Hi

I came across this site while searching for information following my fine from UKCPS on Saturday for "leaving site".

We were "allowed" to park in the (free) car park of a retail park by an arrangement held with our destination

however we forgot to put in a note to say where we were.

By the time we were reminded a fine had already been issued.

Having read a lot of posts we've decided to be brave and not pay (there were 3 cars "done" - one has already sent a cheque with his appeal letter)

I just wondered how far things have got for people?

Has anyone ever been taken to court?

Has it ever got that far?

It's a bit daunting thinking of debt collectors and court proceedings...

We've decided to ignore the 'fine' and wait for the first letter and

then reply asking for evidence and see how we get on.

I'm wondering if I should go back and double check the signage?

Or does that not really matter?

Thanks!!

Does the sign say something along the lines of "If you leave before OR after visiting xyz you agree to pay £100?"

Either way you can safely ignore it.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

  • 2 years later...

The advice has now changed, you should start your own thread as it will go missed here (2 year old thread)

The advice now is to appeal their speculative invoice direct to the PPC, when they respond with their standard template response

that they don't uphold your appeal they will issue you with a POPLA code, you then appeal to POPLA who will usually find in your favour and

overturn the invoice.

Hi ,

I know it was a long time ago but can you tell me what your outcome was,

as we have just received a ticket for the same reason-

leaving site in a free carpark,

and are deciding what to do

Hiya

We went with the ignore advice. We had 2 further letters with the last one received around the November/December time.

One of our friends paid up with an appeal letter and just got told, "tough!"

I'd recommend doing it, but as the previous poster has mentioned, double check the current info. Do research to make sure you're happy and then see how it goes.

Good luck!

Wait for a NTK in the post ( if you are the rk ) and start a thread of your own.
