Welcome to the site.

This is quite amazing and while there may be some that DID know,I personally didnt.

Where did you get the info ?

It certainly raises questions and I would like to know some more.If only for future use in knowing what we are dealing with.

Obviously as one of the 3 but the biggest,it demands a few answers.

Dont forget the Credit reference agencies have no legal authority by way of statute laws to operate....it is purely agreements and arrangements.

Wescot however are under the jurisdiction of the regulators and must be seen to operate within statute law and under the regulation of the CCA.

Interesting stuff.

Please give some more details.

“Everyone is much more professional today, compared with the industry’s

former grubby, nasty reputation,” Maynard says, adding that collectors are more readily perceived by creditors and consumers as “a natural part of the credit cycle.”

Well I moved just over a year ago and all debt chasing stopped. Then a friend of the wifes visited and showed her a cool site to check your credit rating (Equifax) within two weeks the letter from the DCA's had resumed.

As a side note all my wifes debts are joint debts from the late 90's which are chasing her because I was made Bankrupt.

Kind Regards

Bigandy

Wow it makes you wonder if Wescot's computer is linked to Equifax, every time someone does a credit check BINGO.

You're not a million miles wide of the mark there. Certain names/addresses are tagged to be looked at if credit is applied for, often notifying DCA's. Alarms bells also ring everytime someone checks their own credit file, and you confirm your ID and whereabouts with a credit/debit card.

If you have a similar name, DOB, or have a link with an address where there is an outstanding debt, there is a fairly high chance you will find yourself on the computer generated threatogram mailing list somewhere.

HOIST BY THEIR OWN PETARD.

Blimey it works....:-)

yeap i bet tracing everything you buy against your Tesco Reward card, now Westcot Will be demanding the £2 a week you spend on sherbert dips for your children. Claiming its over and above normal living expenses.

Just as a pointer has anyone managed to get a westcot default removed from Equifax? Isn't tricking people applying for a credit file entrapment or something similar?

Experian - GUS archive

HAVE A LOOK AT THIS

Yes Great Universal Stores had a massive database of catalogue customers and credit files, along with huge amounts of personal data.

Experian and GUS 'parted' ways and became separate companies partly to try to minimise the conflict of interest argument amongst other reasons.

CRA's and DCA's are so closely linked they are the same thing, in all but name.

HOIST BY THEIR OWN PETARD.

The CEO of OSI is one Kevin T Keleghan (it's an American company)..Found an interesting article on this chap > http://www.aircompressorsettlement.com/cases/pdf/SRS/SRSNotice.pdf 'Background of the Action' (points number 3 and 5 in particular) is an interesting read.
