Hi all.

I recently read in the Sunday Times that even though some banks have told customers that they cannot find records regarding potential PPI claims because the claims are regarding loans that were over 6 years ago,

once the Ombudsman has got involved,

some banks have 'found' the records stored on 'legacy computer systems or microfiche'.

This sounds too good to be true.....is there any truth in this, please?

yes weve seen it lots of times here

particularly with Barclaycard

we've also seen cases of hsbc having record back to the early 1990's

and one back to the 80's

Excellent!!

I've done a SAR with HSBC but they claim that their records didn't go back to when I needed (unfortunately 1996ish) so do I have to go the Ombudsman route to enquire about microfiche?

They are trying that one on with me... I have FOS involved and they have given HSBC some time to try and find details of my claim... Not sure what will happen if they don't find anything, however, I am lucky enough to have the original signed agreement, dating back to 1986, no less!

I had loads of loans from HFC, plus a mortgage... but not sure how I will claim anything without the agreements... (I do have the policy numbers on old bank statements, though... will just keep digging, I think!

Good Luck! TB
