just had the briefest of chats with a girl that works for welcome.... they have not got a clue what is going on..... i asked if she was still working for them and she said yes but its very hard work. I asked her how bad is it at welcome and is your job safe.... her reply was... yes everything is fine now. Her interpretation of what has happened is that wlelcome have a 3 year loan to pay back but have struggled to collect money in to pay it so the directors lied about the accounts but everything is fine now. She thinks its just a couple of million that is owed and that everything is hunkydorey. I explianed to her exactly what has happened and she didnt belive me.. obviously they are so dim at welcome that they belive everything they are told.

Ooops poor girls obviously oblivious to the £500m loan repayment steaming towards Cattles in July followed by another £135m in Oct/Nov, shes blind to the fact they arent lending anymore...Or is she just reading from the company hymn sheet ???

I was just so surprised after talking to this girl just how little she knew and she has been there a few years....... when i first asked her what she was doing with herself her reply was " nothing, absolutely nothing" so she may have been trying to hide the fact that she suspects her job is in doubt as i think she is looking for a job back at where i work and she may have not wanted to come across as desperate... the reason i suspect that is that our loan is through the office that she works and for some reason we are being dealt with by a different office.

just on a different subject is this number a number for a specific welcome office or is it a national number 08454564877. The reason i ask is that a few posts back we aere discussing the possabilities of a specialist team doing the collecting for them is this is the number our call came from..

Hi Mojo, This number 08454564877 is through "head office" according to my usual contact in the local office... this was the same number that rang me in the wigan area from the "local office"...it seems all calls are filtered through them outbound, if i ring my local office number it gets filtered through a muppett in nottingham and passed to local office if i request it !!

It seems they may now possibly be recording ?? all calls and logging them nationally, hence why we keep getting the call charge letters .. this has been going on from approx January that i know of....so we all need to be cautious about what we say, and even better record the calls ourselves...

Back onto the subject of SAR.. just been scrutinising the drivvell they sent me, trying to pass it off as a SAR, AND true and original copies of the agreement and the actuall term they have on there for the loan is 300 months...YES thats right 300 months or 25 Years ...i do not ever remember my husband or myself agreeing to a re-write of a 180 month loan to 300 months,...

Are there such secured loans out there with welcome for this lenght of time ??? Anyone ??

caution is definately the word.... When we rang our local branch to make a payment we asked for a specific person who we spoke to the night before... they just said that the person in question was on his lunch and he would call us back, it was by this number that he called, sneaky baxxxrds

Hi Brassed,

This is a shocker! 300 months is a very long stretch. Did you have PPI with the loan? If so what was the term of the PPI policy?

I dont even want to think about how much they are making on interest over this term and the chronic APR along with it.

Have a look at the PPI term and the loan term, if they do not run along side each other then its clear your demands and needs were NOT met when the application was taken out. Even over 180 months it probably wont be the same. As far as I can work out Welcome do not sell policys that run longer than 60 months.

Something for you to look into.

Welcome have set up a dedicated number for staff to call for feedback on the state of the company. I have personally listened to the main man himself assure staff everything is ok. What a spin doctor!! He certainly can talk the talk.

They need to keep staff confidence inline with collections and running the business. Can you image if they all knew the truth, no one would pitch to the office.

Anyhow I think we are in for a week for make or break.
