G4S or whatever they call themselves now cannot train enough security staff so we are going to use more of the armed forces. With the best will in the world just how long have they known the date of the Olympics? typical leave things till the last minute and get the Army to sort it out.

Apparently the hours are very long for the wage that they are paying which is why they had had difficulty recruiting people. Secondly there is a security issue and who wants to get shot or blow up for earning just above a minimal wage. Then of course there is an accommodation problem. Thirdly you are only employed for a month and then what? Lastly not every one is capable of dealing with the general public and I doubt some how if the army can fill this gap as the men are trained for combat not PR duties. Another legacy from the Labour government that the present government have to resolve!

Dear Serving Soldier,

I appreciate that you may be a bit busy at the moment, but just before I give you the sack would you mind awfully helping out at a small sporting

event we are holding in London this month.

You see I have just spent £475,000,000 on a private firm to do the security but they trousered the money and cannot commit.

I have managed to wangle an old warehouse for your accommodation & some rat packs for food, but you should be used to that by now.

(Gotta keep the cost down L.O.L).

Many thanks

David Cameron.

i don't know why the government continually bites when labour comes out with some of their rubbish, I would just stand up, say 'whatever' and sit down again.

Shame your leaders aren't as astute as Labour then. Just watching your leaders soap opera. It is time for integrity and trust, a long time coming and I would say to all leaders, get real, work for the people.

And this morning Sky have a report from one of the trainers saying that the few people that they have managed to train are basically incompetent - one of them picked up a fake IED, waved it around for a bit and then put it through an XRay machine, and several others failed to spot concealed weapons including guns and knives. Apparently, G4 are running a "No Fail" policy so they can get as many staff as possible through training.

this fiasco is on camerons watch....money being pocketed by the upper echelon without a clue of how to run a company..condem mp's must be extremely proud...theresa may announcing on monday no problems....and having to withdraw that statement by the middle of the week...the rest of world must be curled up laughing at this bunch of clowns.. god forbid anything does happen....and this bunch of numpties are supposedly tendering to patrol the streets instead of our police forces....if the guy who appeared on bbc this morning is anything to go..I am going to try to get out as fast as I can...that's if I can be bothered to stand in line for hours on end at the airport....this is going to be an unmitigated disaster in the offing

Another legacy from the Labour government that the present government have to resolve!

perhaps you would like to explain what this govt. has actually resolved....the police? the army? the NHS, the unemployed?, the sick ill and disabled...they have presided over a debt which has got larger and larger since they came to power...they have trodden all over the poorest of society, they have put another million and a half onto the dole....they have backtracked over so many policies that even I have now lost count....they have propped up the banks just last week by £350bn 'so they could lend more money out' then announce last night they are setting up a lending service so the banks can lend out money...huh?

they do not have a clue....we need a sea change in this country other than the 2 main parties who as far as i can tell are no better than each other....

The UK is a sinking nation still carried along on the momentum of its former glory, but the culture of scapegoating those who are least likely to be capable of defend themselves serves little purpose other than avoiding guilt, as without admitting the real problems, they can't be fixed without confessing the lies.

The UK last year blipped out of recession to have the seventh worst growth in the EU at 0,8%. Its heading for fourth worst this year. Public borrowing against GDP is also 7th worst for this year.

The financial sector that has largely replaced industry in the first industrialised nation on the planet is now frequently owned by the government, and from this forum and news, is riddled with underhand dealings and more bent than an eleven bob note, still continuing to print money hoping to escape from a hole.

The euro is currently in crisis, yet is still worth considerably more against the pound compared to the exchange rate at its inception. What does that say about the UK and sterling?

Will the Olympics be a fiasco?

Why should it be an exception?

Dear Ex Soldier,

As the ex Prime Minister, in whose watch the games were actually bid for, I would appreciate it if you would consider helping out your country once more.

I realise, that I, as a devious lying bastard, who was entirely responsible for the injuries you sustained while looking for weapons of mass destruction that I knew didn't exist, but please ignore that. It was for my glory and for mine alone, that you sustained those injuries. I realise that for you, losing a leg might have been a bit traumatic, but look on the bright side - I was able to get a lot of adulation in Washington, so I'm sure you will agree that it was worth it.

Yours, Tony "lying bastard" Blair.

Dear Ex Serving Soldier,

I'm sorry that the current Government is giving you the sack, that is because we spent all of the money on immigrants.

Yours, ex Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.

ATOS paid millions to find people fit for work...40% of which are overturned at expensive tribunals...again using your money....financial crisis after financial crisis...more u turns than a learner driver on a lesson....labour in power 15 years...this lot 2 and have caused more damage in 2 years than in 15 years of labour...they were unelectable at the last election..and unless they can gerrymander their electoral changes through then they will be unelectable at the next election. so by all means believe the propoganda, but please start to open your eyes

It's difficult to read your rant because it's all one huge sentence and appears to be very incoherent.

I will try though.

I think you are trying to say that I "swallowed the Tory line" on the fact that there is no money. I was actually quoting an ex Labour Minister, Liam Byrne, who left a note for his successor to this effect.

As for the rest of it, well frankly it's a bit difficult to follow, but if you are saying that everybody should pay their taxes, I agree. If you are saying that the only people who should claim benefits are those who are entitled and who deserve to do so, then I agree also. If you are saying that any sponger can jump on a plane/train/ferry and start claiming benefits from you and me, then I disagree.

Before you criticise another man you should first walk a mile in his shoes. Then, when you criticise him, you'll be a mile away and he won't have any shoes on.

why do you believe that there is no money? andd its all been spent?

my rant is basically

1 big business is being handed billions of pounds of public money, and not delivering the goods.(YOUR MONEY)

2. g4s contract £350 million, and cannot fulfill contract (YOUR MONEY)

3. ATOS contract £300m, of which 40% of their dodgy decisions on people being found fit for work are overturned at tribunals(YOUR MONEY)

4. W2W again millions given to providers, yet they have only managed to get less than 3% of the unemployed into paid employment.(YOUR MONEY)

5. there are actually very few spongers who can jump on a plane/train/ferry and then claim benefits in this country. the rules regarding benefit claims for immigrants are very strict. although right wing propoganda would have you believe they are living the life of riley.

6. benefit entitlement for the sick, ends after 365 days unless your income is virtually zero, so if YOU were unfortunate enough to become too sick to work and say your partner had even a p/t job, after a year your entitlements to benefit would be a big fat ZERO.

7. everybody should pay taxes? the people earning top money in this country pay very little in the way of taxation, in fact, the poorest in society give a larger proportion of their income in the way of taxation

8. there is no money left, yet we can find upwards of £35bn to fund two weeks of sport, which no doubt we will be told later, is going to cost us all in higher taxes for x number of years.

9. still no money left? £345bn given to banking in the last month, in the way of QE for them to lend money out.

no wonder there is no bl**dy money dodgy dave has it given it to all his mates...

i was beginning to think what gorgeous geoges note will read.....how about,

sorry there is no money left we gave it all away to our mates..oh and sorry there is no police force, no army, no air force, no navy, but look on the bright side, we do have G4S protecting us all

Why weren't the government/organisers aware until now that G4S weren't in a position to provide this security? For such a huge contract, especially one involving public money, I would have expected more scrutiny to ensure that they'd be able to deliver.

There is also concern that there still won't be enough customs staff to deal with all those entering the country for the olympics.

Let's not forget that with all these shortages, the government have just announced more defence cuts, not to mention all the other public sector cuts there have already been.

At the moment we apparently have the resources to deal with this, but given enough cuts there won't be for future problems.

G4S were in a position to supply the numbers, they thought they would wait until the last minute to recrute them so keeping wages down and profits up

A local hotel I know well was hosting an induction day for 180 G4S recruits this week. 6 turned up!!!

How can that have gone so badly wrong?

It would probably be an unpaid induction/training day, and those expected to attend would have been told an acceptable rate of pay initially, which would then have fallen to minimum wage, and the work a day for free part would push their disillusionment over the edge.
