  1. I don't know about ESA, only tax credits. Sorry.
  2. If you struggle with the letters then honestly I think the easiest thing for you to do is to call DWP and ask if you are on income based or contribution based ESA. Then call tax credits and check that they have the correct one. (Your tax credit awards notice should also show this). If you are on income based, all they need is the dates it started, they don't need amounts. If you are on contributions based, they need a rough estimate of how much you expect to get for ESA from April 2014 to April 2015. Again if calling DWP they should be able to help with that. Do you have any friends or family that could help you with this?
  3. I'm sorry but I don't see how I have made you feel thick. All you asked on this thread was if you need to tell them you've changed from work to support group. You havent mentioned anything else about your life. I answered your question by saying thay they don't need to know which group you are in. They only need to know if you are on income based or contributions based ESA. I don't deal with ESA so I can't tell you which one you would be on. I can only give help from the tax credit side. When you claimed tax credits the forms would have asked whether you were on income based or contributions based ESA so I assumed you would know which one that's why I mentioned it. I also said if you weren't sure then your letters from them might tell you or you could ask them. If your not happy with what I have said then you can call tax credits and they can help you.
  4. The PAYE Reference number will be on any P60 and may also be on the payslip. The employer doesn't give contact details for HMRC, there is one taxes helpline for all taxpayers. https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs/contact/income-tax-enquiries-for-individuals-pensioners-and-employees Employers have their own taxes helpline.
  5. I wasn't telling you not to post here. You were asking if tax credits needs to know that you've changed from work group to support group, I was telling you that they don't need to know which group as it isn't relevant to your tax credit claim.
  6. It usually on your letters from DWP. Or you can call them and ask. The group isn't relevant to tax credits.
  7. Can you provide any links to guidance that confirms interest should be paid to the taxpayer? HMRC use a rate of 3% if the employer underpays so why only 0.5% for an overpayment? There is also not an employers own PAYE office, it's a national system.
  8. Tax credits need to know if income based or contributions based, not which group.
  9. Unlikely but there is no way we could say for sure. It more likely that you'll be overpaid and will have your award reduced or stopped to recover it.
  10. If they have withdrawn then you have won so no need to still have an hearing and waste time and money
  11. I wouldn't personally write to them as they either don't receive it/reply or take weeks to which will just increase your overpayment. Call today with the date of change and it will be updated. You will be overpaid but that's most likely as far as it will go if you make repayments. Once the overpayment has been calculated you will be sent a notice to pay letter, from there you can set up a repayment plan.
  12. You could try contacting the dept here? https://www.gov.uk/reduced-earnings-allowance/overview
  13. If it's only been 2 weeks they might not have even looked yet.
  14. You want to ask tax credits to consider notional entitlement - http://www.turn2us.org.uk/about_us/e-bulletin/july_2012/offsetting_tax_credit_overpaym.aspx
  15. If you're doing self-employed work you'll be able to keep claiming Working Tax Credit for the first 28 weeks you're off work, as long as: - you were only doing self-employed work in the week immediately before your illness began - your usual working hours are at least 16, 24 or 30 (depending on your circumstances) - you worked these hours immediately before going off work - you receive one of the specific sickness or disability benefits above - or would have, but you don’t qualify because you're self-employed The specific sickness or disability benefits are: - Statutory Sick Pay - Employment and Support Allowance - National Insurance credits awarded because of incapacity for work, or limited capability for work (how your illness or disability affects the amount and type of work you can do)
  16. from tax credit guidance - If you’re still getting tax credits payments we’ll automatically reduce these payments to recover an overpayment from your ongoing tax credits. Overpayments we will recover may be from: • awards you or your partner have had as single people • awards you and your partner have had together either now or previously We will not recover from your ongoing tax credits any overpayments from awards you or your partner have had with other partners.
  17. The whole of HMRC doesn't come to a stand still just because of the SA deadline.
  18. Yes but only £1000, not all the unused allowance. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/marriage-transferable-tax-allowance-announced-by-government
  19. Sadly that's not how tax credits work. The income for the full tax year is taken into account.
  20. Couldn't you use the DLA money for clothes?
  21. Being backdated and being paid as a lump sum are two different things. It should have been backdated if you called within one month but that doesn't mean it is paid as a lump sum. As long as you receive the correct entitlement for the year, then you cannot ask for it to be paid specifically as a lump sum. Payments are generated by the system. The only control you or they have is whether it's weekly or 4 weekly. Sorry that it's not the answer you want to hear.
  22. The standard tax code for 2013/14 was 944L (this tax year is 1000L). When you changed job in Feb 2014, did you give the new employer your P45? Yes income details would be needed if you want us to calculate it for you. Unfortunately there is no way of knowing if it is correct or not otherwise.
  23. What income (if any) did you have from April 2013 to July 2013? Do you know your total pay and tax details for the last tax year including the tax code used by your employer?
  24. The only thing they ask for about last year is income. You employer, hours etc are as they are now. Tax credits is initially based on your previous years income unless the current year income increases by £5000 or decreases by £2500. If you could post income details then it would be easier to explain.
