A range of Simple Interest spreadsheets are available here (NB. these are not recommended for contractual interest claims):

For those needing compound interest spreadies, Excel versions of Vamp's Recommended #5 and #16 spreadies, and others, are available here:

EDIT: I REGRET THESE HAVE BEEN WITHDRAWN DUE TO LACK OF CAG SUPPORT

Itsme, copy & paste just the first few lines, and say which sheet you are using, and what interest rate. It should come out like this, but that should be enough for someone to check for you.

Charge DateCharge ReasonPenalty chargedCumulative penalties chargedInterest on penaltiesInterest dateInterest chargedEstimated average overdrawn balance during period of interestInterest free overdraftBank interest on penaltiesInt. on bank int on penaltiesEstimate of previous charges:03/08/2001OVERLIMIT8.008.0036.4515/08/015.00200.00100.000.401.8002/04/2002LATE PMT8.0016.0028.1915/04/028.00200.00100.001.284.45

Dear Bill,

I am using the one from CAG..dual one...

But in my statements i have 3 colums: Credit(where monthly agreed payment goes out from my account- £193.35) Than Debit it says Intrest Posting...first month 30/06/04 £163... Balance colum where( balance borrowed +PPI+Intrest on loan+Intrest on PPI+Healthcare....all added up minus monthly payment(193.35) plus Intrest posting.....

from month 2 till last month of payment the difference between intrest posting was £2-£4 ..butt the difference between 1st month of interest posting and "nd month was about £40

It looks very easy on statement..but complicated to count how much i have actualy paid for PPi and Healthcare and 3% intrest on it.

I can email you the statements(only 2 pages) ....i have them in exel...I have used so many spreadsheets....and feel that something is wrong....

But as i said the advises i have from you and chezt is more than i have received from PPI forum...actualy i have received nothing from there....:?

Regards,

Maria

Maria, I suspect that what was entered as interest in your first statement, may have included initial one-off set-up fees as well.

I'll PM you.

Thank you so much for trying:))))

For Bill - or anyone who knows the answer! - Everyone has been helping me out with spreads when I got in a mess, and yesterday I thought I'd cracked it - well, I had sort of! I've revisited ths morning, with a slightly clearer head, and I noticed that I AM as dumb as I first thought. Where it says "balance of account" I made it positive instead of negative - I've rectified that now, and that page has amended itself, but the other page (INTEREST OWED DUE TO CHARGES) has only changed by 7p. Does that sound right?

I am thinking of getting myself sectioned under the Mental Health & Spreadsheets Act.

Or should I just give up and go back to my knitting?

Sallysas, I'm glad you're sorted, now.

Maria, thank you. I am sorry that I have been unable to help you.

I have to tell you that there is currently a dispute over the quality of my advice and opinion. Until such time that it is adequately resolved, I do not feel able to safely offer any assistance. I am so sorry.

Bill.

Is it essential to use this template to calculate the interest? Iam finding it so complicated to use.

I have the interest charged figures on my statement. Can i just entered those and add it to a basic speedsheet?

Which 'template' are you using?

links to my current claims ...

My claim - Yorkshire Bank Visa

chezt V RBS Mastercard

Chezt v RBS Joint Account

chezt v Abbey Credit Card

Settled ...

chezt V Duet Card/Creation Finance

chezt v's Studio Cards

chezt v's Littlewoods Catalogue

Next ...

Abbey Joint a/c & Single a/c

Barclaycard (Mine & Hubby's)

Anyone else I can think of ...!

Whoa - looks like everything's blown up since last I was on here? How dare people say Bill gives poor quality advice? Nonsense - very patient and clear instructions I say.

Admittedly there are too many different spreadsheets around and a lot of conflicting information but this is free site run by volunteers...

Chezt, one question to you: should i add 8% after adding up court fees to the claim, or before i add the court fees?

Exsample:

(Ammount of claim: 32016.17+Fees: 45.32+Court fees: 120)*8%

Or

Ammount of (claim+ fees)*8%+ court fees?
