This bunch [removed] have been taking £18.50 a month from my Octogenarian relatives for a number of years

and carrying out services to the boiler.

No one else has touched the boiler,

this time round (last week) an Engineer decided to cut the supply off as there was a wing nut missing on the case

and a seal was broken (which they must have done)

My relatives have now been without heating and hot water for 5 days and

despite numerous calls to their non helpful customer help line, no one has turned up.

They are totally unhelpful,

do not call back within the timescales they set and

have no concerns for the safety of their elderly customers.

All in all, this company are the very worst I have ever dealt with (and I've been in the building industry for 40 years)

I know a thing or two about dreadful companies and bad service

- Beware - do not expect any help at any time from this lot of rubbish.

Hi the_gooner

Welcome to CAGlink31.gif

Write a Formal Letter of Complaint mark it as such. Explain what's happened, how they have let you down and what you want them to do.

Send it to :-

Christopher McLain

Head of Home Energy Services

Home Energy Services

HES isn't part of EON, although it sounds like they still want you to think they are.

You could also consider contacting Trading Standards through CAB.

As they are giving the impression they are working under the EON flag, then you could also email the CEO of EON - [email protected] and voice your displeasure and tell him they are bringing the EON name into disrepute.

If you have the email address of the servicing company, then give them 24 hours to attend and repair or you will call in another engineer and send the bill to them for reimbursement.

Hi the_gooner and welcome to the Forums.

I'm sorry your elderly relatives have been without heating for such a long time.

As rebel11 says, Home Energy Services (HES) are an independent company and no longer have any connection to us. We sold our Central Heating business to them in April 2013 and they've taken over all our old central heating contracts. They've their own separate complaints procedure as rebel11 outlines. I'd follow rebel's advice.

You can email them at [email protected] or phone 0345 872 8636 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday. They've also their own website as below.

http://www.homeenergyservices.co.uk/

Hope this helps point you in the right direction and you're able to sort something out.

Malc

It got better,

they finally turned up after 5 days and announced that the boiler was beyond repair,

and that they could do nothing, and my father in law was not covered for replacement.

The operative offered to get his mate round to replace the boiler for £1500.

I have had to employ a reputable company to replace the boiler.

It appears that the £18.50 a month they were conned into covered nothing, except a yearly service.

A yearly boiler service should cost around £50 - £60.

In my original post, I called them thieves, and I stand by that.

I will be writing a letter of complaint and thought I would copy in Age Concern

because these clowns obviously have no regard for vulnerable people.

I'd like to hear your ideas on who else I should copy in.

Many thanks for your replies.

as with all paid for warranties and service contract

they are a waste of money and always have been.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Yes, i totally agree, unfortunately this company is quite happy to sell these contracts to elderly people who are worried about being without heating in the winter.
