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH GUYS!!!!

Sorry, rant over

Regards

Molly :)

This is the issue here. The people on Credit Today don't want you knowing your rights, they don't want their "clients" to be able to answer back or to take advice from people who may not be qualified solicitors but have in some cases more knowledge in the area of CCA than many solicitors.

They don't want their actions reported by their "clients" to the various bodies. They don't want your CCA request or SAR because they then know they will come under scrutiny on here and they know that they can't then get away with the outrageous actions that constitutes their standard operating procedures.

They want it all their own way. The want us to be frightened and to accept their threats without question even though in many cases the DCA's are being deceitful, actively lying, using underhand and sometimes illegal methods to chase debts in full that they have paid pennies in the pound for.

They do not want us to question them, their methods or their threatograms and threatocalls.

They say "do as we say not do as we do" and many of them are now it would seem struggling under the weight of their own illegal and underhand activities.

They get all that they deserve. They have a job to do but there are ways and means.

The shouldn't buy unenforceable debts and pretend they can enforce them or launch legal action hoping that this will scare people and enforce and unenforceable debt through scare tactics and threats.

The shouldn't phone over and over again, they shouldn't send cards pretending they have a package for you, or send "courier messages" to your neighbours.

The shouldn't issue Stat Demands, dodgy Default Notices or County Court action when they don't have the right paperwork.

How about only buying legitimate enforceable debt and actually working with the debtors to try and resolve it?

Not frighten them with bailiffs, CCJ's, loss of home and other ambiguously worded threats that can cause untold misery to people and has led to some people taking their own lives.

Don't add punitive interest rates which only exacerbate problems when they have no hope of getting the original amount back let alone spurious interest and penalty charges.

Work to what people can afford and get them to pay that, then leave them alone to get on with paying it and to continue living their lives.

It will save them money in costs, probably result in them receiving more money from debtors and improve their standing as an industry.

I believe that methods aside the biggest problem with the debt collection industry is they have a fundamental inability to understand that not everyone is a cheat looking to fleece money out of financial institutions.

Most people are good honest hard working people who due to circumstances are unable to pay the commitments they took on when their circumstances were better.

Lost your job? Tough luck pay us our money.

You've become ill? Tough luck pay us our money.

Had to stop work to care for a family member? Tough luck pay us our money.

Until they grasp this concept or are forced to grasp it by Govenrment they get all they deserve and i for one raise a toast to this forum and the excellent contributors on it.

Long may it continue.

There again, if you say anything they don't agree with..... you will be deletedSo perhaps they're carrying on the Dr Who theme by pretending they're CybermenPS I'm NOT a practising barrister or Solicitor. Never have been. I'm sorry that they are too illiterate to understand what I've put on my signature; perhaps we should start a collection to get them the basic reading and writing skills?

I am a lawyer, but I am an academic lawyer. I do not practice as a barrister or solicitor. You should consult a practising Solicitor BEFORE taking any Court or other action

One thing I have never been able to work out about DCA's is why they call 5 or 6 times a day. Why do they think that you're more likely to have "found" a spare few thousand lying around betwen each call?

The main problem with the debt collection industry they have got away with far too much without being questioned. Now it's come back to haunt them because they won't/can't change their business model. As an example of old habits dying hard, look at the MP's who are still fiddling expenses and moaning because they can't survive on just their salary of £60k a year. I have to work for almost 4 years to earn that much. Also any expenses I claim have to be backed up with reciepts and it's instant dismissal if found to be fradulently claiming. So why do they think they are above the law? Like the DCA's the regulators need to regulate and make examples of a few, so the rest start to behave. The OFT needs to get off it's backside and start enforcing it's guidelines and the law, and those laws need to be tightened up.

Nice to see those mention on the other forum making their feelings felt.

The whole existence of toxic debts should be abolished, buying debts without supporting documentation, or where a dispute has already been raised should be outlawed and those that would harrass, threaten or abuse the system, or act outside of the lawful practices allowed (such as it is) they should be brought to book with the full powers allowable and prosecuted.

In the same way I would be prosecuted if I threatened, harrassed or commited fraud in the ways they do.

As for those on the other forums complaining about the activities of CAG and its ilk, well they wouldn't would they. They are now having to work harder to get anywhere close to the returns they used to get.

Maybe he's seen my youtube video of the spoof debt collectors video I made a while ago. Probably some DCA employee thinks "Fuzzybobble Debt Terrorists Ltd" is a genuine company, so copied it to pass the registration thing on the Crudit Today forum.

After the Hassle I've been giving Hillsden/DLC aka Chicken Farmers, recently it's probobly one of their drones. I did happen to mention a video about paying with christmas cards and would they like to feature in the next one. :D

The price of fame, FB :D

This guy, James Carpenter, has a profile page on wayn using Fuzzy Bobble there too.

I note from his WAYN profile (published by him, in the public domain), that he seems to think it's a dating site. I suspect that breath-holding will not be a wise policy.

He looks unremarkable. Probably a perfectly nice chap, when not being a keyboard warrior.
