  1. ting fight, we will help you because it's about time that somebody took on BES Utilities and we would be very pleased to assist. Get the recordings before they are deleted under their "retention policy". Also, I suggest that you and also the other person involved sit down for half an hour or so and make a detailed statement of exactly what happened – the conversation. Make sure it's timed and dated. If this does have to go further than having contemporaneous statements – or as close as possible will be enormously helpful. If this did have to go further than I would envisage a claim for misrepresentation.
  2. Hello, I urgently need some help with BES utilities. I have business premises and my current electric supplier - PFP Energy - was due to expire on Friday 23 July. On Wednesday 21 July, I searched for quotes via compare the market for a new supplier and was told a broker would get in touch with me. Bionic called me immediately and signed me up to EDF. Fixed rate for 2 years. I was happy with this. On Friday 23 July I received multiple calls from a new broker - Power 4 Business - who told me that EDF were unable to become my supplier because they weren’t supporting sole traders. They said EDF ha
  3. we bought an ex commercial property who was being supplied by BES utilities august 2017, we never had an account with them they blocked switch for months, charging business levies etc until dec 2017 got ombudsman involved who decided in our favour, made them provide credits for account for £595 making account zero , compensation payments and made them not block a switch over since 2018 been £595 sold to now 7 DCA, every time i send credit note ombudsman decision and say go away and they do then sold to another DCA and the cycle repeats how do i stop this ?
  4. sed by any breach of contract on your part and I can scarcely imagine that BES utilities are spending £50 a month simply dealing with some breach of contract. They have a crappy reputation and when you get things sorted out, you've had a good lesson to steer clear of them – and so should anybody else.
  5. I have read most of the recent exchanges relating to BES Utilities but they don't quite cover the situation I find myself in'. 1) I found out from the national database that BES used to supply a hairdressing business which leased the premises on the first floor of a building we own. 2) That business went into receivership in 2017 and BES cut them off soon after that. I do not know exact dates as I was nothing to do with the process. 3) The premises has remained empty since then and no electricity (obviously) consumed. So I asked BES to downgrade the meter to residential so I could apply for a supply. 4) I began th
  6. Hi all Have been a customer with BES since September, now thats not a long time ago really so you'd think not a lot could have gone wrong ...right? Wrong! Biggest scam company I have ever seen. If I ran my business they way this one is run, I'd have 0 customers! Usual story, broker calls out of the blue (Who works on behalf of BES) when we opened up our offices in September.....Lo and Behold we get signed up with BES! Since that day, my life has been nothing but stress! Quite happily paid them £132.50 per month, thought that was quite reasonable.. .. Then the big one lands...£908 because of a me
  7. Hello I changed from an LLP to a LTD company in December. As a sole trader I was very busy doing all that needed to be done and in my office alot of the time. The phone rang constantly with cold callers. Relentless and eventually I relented and listened to a person from Business Services Compare UK who told me they were an independent energy broker who could get me better deals on my Gas and Electric. I said I was with the companies I was with and I wasn't interested as I didn't want to incur out of contract rates. They told me it was illegal for my supplier to do this. I told them who m
  8. Well the good news is that you are no longer with BES utilities so that they cannot hold you to ransom and threaten to cut off your supply. You are now with EDF. They're French but I suppose that can't be helped. In the utilities world there is a system of "deemed contracts". I suppose it is reasonable enough to ensure continuity of supply so that if you move into new premises and take over from a previous tenant/owner, your supply is not disrupted while you sort yourself out. You can then have the opportunity to continue with the existing supplier or tends to somebody new. The problem is that the utilities companies – both in res
  9. Well we haven't heard about BES utilities for a long time. Frankly I thought they'd gone to the wall. I love the way that you say you were dealing with a utilities company and you expected to be treated fairly. How wonderfully innocent. Here's some reading about BES utilities https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/search/?q="bes utilities"&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy You say that they were pressing you for a contract – which means that you didn't have one? So on what basis where they applying these standing charges? Were they the supplier of the previous tenant and they simply hit you with something which is gen
  10. supplier to EDF. Unfortunately, until now the energy supplier was BES Utilities. They approached us a couple of times but always demanding we organise a contract with them. They've been very aggressive in their tone so we have not engaged with them. We have recently received a bill and we are horrified at the charges. I know it is our own fault that we didn't check, however we thought charges should be fair and we would have never expected such a big bill. Our actual energy consumption is £15.29 but they are demanding and additional £228 on standing charges for 5 months supply. Does anyone have
  11. me to CAG As far as my checks have gone, Select Energy are part of BES utilities and BES were sanctioned in 2015 by OFGEM for exactly this reason. It may be that Select has been spun off from BES but I can't find any info so this is based on them still being part of BES https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/sites/default/files/docs/bes_penalty_notice_of_decision.pdf Firstly, stay off the phone and deal with this in writing. A formal complaint is the first thing I would do and give them the required 8 weeks to respond. (I am assuming you are a small business). Make sure that you insist that the recording of the call be maintaine
  12. - and can't find anything. I think this is great from Andy Pilley and BES Utilities - I can't find any other supplier that has improved their renewable output. But this thread seems to focus on the negatives... it's a shame.
  13. ucted/programmed to post negative links/comments whenever you see the name BES Utilities?
  14. Does that mean that there have been at least two investigations into BES Utilities – one which has resulted in a fine and which has now been closed and a subsequent one which is still ongoing?
  15. opic and post negative articles regarding a positive subject... and indeed BES Utilities in general? Keep them comments to their relevant threads/websites.
  16. d-town-1-8039226 Apparently there was a police raid on the offices of BES Utilities in relation to energy mis-selling. http://theenergyst.com/trading-standards-and-police-raid-bes-utilities-and-commercial-power/ I wonder what the result of the ongoing investigation is? It makes me think about the several complaints that we've had about BES Utilities on this forum which have suggested a similar kind of mis-selling behaviour. I suppose it is just coincidence
  17. s is the kind of altruism that is greatly appreciated here. Wasn't BES Utilities under investigation by the regulator for something other? What has been the result of that?
  18. Taken from the BES Utilities website: This is positive news, what do we think?
  19. Avoid this awful company at all costs. BES Utilities and their so called "3rd party" brokers tricked me into a 5 year contract by lying and impersonating the account manager at my energy provider by name, which I had foolishly told them thinking it would get them off my back. After a really stressful month of communicating with the downright insolent staff at BES Utilities, trying to escape their fraudulently obtained contract, I was happy to pay a £400 termination fee which they offered as "a gesture of goodwill". They had initially demanded 5 years of estimated usage and had already estimated about 10 times the actual useage on our fi
  20. Hi folks I have a tomlin order against me, BES utilities forced me into a corner and it appeared I had no choice but to sign it. However a judge suspects mass fraud and has asked me to provide case law wher the order can be annulled in a case like this. Can anyone help with this.
  21. But mr Qualter/Goulding is best friends with mr Andy Pilley owner of BES Utilities (he was pilleys best man) BES only use mr Qualter/Goulding's brokers. They harass and bombard small businesses with calls then con you into signing up to BES Utilities
  22. BES Utilities are the worst company in Britain quite possibly the world They conned us using their supposedly independent broker Energy Search which have now been proved not to be independent They harassed us with non stop calls, fabricated fictitious rates to make BES Utilities appear the best option, told us all commercial properties had to have 5 year contracts . Luckily we found a website called 0lly.uk on Google. they are the most helpful people in dealing with BES and have a brilliant form to fill in that gets results! Thank God for good people, they helped us through the terrible ordeal when we complained
  23. , the hype, the threats, the smooth posting on these forums and elsewhere, BES utilities have been found to be in breach of several obligations of required industry standards. This will come to no surprise to a large number of people who had dealings with this shabby company and in particular it will come as no surprise to the victims who have suffered from the unjust bullying that they have received at the hands of BES utilities and which in some cases have even destroyed their businesses and their hopes and ambitions. I see that as usual, not only as a regulator taken his time in sorting this out, but the resulting sanction amount
  24.
