the seller said that there is nothing wrong with the car, supporting documents were provided to show up to date maintenance work, this is not true and iknow for sure, if something is wrong it is, and I can follow my guts n carry on

And there's nothing wrong with me either, in fact I am well and fit.

This is a true statement given my age.

However the decades I've been around have given me some wear and tear: a knee that clicks and sometimes hurts (rugby injury), lower back sometimes painful (rowing days), short sighted (just age), one knuckle painful when making a fist (pub brawl as a teenager) and reciding hairline (damn genes!).

Is my first statement incorrect?

NO!

I am well and fit considering the age.

If someone wanted to buy me I would not disclose the little wear and tear but I would let them "inspect" me and find out for themselves, something you have not bothered doing with your car.

Salmonella must live in the different world.

As regards the spare wheel it's an often reported issue where the mechanics don't understand what they are reporting. Often spares are a different size wheel and tyre size but the thing that matters, the rolling radius, will be the same.

Exactly what 4X4 is it by the way.

Yes it would be £1000 if you fixed it all.

But why bother?

All of this stuff is wear and tear and very minor.

All I would do is the prop shaft bearings, the k seal to top the heater matrix leak and the expansion tank IF the cracking got any worse.

As stated, you seem to think you know best, so there's really no point in coming on here for advice (as you obviously don't like the answers everyone is giving you) or discussing it further, go ahead with the court case or whatever you want to do.

Why bother ? I like to keep my car clean, I like to maintain it and make sure it's all ok, is there anything wrong with this ? wear and tear ? wear n tear...well they need to be fixed, and if you sell me something that you know there is something wrong with and you hide it, then surely it's wrong, but you folks it's all ok with you, broken, mended, torn apart, it's all fine wit you guys, something is wrong here

its tough running a car these days that's for sure.

it can be, but let me tell you this, I bought a car last year knowing that it had a problem, I got a good deal and I fixed it, I am happy this way, but to trick me and pretend it's all ok when it's not, surely someone must stop this

I wish I could swallow your ideas and think it's all ok when it's not, I hope you guys you're not on something when in this forum...rasta ? hippy ?

given your age then you need to go to the dr more often and get a check up, if you need hip replacement then that's it, or a transplant, otherwise you wont make it, depending on how serious it can be, but surely if you need glasses then you have to wear them and inform the DVLA, you can't do without, you can't just say that to the DVLA can you ? your statement is true but you cannot pretend that there is nothing wrong with you when in fact you are not getting fit anymore and you can't do certain things that people would expect you to do, I suggest you go the gym and make sure you tell them your health problem and don't expect them to know what you have just told us.

If you want to be sold and someone inspects you, unless he's a doctor, then there is no way in finding out about you health problem by just checking your wide mouth open and teeth.

People wake up, we need faith ! which suggest that you don't believe in

that wil be my next step, actually first I will write to the seller, if they pay, then no need to take it further, otherwise I will seek legal advise and contact trading standard, evn if I don't get something, I wont let this person do it to others, so by putting the seller on the spot it will hopefully get a result somehow

Have you tried asking trading standards or CAB for advice to see if they'll tell you something different?

I would think that we all like to have a well maintained car, but that is different from replacing somthing that shows some signs of wear BUT is still working as it is designed to and somthing that is broken. You can not fix somthing that is not broken; you can only replace or renovate. Surface rust is exactly what is says, rust on the surface of the metal and not rusted through, often this can be cleaned up with a little general oil and a brilo pad - I would advise you never step foot on an aeroplane as they have load's on them. Odd how they still manage to fly.......

But i admire your conviction to having a nice perfect car, i assume that you replace the tyres on a weekly basis as they are worn rather than wait till they are on the limits?

Well best of luck in finding a solictor with the same cock eyed view of contract law as you (though read his contrat VERY carefully)

It is easier to enter a rich man than for a camel to pass a needle

We have here a piece of paper from a mechanic n I am not replacing anything doesn't need to, I am not making up things and I am not here to go under the car to do the washing up am I ?

I think you need to improve your contribution to this forum, if you have something good to say by all means, but don't just sit in front of that pc and make ridiculous comments, it adds embarrassment your profile.

Why not ask for a full tank of fuel and years road fund license an throw in free insurance as well for good measure.

I'm done in this thread.

I would if I were on DLA ... anyway your basic account shows how sterile your contribution can be, anyway as if we're going to notice when you're done

Anyone here would expect some assistance if needed, clarification if not sure, constructive ideas to shed light on my case for instance that hopefully will help other fellows with similar cases.

People need to understand that not everyone is the same and we have to work all together, to give a proper guidance based on convincing arguments interpreted by the law.

You don't want advice you want sympathy !!

The level of my account is irrelevant. I'd you look you will see I've been a member for a very long time. Unlike yourself.

If your going to continue to throw ur toys out you will get very little help !!

Good luck in your quest. I suspect Captain Kirk might come in useful.

You have NO convincing argument ! Within law.

It's quite frequent for dealers to do a "health check" when completing a service. I wouldn't say any results from these need to be included in the service history - often it's a way to generate more work. If the car was sold privately, and has a full service history (i.e. documentation of when it has been serviced), I don't see that there's any recourse here.

By all means, pursue through the courts, but I can't see a judge siding with you.

It would appear to me that you are not happy with the advice given by other caggers. This happens and CAG makes it quite clear that any advice given does need to be checked. However, I feel this thread has now gone full circle - advice given - advice rejected.

It might well be in your interest to now seek advice from Trading Standards as you have implied that is your next step :) We would appreciate it if you could update your thread with any advice that you might be given contrary to that already provided.

Please do be aware that any complaints that need to be made regarding any product will need to be dealt with in a timely manner. So time spent on CAG criticising the advice you have been given might be time that you need to get your complaint off the ground.

So are you saying because it's a private sale I have no leg to stand ?

Serv history has no meaning whatsoever with the work that ought to be done, so the seller is not liable to complete the work ?

so what's my argument when the seller stated that the car has a dealer service history when it's not and it was from a specialist garage, also when the whole spare wheel is no the same ? opposed what some say tear n wear. finally a real problem is developing now ( it must be fixed ) because of one of the advisory notices were not fixed already, so how do we stand in all this.
