30 hours of work for £71.70

works out at £2.39 an hour,

the government would be breaking minimum wage laws.

Plus of course people claiming JSA are spending hours searching for and applying for jobs

and if they don't have internet access at home need to be in libraries or JCP

which are only open working hours

so while they are doing this community work

they cannot search for or find employment in the usual ways.

But in answer to your question, afaik yes, but think they are targetting a certain age range initially but don't quote me.

How does this help people find work.

Being forced to do community work is not going to help them.

It doesn't help people find work. Of course, I suspect that's not really the intent behind the plan.

Nope, because it's not classified as paid employment.

there will be even less vacancies now because people will be doing it for nought to get their JSA

note I realised legally it's not breaking minimum wage laws as it's not work, just making a point really that it's a major kick/incentive to get people into any job at all and off jsa - which is what this scheme is all about.

Plus what you get in housing benefit and council benefit. It's not just what goes in your hand.

Add everything together then work it out again.

Is this CS going to berun alongside the criminal j u stice systems unpaid work scheme? Mind you there is probably some cross over as well. So what happens if you are expected to do 3 days for your crime and another 30 hours for your benefit?

how is this different to the existing work placements?

and if people are working for their dole full time, probably for comemrcial profitable companies, if the government is so obsessed with getting people into work why arent these companies been forced to employ them for a living wage?

many people on jsa don't receive either of those benefits though

Plus, plenty of people who receive HB/CTR work, and their employers don't get to take their benefits into account when deciding what to pay them.

To me, it's pretty simple - if there's a job to do, employ someone to do it.
