  1. No, No,No. Tracking will not cause a car to pull either way. You can have a car which does not pull, set the tracking to very extremes and it still will not pull or drift. Invariably it's tyre concentricity, caster/camber angles and the biggest culprit on modern day vehicles rear end misalignment and subframe position. Pull drift on a vehicle is determined by the rear end cross toe angle and wheel base alignment which determines the thrust angle of the car. Front toe has zero effect.
  2. When saying vehicle tax are you referring to Road Fund Licence or tax on cars?
  3. Disagree Conniff, they have the right to repair if indeed it is a fault. Often the owners handbook does not tie up with the car as it's generic, some models will, others won't hence the generic handbook. Hardly worth going to court about and a £7000 Audi wouldn't necessarily be considered big money when compared to the original OEM OTR cost.
  4. I seem to remember this was a known issue on this model and was subject to an official Vauxhall Service campaign. Worth checking out!!!
  5. AMRAF?????Now that rings a bell with me !!! Wickford by any chance?
  6. What sort of VW service history do you have, full dealer and on time, partial dealer etc etc.
  7. Clean the wheel arches !! VW will see this and use as root cause therefore denying liability.
  8. Two things wrong here. Evidence of poor maintenance of the bodywork and potential evidence of previous repair/accident damage (cable tie holding bumper cover on).On face value, if you presented this as it is to a VW engineer or assessor it would be rejected for those reasons. Main contacts at VW in Germany and UK along with e mail addresses can usually be found in the VW annual report (last one published last week I think).
  9. Some merc gearboxes did have issues with the gearbox selector control module but I seem to remember Mercedes were paying for it so I'd check that out. Take the VIN number toa Mercedes dealer and see if there are any outstanding service campaigns on it. The diesel pump(s) need replacing. They have two, a High pressure one and a lift pump and I doubt they need changing. Its more likely to be the injectors which is now a serviceable item like filters at 100,000 km's (not miles) so possible. However as they are serviceable items you could have a battle on your hands.
  10. I have an issue with plod here. Was it a traffic cop or just an ordinary patrol car. One of my beefs about the routine police patrols is that they seem to think they are qualified to determine what is driving without due care and attention, or other offences, or whether or not a vehicle is road worthy or not. I'd feel more comfortable with a traffic officer making the decision but some of the police driving I've seen is positively atrocious.
  11. See it all the time guys. Some of the supposed Master Technicians I come across are a joke, and I have to say some of the older ones who should know better are the same. The problem is that over the years cars have got ever complex and the technicians/mechanics who are capable of sussing out root cause and understanding it have left to join such areas as heavy plant or even lift repairs as the money is so poor in the retail side yet they work alongside sales ********s who earn three or more times they do and they then have to clear up the pooh left by the sales department who make false promises to customers. The trade is a shambles where the good guys are fighting a constant battle to counter the **** of the industry. Licensing would be a good way of cleaning the aftermarket industry up but heaven forbid it get's given to VOSA to regulate.
  12. The only ones worth the money are when you buy from a franchised dealer and have it repaired by a franchised dealer and even then you are liable for some of the cost of the repair such as fluids used.
  13. You could try but I wouldn't hold out for much help with a dual controlled car. Further they are under no obligation to provide one even if it didn't have dual controls though good customer service dictates making a single controlled car available. I'd also read the terms of your warranty in great detail as many manufacturers won't cover cars used for driving schools for more than the obligatory year so don't get caught out there either.
  14. You must give a list of issues with the car prior to re mapping that you found after you had taken delivery of the car along with what car it is and mileage when bought.
  15. Actually no Addyv. Conniff has just tried to clarify the situation as he sees it based on what you have said. Others take a different view. It is true in certain respects that the re-map will not affect other aspects of the cars operation but there are certain details you have posted which possibly could irrespective of the fact you have some sort of evidence from the manufactuer that it won't. My position dictates the authority to issue such said letters on behalf of a manufacturer and believe me I would not under any circumstances issue one unless I knew without doubt what the issue was which you are not declaring here. And even then it would be crystal clear as to which bits were being referred to. I think you might well have a good case but objective advice is impossible without the full details. Something smells here and I think it could be the way the original papers were filed in that you might have gone after the engine issues when in reality you might have perhaps been better placed to go for the overall condition. If you are rejecting as I think you might be on the basis of engine problems then frankly not a hope in hell of winning unless you can categorically prove that the re map had no effect. Just read the owners manual...all stated there usually.
  16. Half a minute is 30 seconds which is a long time waiting for the barrier to move up. Does your daughter remember seeing a green light? Plus I have a feeling some of these barriers have proximity sensors for Toll Tags. I don't get this and am beginning to think the employee might be equally to blame here.
  17. OK and that's not a problem. But can you detail the faults with the car and what led you to get it re-mapped as that seems to be the crux of the defence. I's important you detail what car and how old.
  18. Go on Hammy you know it makes sense!! I don't think the case is at all clear by any means...well certainly not on here and in order for any guidance that could be given you need to go back and state the basics of your case. It appears you are asking for some advice based on a mish mash of info and if that is what is on here then in all likelihood so is the case before a Judge and that is not on. What appears to be happening is that you have rejected a car after 6 weeks and having interfered with it the defence is using this as their argument. I don't think you have gone about this in the correct way at all however you are not to know. So again I ask what are the basics of your case and the circumstances along with a little bit more detail and to add your case cannot be that strong as it will have been dealt with in the first hearing so obviously there is something there which is causing the Judge to re-schedule.
  19. Lol...along with Petrol and Diesel. Seriously, if you know what you are doing and how to use the systems available it's still not advanced quantum physics is it? Simple checks such as spark discharge patterns, cylinder pressure checks, fuel pressure checks along with basic measurements and an understanding of what the results mean is all that is needed and you don't need high tech equipment to do it. Quite pathetic really but perhaps a sad reflection on how the traditional apprentice system was systematically destroyed.
  20. Not sure I understand what is going on here so lets go back to basics with what car, how old, what was the original fault, what subsequent faults and what and why you re-mapped and what re-map you had. A time line of events would be useful as well as the OP post is very confusing. I can categorically state though that in my experience no manufacturer will allow a re-map without invalidating the original warranty. You might have some communication stating that in their opinion the re-map has no effect but from an engineering perspective it could. I'm very surprised you have something stating that they would continue the warranty with the re-map. Personally I'm not surprised that you seem to be given the run around as your post and details are very unclear and it would appear the defending barrister realises this. Court judges are not daft so something has to be there that you are doing as well that leads the defence to be acting like you suggest.
  21. Lol, given the amount of rubbish written on here one might as well be.
  22. So it doesn't sound like the stop start system even if it had one fitted. When you pick it up make sure you ask for a print out of the historic codes and the current codes registered and let us know what they are.
  23. That's the first thing that jumped into my mind EB. I regularly use the M6 toll road and as soon as the payment clears the barrier opens. In fact it opens before you get your card back. I'd be asking for the CCTV footage as they are all recorded. Personally I'd be asking to see the evidence that she did do something wrong. I wouldn't be rolling over straight away.
  24. Rubbish, total rubbish......and believe me I am an expert in these things!!
