  1. Hmmmm.....I suggest that if you are not getting the advice you are demanding from the kind people that give that advice free of charge in their own time then you contact a solicitor who will tell you the legal situation. Shouting at people on here will get you nowhere.
  2. Then you can safely ignore it and any further communication from them, their solicitors etc. etc. etc. It is not enforceable by law and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It is a speculative invoice which is designed to frighten you into paying a sum of money to which they have no claim whatsoever.
  3. Eventually you will probably get letters from "solicitors" .Ignore those too as they are usually from the same group of companies.
  4. If the PCN has been issued by a private company then it is best to ignore it from the beginning. Let them do the work and waste their money on postage etc. They can't enforce it anyway so why bother replying to them?
  5. The principal is the same no matter what time of the day. 6 spaces - 6 selfish drivers = no space for a genuine disabled driver. There are plenty of spaces for able bodied people to use, probably involving no more than a few more yards walk from the entrance. I will make no further comment on this issue.
  6. 1st best advice is to ignore the "ticket" 2nd best advice is not to be so selfish as to park in a disabled bay in the first place.
  7. And even if the private company took you to court for the charge they have to prove they have made a loss. As they normally don't own the land you have parked on they cannot make a loss. I hope that visitors to this site do not go away with incorrect information. The MSE web pages are full of useful information.
  8. fine: A sum of money exacted as a penalty by a court of law or other authority. A private parking company is not an "authority", it is a company. A company cannot impose a fine, it can impose a charge but not a fine.
  9. They are not FINES. A private company cannot FINE you. They are nothing more than invitations to pay, or as some people call them, speculative invoices. There is no legal obligation to pay them.
  10. Declare it. As the previous answer said, not declaring it would cost you the job anyway. Also I'm not sure if sacking you because of your past history would come under some discrimination or disability act. No doubt someone else will be more clued up than me.
  11. My understanding is that if they haven't finished writing the ticket and placed it on your vehicle then it is not valid and you cannot be chased for the penalty.
  12. Ignore it. There is absolutely nothing they can do about it. The next thing you will receive will be a "solicitors" letter. Ignore that too, it's the same people.
  13. How else do you think they are going to fleece their customers?...by playing fair? Hah.
  14. Presumably the car was inspected when a px offer was made and it would have been based on the condition of the car at that time. If you have subsequently damaged it then the dealer has every right to knock down the px offer. How would you feel if the dealer delivered your new car with some damage but refused to reduce the price to cover the cost of repairs?
  15. I'm glad the op is not in charge of my safety. He/she sounds unbalanced to me whatever the situation with his line manager.
  16. As others have said, ignore it. It is really just an invitation to pay. It is not enforceable in law and despite the threats of credit blacklisting etc. this cannot happen. The only people that can fine you are the police and councils. Private parking companies have no authority to fine anyone. All they can do is to ask if you would like to pay. For further peace of mind visit the motoring forum on the moneysavingexpert website. DO NOT PAY IT. DO NOT EVEN REPLY TO THEM.
  17. It doesn't matter if it's tax or something else.My point is that the average motorist probably doesn't realise exactly how much he is paying for fuel. £1.38 doesn't sound that much....£6.32 sounds a whole lot worse. Just think, when petrol goes up by one pence per litre that's really nearly five pence per gallon. A few years ago that sort of rise would have had Sun readers choking on their breakfasts. Now we don't give it a second thought.
  18. Hard pressed motorists would pay far more attention to fuel prices if they realised how much they were paying per GALLON. At the moment I am paying £1.38.9 per litre for diesel. That is £6.32 per GALLON. If this group were to highlight this more forcibly perhaps we might see a bit more action.

    Dental problems

Not sure what, if anything, I can do. My wife has had toothache for a couple of years and despite repeated visits to the dentist and to a maxiofacial clinic is still in pain. Her dentist said that she needed a new bridge to replace one that he said was causing the problem. He cut the existing bridge in half but then told her that she needed root canal treatment that he didn't feel qualified enough to do properly but that he knew a man who could do it privately(where have we heard that before?). When she said she couldn't afford that he then said that he couldn't replace the bridge he had cut in half as the existing tooth was not strong enough to take a new one. At present she lives on painkillers and is taken upwards of a dozen Ibuprofen tabs a day. In addition to this I had a tooth extracted last week but am still in pain. Because of the struggle the dentist had in pulling it out I am not convinced she has taken out all the tooth as firstly the cavity has not started to close at all and secondly I'm sure I can see and feel the outer shell of the tooth. It feels as if she has just drilled out the middle and left the shell: she did use the drill quite a bit as she didn't seem able to extract it in the usual way. Anyway, the point of this post is to ask if anyone knows where we could go to get an independent unbiased opinion as to whether we have received proper treatment. Some years ago when I needed a lot of treatment I had to attend some kind of assessment to see if the work was justified. This is what I think we both need now to see if we have been mistreated.
