In that last pdf link, the gov't said 'after a decade of extensive fracturing in the US there is no evidence to suggest that ongoing fracturing increases the likelihood of earthquakes'

Hi Ford.

Nothing like Fracking fluids to oil the Fault Lines.

I do not know yet exactly what happens during a Earthquake, learning all the time.

Is it possible that fissures open up and possibilities of fluids left in the ground could seep up.You would think so.If powerful enough.

Perhaps up to 60% of fluids left down there.

All those possibilities for the water table etc.There will be leaks.

Well over the last couple of days I was trying to post but struggling once again so much going on.

Twice I have written and twice I have abandoned it.So best I feel just to go for it then put a few links down.

 

It is said when you go to war it is best to choose your Battlefield well.

This field in Lancashire is now the field where battle lines have been drawn.

The Fracking battle, the lobby groups, the connections, the Government the PR companies.

On one side the power, the money, the greed, the connections the people who do not care about the environment, will risk anything for the bottom line, money, profit from the earth.To perhaps help pay back debt that the public has not caused.

 

I have said we have seen this kind of thing before a couple of posts back.

Hold on a minute, have we. I meant companies coming in destroying our economies such as the Sub Primers people like that.

Money.

But this is different it is not money it is possibly our air, water our countryside, our oceans, rivers,streams they could destroy.Our small island where we live so close together.

Earthquakes, can you believe they are getting away with creating Earthquakes.They should be locked up.

A fracking nightmare as you look around the world and see what is happening.

 

On the other side what do we have. People and communites saying we do not want this.

It is not safe the proof is out there to see.

If it was safe there would not be such an outcry.

Now you ask yourself what have they got to gain from this, giving up their time, money, days off, lunch breaks home life, family life.

Well, they have got their environment which is pretty bad already but could be improved.Renewables are gaining popularity and creating more jobs than filthy Fracking could dream of. Look around the world check for yourself.Do not take my word for it.

I have talked a little about solar but apart from a couple of panels on my roof not really taken much notice of.

My house is pretty modern,the bulbs cost about 8 pounds each.

You feel pretty down when they break. Somebody gave me a couple of solar lights this week, upcycled if you like.

Put them by your window in the hall. It is winter I said. Just do it. Ok I will.

I have not used a light since in the hall.

I asked myself well yes but who gains who loses if I use these all over my house.

Free lighting from the sun in winter.I feel there is no need to answer that question.

 

Enough of renewables I will move on.

What has happened this week. Well once again I have seen strange things happening.

Despite legal challenges Cuadrilla just carry on desperately trying to kick start Fracking.

More and more people across the country with nothing to gain protesting in their own way with no monetary gain to be had.

Trucks delivering sometimes with black tape over their registrations and where they are from.

Can you believe it it is so easy to find out where they are from.

Breaking traffic management plans, parking on bridges not where they are supposed to wait.

 

There was a lock on at the site On Thursday.6 Protectors tubed themselves across the entrance stopping the site operating to its full potential.

The next day the Water Protector camp receive an eviction notice.

Sometimes you wonder where this pressure is coming from.

People have footage of all these things I have talked about, if you want to see footage just ask away.

I will probably put some on next week.

 

So where are we now, I do not know, all I see is every action creates a reaction where this is going to end

From what I gather, The Labour party do not want Fracking, The Green Party do not want Fracking along with Lib Dems.Most of Britain do not want Fracking yet here we are.

Theresa May said We listened to the people re Brexit yet they do not listen to the people when Fracking is mentioned.I do not get it very strange.

 

One more thing , someone on valentines day put daffodils on the security fence saying Thanks very much.

They ripped them off and threw them on the floor, trampling on them.

This upset a person so much they wrote a song.

Hi Ford.Well I was going to put a couple of videos on earlier and preparing a post I will put the videos on later.

Always enjoy it when someone posts.

I was not arrested.Usually I am following things on the computer, connecting live links.

I am still pretty fit but my heart is not what it was.Few blocked arteries etc.

If it comes to a bit of shoving pushing, filming being close up to things does not bother me so long as I can move about.

Or if it came or comes to a time when a little more effort is needed well who knows.

But when these protectors are tubed together you cannot just pop a switch and walk away.

You are on the ground till the end game.Even the professional protestor removal team take hours to unlock them using grinders and god knows what.

Bearing this in mind and my condition although looking at me you would perhaps not know I have a weakness

I decided I could not do this kind of protecting.Unfortunately.

Seeing people being moved once a few yards by amateurs created outrage as can quite easily break bones or worse when in this situation.

This week will bring more surprises,I have no doubt of that.

58 Tremors,Earthquakes in the Lancashire area in 2011 Before Cuadrilla were stopped.

Fracking caused 58 earthquakes in 2011, 2 of which were felt at the surface.In the Blackpool area. Cuadrilla initially, wouldn't admit that their fracking had caused the earthquakes. They hid the fact that the first felt earthquake - 2.3 on the Richter scale, which happened around 2.30am and which even Blackpool police felt ("the station shuddered" and then the phone started ringing") The Earthquake caused the wellbore to

to deform in the perforation zone where the fracking fluid is injected into the shale. Despite the deformed well, Cuadrilla continued fracking until the second felt earthquake caused the government to shut them down.

As TJ has pointed out, there are many other ways to generate electricity. Tidal generators had problems in the beginning due to wear on the blades requiring replacement. Water friction is a killer. This is no longer a major issue due to different manufacturing methods.

 

There is also Marine Current Turbines. These have blades that lie horizontal rather than vertical and use the tides to generate power. The beauty of these projects is that the turbine blades rotate to allow power to be generated by both incoming and outgoing tides rather than the original versions that only generated power on incoming tides.

 

In the US, they also have river placed turbines that rely on tidal flow to work. These are very small (in comparison) and are easily moved for maintenance.

 

This has to be the way to go rather than destroying more of our home.

 

A well done has to go to the protestors at the fracking site. I did some reading over the weekend about the problems in the US and while there aren't that many, the ones that had 'accidents' caused major problems.

My biggest concern with fracking is the casing. What safeguards would be put in place to ensure the casing doesn't allow ingress of chemicals into the ground water? What I have read does not fill me with confidence so my earlier comments about trying it out to see what happens should now say, Don't do it. Too many risks. Not enough answers.

A Friends of the Earth investigation has revealed that fracking company Cuadrilla are planning to start drilling in Lancashire in the next few weeks before completing the 12 months of groundwater monitoring required by law.

 

The Environment Agency have confirmed to Friends of the Earth that Cuadrilla started water monitoring in July 2016 but Cuadrilla’s plans show they want to start drilling next month, 4 months short of the 12 months’ groundwater monitoring required by law.
