We took out a loan with Lombard Direct, with a PPI, over 15 years ago and no longer have the paperwork as it was paid off. I wrote to RSB who own Lombard Direct but they have replied stating that they have no record of our loan. Is it worth pursuing any further or is it just too long ago?

Too long ago. Creditors rarely keep info longer than 6 years now.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

If my advice helps you, click the star icon at the bottom of my post and feel free to say thanks

Records are kept only for six years after an account is closed, unlikely you will succeed in getting any information.

They have to keep the documents for six years 'after' the account has been closed if this is the case then. yes too long.

Must learn to type faster!!!:-x

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Seeing as they will have guessed at why you were enquiring and the fact that banks tell more lies than a sailors parrot, I would do an sar. I wouldn't be surprised if they got a bonus for every ppi enquiry they returned saying no. With an sar something else might come to light even the account you enquired about that they claim to no longer have or you might find something else to claim on that you hadn't thought of.

It has to be worth the £10 cost.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Well I Googled it and came up with RBS for Lombard Direct, also that's what I asked them about so presumably they would have told me that they didn't own Lombard Direct? I don't have any records at all, no paperwork or anything as most of our documents (apart from personal ones) were destroyed in 2007 so I doubt that a SAR would produce anything else. I sent the same enquiry to LloydsTSB a few months ago, with no records or account numbers, and they sent me £6000!

Have you tried asking your bank if they would still have any statements as you never know if they send you old statements (even if at the very end of loan) you will have proof of loan and amounts?? Not sure if that'll work for you but that's how I found some of the loans that I didn't even know I'd had! Natwest have managed to send me stuff from 11 years ago, 15 may be stretching it though :-)

RBS was never our bank so if they don't have a record of the Lombard Direct Loan, they won't have any records for us at all.

I meant your bank because if you were making payments to someone else it may show on your statements which is how I found many other credit cards and loans I didn't remember having. Payments to them were showing on my bank statements.

  • 1 month later...

I received my bank statements and on one was a loan of £15000 from RBS Telemarketing with a reference number.

I had forgotten about this and cannot even remember taking it out now!

I sent a copy of the statement to RBS and they have written back saying

"Please note that RBS Group are no longer responsible for processing Tesco related PPI complaints"

and giving me an address at Tesco Customer Contact centre.

Why would a Tesco loan be called "RBS Telemarketing"?
