To claim tax credits you have to fill in a claim form. You can only get a tax credits claim pack from the Tax Credit Helpline. You can't download a claim form, or make your claim online.

There are two types of tax credit - Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit. But you only need to complete one claim form, even if you want to claim both.

We could do with some help from you.

The forms were removed from the JCP offices as a general rule a few years ago due to tax credit identity fraud cases resulting from the easy access to the forms at JCP offices, local authorities and One Stop shops.

2 years ago we were allowed to hold a very small stock of TC600 tax credit claim forms in the JCP office but they were kept under lock and key and were only for customers who were on the old IS/JSA system where they were paid the increase in their benefit as opposed to tax credits, as the vast majority of parents on IS/JSA are now receiving tax credits the forms were removed. When the TC600 fims were issue we also had to ensure that a specified number of pages were completed before they were handed to the customers.

These have always been HMRC forms and the JCP offices were going to be charged for obtaining the forms due to beugdets and spending cuts so it was decided that the forms would only be available via the HMRC services.
