  1. Thank you for your help, I only went down the avenue I did, after seeing a very old thread on here regarding registration with the FCA and ICO.
  2. Thank you for clarification, the water company was not a debt, we needed to close the account and provide evidence of leaving the property, as the account was not in my name and was in my husbands, they would not deal with me and insisted on speaking to him due to data protection. Why is water treated like a credit card debt and not utility out of interest ? I am not in the least bit scared of UDC at all, I just want to ensure they are following correct and legal processes. We moved out in July this year, three months ago, my husband has been in communication with them (UW) regarding the accuracy of the final bill and then I receive this letter from UDC.
  3. I searched and found a very old thread relating to UDC Ltd from 2011 which was helpful thank you, Rather than respond I thought I should create a new one. We moved into a property rented temporarily where the energy supplier was UW, my husband wanted to switch but for reasons unknown to me, didn't. Our electric bill ( no gas) from UW seemed astronomical for 8 months in a very small maisonette at over 3k ( electric storage heaters) , my husband has been querying the accuracy of this with them. Yesterday I received a letter ( addressed to me ) from Utility Warehouse Debt Collectors Ltd ( part of Telecom Plus) regarding the ( as yet unpaid ) account. Having found the old thread on here regarding registration with the FCA and the ICO, I searched the register and found there is no record of UWDC on the FCA register, Telecom Plus is no longer authorised however Utility Warehouse themselves are registered. I emailed them to query the registration with the FCA and they responded to say in a nutshell, that UDC do not require a credit licence as they are involved in debt recovery and therefore it is not applicable ( not sure I can post their reply here?) They also gave me the FCA details for Utility warehouse. My other query relates to them contacting me when the account is in my husbands name. For comparison, I recently sent in documentary evidence of moving home ( council tax bill ) to our water company to close the account, but in response they said they would need my husband to call in as the account was his name and they would need his consent for any discussion of the account with me. Can UDC write to me to discuss an account held by my husband with UW ? They claim they can because we were both named on the tenancy agreement at the property in question. I'm trying to establish whether they are following correct and legal processes in relation to FCA and data protection etc in their communications and attempt to recover this "debt" . Thanks for reading
