Just had an online chat with Meritforce/Mackenzie Hall - pics added

Hi all...

 

Received a letter on the 11th March from Meritforce demanding payment for a debt I didn't recognise (doesn't appear on my credit file either).

 

Sent a CCA request to them later that week... received a letter this morning making a 50% reduction offer for an immediate payment which is a "time barred offer" never to be repeated! Wow... so anyway they provided a link in the letter where you can have an "online conversation" with a DCA operator... here's what happened. Enjoy

Is the so called 'debt' over 6 years old? If so, send them the statute of limitations act with a covering note which reads 'deal with this monkey company' and they will have to leave you alone...thats what I did and they never contacted me again.

I think the debt is possibly Statute Barred but, hey, until they provide a CCA how can I tell? ;-)

 

I can't say too much obviously yet but they are falling over themselves to avoid sending out the CCA.

 

I've never asked this before but it's something that has caused me to wonder...

 

If I do not acknowledge a debt, and pay not a dime on it, then after 6 years it is statute barred from my understanding...

 

BUT...

 

If the company provides proof of the debt... how can you wiggle out of the acknowledgement if the company have provided proof of the debt upon me asking for it? Is this not an acknowledgement of some type?

 

Answers not appreciated on a postcard... here will suffice

a statute barred debt can never become un-statute barred under any circumstances

 

chances are any CCA they do come up with will be unenforceable anyway......so you can have them chasing their tails like idiots till the debt does become SB

Hassling a DCA using online chat. Brilliant. Have you considered doing a copy and paste job of the whole of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 for your next DCA online chat?

 

They cannot escape from CAG members. They'll be sending demands for payment on Facebook next.

 

I think Graeme was getting a tad peed off with you there. I wonder where they got a DCA employee who can write English? Amazing.

 

I wonder if their online chat thing works with a fake account number and address? Could be fun, that one.

If next you go online with Muck Hall and you don't get Graeme you will get a woman called Diane. Trust me I have been there and mine was stat barred. I finally got a confirmation email today off them saying they were no longer chasing the debt. Just keep pressing the idiots and tell Graeme and Diane I said hi
