My husband phoned tenant loans, as we wanted to borrow £1500 to pay our overdraft off, and close our account with barclays.

They said it was no problem as long as we paid a fee of £50. I then went on the phone and asked if we get the money back if we werent happy with the quotes they came back with, or if there were any problems. I also said we wouln't be able to get a guarator as our family are all in the same vote. She said they would be able to find a company to pay out who don't need a guarantor. So because she had guaranteed this on a recorded phone call i paid the money.

As it turnes out they did need a guarantor, so my husband phoned asking for our money back. They said we would have to wait 6months. also we had to write a letter in giving them permission to listen back to the phone call.

How can i enforce getting my money back.

You send them a letter giving them 14 days to return your money, or you'll take them to court, advising that they have no right to hold on to your cash for 6 months. If they don't comply, you send them a Letter Before Action giving them a further 14 days. After that, you take them to court and you add interest of 8% and your court fee to your claim.

6 months, my backside.

Sorry BW but they can. However they are only entitled to keep £5.00.

See here Credit Brokers - Fees

The advice I give in relation to benefits should be viewed as general advice and not specific to your individual claim circumstances. I cannot give specific advice on your claim as I cannot access the claim.

Sorry too, but:

You can charge your customers a fee for your services as a credit broker. However, if the customer does not enter into an agreement for the credit or hire within six months of your introduction

  • you cannot ask for more than £5 (it does not matter why the customer does not go ahead with the agreement, even if it is just a change of mind)
  • the customer is entitled to ask for a refund of the excess if he has already paid more than £5, and can sue if you refuse

which doesn't say that they can keep the money for 6 months, and:

  • You should not keep your customer's money for the full six months if there is no prospect that an agreement will result

I stand by my advice.

Hello I know this may be off topic, but please avoid these other brokers too who charge advance fees; 48Hour loans, YES loans, Wentworth Finance. Characteristically, they all promise the earth and make it look so easy, when they know darn well that your haven't go an ants chance. All they want at the end of the day is your upfront fee, that is all they exist for! You have been warned!

Good response, postggj, because I have been stung by this lot too. They and all the other brokers are [problematic]. Also these are the only ones you will find in the classifieds in metro and other newspapers. Leave them alone. Hopefully if enough people are aware of these [problematic] they will go away.

hello,

my partner recently applied for a loan from yes loans and got told on the phone he had been accepted and once he had paid the set up fee of £59.50 they could process the loan which he understood as he would get it so he paid up and they sent out the paperwork, now as he works away from home i opened this agreement and have read the back and was very annoyed to find out this is not an agreement for a loan but for them to agree to look for a loan for him ( i could have done that and he could have given me the money he he). but seriously anybody know if he can get the money back as he has not signed the agreement and was deffinently mislead on the phone.

look forward to hearing from you

All of these people should be reported to the OFT under the new http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/faqs-please-read-these/146460-consumer-protection-unfair-trading.html

It only takes a simple letter of complaint. no fee and no risk.

Additionally, if you have parted with money on a [problem] then you should send a 7 day LBA and then sue. Don't hang around - just do it.

You should also consider writing to the police and make a crime allegation.

Hello, I am afraid I am one of those whohas just given my card details to Tenant Loans for a loan for £3000 to £4000. Unfortunately they have said that they are now going to debit my card for £49.95 plus a 50p fee for a children's charity! But the alarm bells should have been ringing, when they said they could find a lender to advance that amount and yet, I was declined by JST Finance for a payday loan of £200 who put me on to this "broker".

I clearly asked them will they would get me a loan that does *not* involve a guarantor, as I have no-one to ask, and they said they would always send a "non-guarantor" option as well as a guarantor one, but due to another post on this forum (which obviously I sympathise with) it looks as though they only send the guarantor one. I have had a number of "offers" for a loan from FLM, which would need a guarantor, but have just ignored these. Might try to reverse the transaction with the bank as I only phoned Tenant Loans half an hour ago.

These dreadful so-called brokers want sorting out, we must all remember that they don't just rip people off at £50 a time who, by nature of applying for this kind of credit, can't afford to lose that amount. They are also guilty of building up peoples hopes who may be in very desperate situations and wasting their valuable time when they could be finding solutions to their problems elsewhere

PostGGJ from the 10th June: also think yours is a good post. When you say you hadn't applied to Advantage Loans, what I think would have happened is that you may have applied for credit elsewhere, got declined and then that broker referred your details to this so-called broker.

Fleeced73, many thanks for your reply. I know it's a bit naughty, as another poster has said on this thread, but I have attempted to cancel it with my bank saying that it's fraudulent and most likely a [problem]. They have at least put the transaction 'into dispute'. The bank have also suggested cancelling my card, though, and I have to wait for a new debit card. It's just that I cannot afford to lose that money even for one month, let alone 6 months!

Hi All,

If fairness to Anthony, you have to give him some credit for comming on here to state that he will look at individual cases and see what he can do. Although I wouldnt need there services, some people do, and abviously they do arrange loans for the some. I have to say that Anthony, whilst you have alot to offer, I feel that based on the general opinion that you have some questions to answer.

I think this might be a place to ask Anthony questions and get answers on his services. The other thing to note is that whatever is discussed here will be picked up by the search engines and as such if someone searches for tenant loans and other such keywords will find this thread so will draw attention to it, so Anthony please answer the questions that are required here.

Derek

FLM, Tenant Loans, Yes Loans, they are all owned by THE SAME COMPANY KNOWN AS The Richmond Group

AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS - NO MATTER HOW DESPERATE YOU ARE
