Do ASDA use a different calender to us?

As already reported in the media over the past couple of weeks a lot of ASDA stores have already got Santa's grotto in place ready for Xmas & have been selling Xmas lines for ages. SWMBO has just come in from work and told me that they are now expecting their delivery of the Easter eggs on Boxing day.

 

She was also given her 'Xmas stocking' from work which contained party packs, nuts etc.

It's flipping everywhere! My local bargain card shop has their Christmas range out, as does my local newsagent and chemist. One of the bookshops has all their Christmas Annuals out as well! One of my Facebook friends has started her Christmas countdown (status update every day saying how many days are left) and changed her name to something like "Santa's Little Helper" or "Christmas Pixie" or something equally depressing.

 

Wake me up on the 20th of December, please...I don't want to hear about any of it until then!

For manufacturing/supply purposes, YES they do.

 

Its called profitability.

 

Nothing you buy from them will have been made in the U.K. to enable a constant supply on the run up to Xmas.

 

Its been imported. Its here. Its in the warehouse. Its probably been paid for a year ago.

 

So, get it out on the shelves and sell, sell, sell.

I've already been doing some Xmas cards, I make my own and in the crafting world there is 'Xmas in July' where you dig out the unfinished stuff from last year, start on long term projects (so you might finish them in time for THIS year) and generally see what you might need to get to continue feeding the crafting habit!

 

Yes, Xmas stuff sighted in Poundland and other shops - apparently they had such a bad time with the garden stuff this year they are hoping people might buy early for Xmas this year.

We went to JTF warehouse yesterday, and they were packed out with Christmas lights, decorations, cards etc - it was quite surreal to see tinsel and sparkling Christmas light next to BBQ's and patio sets

I'm not a lover of Asdas quality, but I think the quality of most supermarkets has gone down hill, with the exception of Waitrose, but we all know how expensive that place is

 

I only use supermarkets now for items such as toiletries etc, I use my Butchers for meat, the market or greengrocers for fruit and veg, and I go to the Asian shop when I visit my friend for my spices etc.

Good attitude but the problem is the supermarket is convenient so you buy all your stuff there. Many times we have gone in to make a few purchases and walk out with a trolly load of stuff!

As a shop owner I can tell you we had to place most of our Xmas orders for this year in December last year....usual chaos when come October you can't find the bl**dy pre-orders and don't remember whats been ordered or when its going to arrive, I also sell the craft lines for card making and they start arriving in March!!!!

After getting tickets to be in the audience of a very well known TV show recording a few months back, we arrived on one of the few hot days of this year to find out they were recording the xmas special. the whole audience was sweltering, fanning themselves, shedding as many clothes as they could and the poor panel were dressed up in santa padded outfits, woollen scarves and hats and other winter paraphernalia!

Me too, even though I don't buy meat or veg in ASDA or any other supermarket anymore, it's as good as any for the things I do need! And their kitchen stuff is great!
