We don’t normally have advertising on this site. However, I am trying to sell my step-ladder - let me know if you are interested. It is a deluxe one because I, personally, would never settle for anything less.

I am not sentimental about throwing it out, since it is only my step-ladder. I never knew my real ladder; he abandoned us when we were small and I was raised by in the forest by a family of foxes. One day I'll tell you of how we were found by a farmer, of our slow return to civilisation, and the adventures we had along the way. It is a beautiful story; stranger than any fiction.

But do you want this ladder or not?

Excuse me, I think if you re-read the first post, this is a deluxe step-ladder. I think throwing in half a dozen oatcakes is more than generous.

As it's not your real ladder, I assume it's a second-hand ladder. Can you tell me more about its background?

I'd be quite interested in having my own ladder. But, after thinking about it for 5 seconds, I'm wondering if I really need one of my own, or if I should just look at renting one. I am dubious of mentioning Wittgenstein in this context, but I feel I should. After all, as he says, ladders are just there to be thrown away.

On this note, I have a perfectly good fly bottle I no longer need. Would you like to exchange it for your ladder?

As I said, my real ladder abandoned us when we were small, so I don't really know any previous history - this is the only ladder I can remember.

What colour fly bottle?

I'm almost embarrassed to tell you. My fly bottle is just made of plain glass. It's just an ordinary fly bottle. However, it does come with its original packaging (circa 1953). I'm quite attached to it, but admit it is of esoteric interest. And the time has come, as the walrus so wisely said, to get rid of childish things (or was that St Paul? - always getting those two confused).

I'd be willing to include an ice skate in order to seal the deal. I really do want to find a good home for my fly bottle.

Hippy-chick, I don't think you should feel embarrased about your fly bottle only being made of plain glass. Fly bottles come in all shapes sizes and colours nowadays. I think you may be surprised to find that the fly bottle you see as just 'plain' someone else will think is incredibly beautiful. The important thing is not to feel embarrassed but to see your fly bottle as the beautiful vibrant vessel it undoubtedly is.
