  1. its not about a mortgage or no mortgage. logic dictates that as they want to make money then they go after people with an asset they can identify and then apply their underhand tactics to put a charge on it or have you over a barrel to pay off the debt. obviously its not automatic as there are so many people in this situation.
  2. No need to respond to either of them. J and P are all bark no bite. They sent me pre action protocol papers which I ignored. a few weeks later the standard emails returned before disappearing altogether. They will search your name on the land register. if your name is on it then you probably head a little north on the list of people who they would want to chase. If it doesn't then they wont. therefore its your wife's name they will never know or bother.
  3. does it say the following: As such, we have now recommended to our client that your account should be referred to solicitors for legal action. If you have any queries, you may call us on 01494 911099 and we will try our best to help. got about 6 of them
  4. no. just ignore them. they sent loads of weekly emails and a few letters over 1 year and did absolutely nowt.
  5. Hi yes I received letter and email simultaneously. I dont have the letter anymore. email was like this: Judge & Priestley Contact Request Ref: Dear Sir/Madam, We have been asked to contact you in reference to Emirates NBD. A letter was posted to you on ??????? in respect of this matter. Please contact Judge & Priestley Solicitors on 020 8290 7316 quoting your reference number ??????. When calling you will be asked to complete our security questions to verify your identity. This is not a sales or marketing email and it is important that we speak to you. Our offices are open 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday. Yours faithfully Judge & Priestley LLP they then sent another '2nd contact....' this happpeed a few times......ie 1st contact and 2nd contact.... a pre action protocol - I ignored all then they disappeared.
  6. J&P took over from IDR on my one....sent a load of sms and some letters and constant emails. sent a pap which I was advised to ignore by solicitor and they disappeared soon after.
  7. I think I've had the same emails ages ago threatening to tell the client to start legal action. never happened.
  8. The guys on here are the experts so I would take much more credence of what they say than me. my tuppence happens is when the amount is larger the chances that requesting a load of documents stopping their activity could be seen as simply kicking the can down the road.
  9. the advice my friend has just been given is ignore the PAP as filling it in will just delay them a little but if its loads of money they're gonna come back after getting the reconstituted applications etc.. therefore its just a fishing thing and your handing over any advantage by saying hi here I am. of course that just adds to the confusion but he's heard nothing since last November since the pap other than the same old emails. embarrassing really!
  10. with regards j and p were you receiving generic emails from the company or ones from a specific person?
  11. my good mate had a a case and was convicted in his absence and without knowing. 5 years later he wanted to return as had a good job offer. he got a lawyer in UAE who did a good negotiation and handed over the money in return for the clearance letter and a pardon from the govt so no need for the jail sentence. he is currently in and out of the Uae no issues.
  12. its all very confusing but I reckon it boils down to this. if you have assets they might come and get you. if you dont then they'll chase you but probably do nothing. if you've got a big debt then best off ignoring (even a pap) until a court letter turns up then go to a 'prop' solicitor and turn them over on a technicality.
