Why do employees feel the need to check out and then justify what is being said about the company they work for? Two alledged employees of HFO also have postings on whocallsme site. Makes sickening reading!

The thing with Brighthouse:

Rent to buy isn't exactly new - it's called Hire-Purchase. Lending with open criteria or no credit checks, is also older than me.

What I don't understand is - in an age when responsible lending has supposed to have come to the fore - they are still allowed to do it and engage in the sort of practices the CCA Acts were designed to prevent.

I wish I knew.

You're all probably going to hate me, but I have always harboured ambitions to get into politics because I feel that I'd like to do some good. Geniunely - like many MP's in the Commons. I'm from a poor background, and I'd like to think that perhaps I have a bit of something about me that means I could make good decisions for people.

So for me, this whole episode has really upset and annoyed me. Simply because, if I say to anyone 'I want to do good' it's now going to be interpreted as 'I want the best FOR ME'. They've done more damage to the reputation of politics than any scandal before. In fact, MUCH more damage than ever before.

I would like to say though that we need to see a little beyond the media hype and realise that although many have been 'caught with their pants down' many MPs could be praised for their resonable expenses. I beleive that there was one MP who put in barely any expenses at all above the amount spent on genuine MP business. And remember that we don't want a return to the parliaments of old when people like me couldn't even consider politics (or indeed university).

As an alternative, I may well work in a more ethical business or organisation once I have a degree. But we'll see what happens... I think that perhaps that is the best route.

Right, I'll bend over now for a good old thrashing by a few of you... :D

Now, it seems to me that our fiends in DC land are missing a great business opportunity

Perhaps we, as taxpayers etc, should hire them to pursue all these naughty MP's who have been ripping us off and need to pay back their ill gotten gains

This would achieve two things

1. It would give the Barstewards so much work that they would leave us in peace

2. It would give the MP's a taste of the tactics that are used, might result in some positive legislation ?

Just a thought

DC,

"MP who put in barely any expenses at all above the amount spent on genuine MP business"

The taxman would not be happy if, when self-employed' you did the same.

Incidentally aren't MPs self employed anyway so what is the taxman going to do?

GK

Was an accident - I didn't mean that.

Just want to be clear that I don't condone anything that has happened, mearly that I genuinely beleive that some people enter politics for the right reason. Think I've been put off though...

EDIT:

Here is the report to back up what I said. Rarely reported: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8048215.stm

You are a brave person bending over in this thread!

Politics comes from the latin Poli (meening many) and Ticks (Blood sucking insects)

I do feel you are correct, I think the majority of people now view ALL politicians the same way as they percieve benefit cheats.

What the country needs is full transparancy into MP's reciepts, not just an independant few people looking them over, make them accessable by the whole country!

The easiest way to show displeasure in the MP's scandal is at the Ballot box at the next general election. Then their salary is severely restricted and their chances of making a "mistake" goes to zero. However, I suspect that many words will be written by many people and spoken by many people who will simply not bother to vote. Personally, I am voting in local and european elections. I won't vote for the major parties in this election.

Snap.

Before you criticise another man you should first walk a mile in his shoes. Then, when you criticise him, you'll be a mile away and he won't have any shoes on.

Don't get me confused with somebody knowledgeable by all those green blobs. I got most of them by making people laugh.
