Hey people.

Starting from Saturday I have been getting calls from IQOR, presumably from a negative balance in my old paypal account due to a bank chargeback from a buyer. Since that happened the account got limited so just let it die. It was only in -£64 so not a big amount.

Now Paypal must have passed on my info to IQOR so they can hassle me. I have been doing a little reading which basically say the just try and scare you into paying.

Now I was 17 when it went into negative, which was some months ago. I'm now 18 but doubt that will have much affect.

Am I safe in just ignoring it due to the small amount. I am currently in my final year of studying for my A-Levels so its a real annoyance when I get a phone call whilst I am studying so just mute the ring and continue working.

Not to mention my lack of money due to being unemployed and being a student.

It may be a stupid move but I plan on going on the ignore plan in which I don't answer any of their calls. As it is a small amount I assume they won't chase it for long as they probably have many more cases with a lot more money.

I would just like some advice or tips on what I should do regarding all this.

Thanks.

IQor appear to have purchased or been passed a whole shed load of PayPal accounts.. It might be worth your having a read round the forum to see how others are dealing.. which for the most part is pretty much the way you appear to be dealing at the present !

That's what I was going to do. I mean surely it would cost them more to chase this case up. I barely have enough money to get me through 6th form due to government cuts. The money I do have I can't afford to waste so this is basically one of my only choices.

yes, they may not chase for 65 quid all the way. plus, you were 17?

but, they may register a 'default'/adverse payment info against you? is 65 quid worth a poss default?

What is a default?

A default is registered on your Credit reference file and stays on for a period of 6 years.

Don't let this worry you, I have never heard of Ebay registering a default onto a credit record.

Thanks, I have enough to worry about with exams which are in a weeks time. I don't need extra stuff to be stressing about. I think I will go on the turn a blind eye approach and ignore it. Thanks for the advice people, you have been helpful :)

Idiot iQor and the unenforceable debts they pick up from Ebay are a non starter, it's a shame they don't employ someone who has the intelligence to recognise they're not going to get paid and should drop ebay debts.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

I am being pestered about a disputed debt to Ebay.

These people have phoned me a couple of times and the first thing they request is my security information.

I simply insist that as they have called me it is THEY that should be giving me the security information, as they could be anyone, they refuse to give me any information quoting data protection.

This also works a treat with sales calls from insurance companies, banks, mobile phone companies . . . . . . .

Take control of the situation and tell them whatever they wish to say can be committed in writing and if they even think of ringing you again you will not hesitate to report them to Ofcom and the police for the criminal offence of harassment, then hang up.
