Hi everyone I'm new to these posts but hoping you can help,

I received a civil parking charge through the post as I parked in Lidl car park for 1 hour 38 mins when the allowed time was 1 hour 30.

They sent me photo evidence of me entering and leaving.

They applied to DVLA for my details.

The charge is for £90 but £45 if I pay before 14 days. What can I do thanks in advance

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Definitely get on to the Lidl CEO regarding this. In fairness to Lidl, they are pretty good at putting Athena back under their rock. :thumb:

Please note that my posts are my opinion only and should not be taken as any kind of legal advice.
In fact, they're probably just waffling and can be quite safely and completely ignored as you wish.

ive removed the word FINE from your post

it is not a fine

its a speculative invoice

if you look on the council planning site records

I bet you will find as with most of these site

the planning permission was given for free parking for 3 hrs

no PPC can change that.

This was the email I wrote to the Ceo

My car was parked in the car park of your Gainsborough branch on the 21st July 2018, whilst we were doing shopping.

As a Lidl customer we lost track of time looking at all of your products and not able to move very quickly we also spent a while queuing so consequently I was sent a civil parking charge for an overstay by the people who run your car park.

Unfortunately the receipts were not kept and I paid cash, as I sometimes do but have evidence of other shopping trips as a loyal customer.

An overstay in your car park was never intended, as I have a blue badge and the car can be parked in other places for longer if needed

So this was a genuine oversight and I would be grateful if you would tell Athena to cancel this notice in this instance.*

This was there reply

Thank you for taking the time to contact our CEO. I have been asked to respond to you on his behalf.

*

I was sorry to learn that you received a charge.

*

Lidl UK GmbH is a national retailer. As such, we have stores in locations with limited parking space and in common with many of our competitors, our store car parks are abused to a significant and detrimental extent. We have therefore judged it necessary to take measures so that our stores parking facilities are available first and foremost to our customers.

*

In order to ensure that sufficient parking spaces are available at all times to our customers, Lidl employs third party contractors to monitor and control our car parks. So far, this service has proved reliable and effective in reducing car park abuse and in freeing up spaces for our customers.

Could you please provide the following to allow me to appeal the charge:

· A copy of your blue badge

· The parking charge notice number

Please reply directly to this email (without deleting the subject line):

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

For and on behalf of Lidl UK GmbH

Then I got this later today

Thank you for your email.

In light of your comments I have contact Athena and asked that the charge is cancelled. As you supplied your blue badge, I have also added your vehicle registration to the exemption list for Lidl Gainsborough which allows up to 3 hours parking.

*

I hope that this resolves the matter for you and I apologise again for any dissatisfaction caused.

Thank you again for contacting us.

Yours sincerely,

For and on behalf of Lidl UK GmbH

As I said earlier, in fairness to Lidl, they have always been pretty good with this kind of thing. It's just a shame that they (Lidl) can't or won't fire Athena out the door. But I suppose that would cost them loads for some supposed breach of contract.

Anyway, well done on the result and I'll update your thread title :thumb:
