Cabot and old HSBC Credit card debt - still showing on my credit file after 6yrs

Hi - looking for some help.

I defaulted on a number of accounts more than six years ago.

Health issues and redundancy are the background.

I'm pleased to report all debts are not off my record, and my scores on the various credit reference agencies are decent. All except one.

There is a HSBC credit card account showing on my Equifax record.

The account originally defaulted on 8th October 2016.

Cabot took over and I sent them the CCA letters etc.

Equifax confirm Cabot have not provided an update since 2022 and the account is no longer showing as defaulted.

As the other defaulted accounts have now fallen off my record I don't know why this one remains.

Is this simply a case of asking Cabot to remove the record?

Oops - noticed a typo in my post.

It should read:  "I'm pleased to report all debts are now off my record"

ok good dont wanna be climbing the wrong tree .

have you evidence that hsbc issued a default notice on or before their sale to cabot?

cause they must have sent a default notice at some point as the debt would be of no use to cabot without one?

so there is no defaulted date in the summary of the debt on any of the 3 credit file providers?

There was a default listed on all three but it dropped off after 6 years. Experian and Transunion now have no record of the account.

Experian list the account as an active credit card agreement with Cabot Credit Management Group as the provider.

The record shows a current balance of £8k+.

The record also shows a "query - account under review" in October 2021 and no updates from November 2021 to September 2022, then nothing against each month from October 2022 to now.

i said a defaulted date in the summary which can only be there as a result of the issuance of a default notice by the OC on or before the sale.

a default, or D or 123456 in the calendar section is not the same thing.

what im getting at is that if hsbc did send/register a default notice under section 87 of the CCA they should have a copy or atleast a note about sending it and it might be worth an sar to them. however, if this data is outside of 6yrs they might not now have it.

the only way to get this off your file is to prove  a default notice was issued, show cabot that, then they'll tell the cra's and the debt will be gone from them all.
