Should we trust Sunak or the next PM to fix the Country's problems? (title revised 24/10/22)

LOL LOL LOL

The Sunday Times reported that Bone had threatened to stand as an independent if the Tories did not include Harrison on their shortlist of candidates. Bone denied that report

Jonathan Ashworth, a shadow Cabinet Office minister, said: “Rishi Sunak caving to Peter Bone’s demand to select his partner so he doesn’t run as an independent shows just how weak the prime minister is

That's unbelievable. Voters in Wellingborough who voted to recall Bone get Bone's girlfriend. I'm sure he won't be involved in her job as an MP though...

I wonder if she's allowed to take him on as staff? He probably still has a parliamentary pass.

A long way behind even Sunak, as recent chancellor and then PM - so who has no excuses

- let alone the others described in HB's link - plus Ernst & Young - but especially the senior management at the PO

I think TOR has lobbed in one of his hand grenades and gone.

I suspect he means that some right wing journos are trying to blame Starmer over the prosecutions of SPM's from when he was DPP. The problem with this theory is that of course POL has its own prosecutors, the DPP doesn't get involved.

How many by-elections is it now?

Wonder how many Tory MPs will jump into the private sector before they are booted out by the public and become FAR less interesting to the private sector?

- about 150-200? (the others will be better established with the private sector)

Bet this parliamentary session is the most expensive in history BY FAR (in person costs let alone crony and incompetence costs) given how many different PM's and Ministers theres been, and how many 'ennoblement's - particularly as they claimed they were going to shrink the Lords  - just another lie

Although this has a more London centric perspective, its something most of us already know and experience

Sadiq Khan calls for 'honest' debate about Brexit, publishing research saying it has made UK economy £140bn smaller

Sadiq Khan, the Labour mayor of London, will call for an “honest” debate about Brexit in a speech tonight in which he will highlight new research claiming the average Briton was nearly £2,000 worse off last year because the UK is no longer in the EU.

And Khan will say that the report from Cambridge Econometrics shows the average Londoner is nearly £3,400 worse off.

The report argues that the UK economy is £140bn smaller than it otherwise would have been, and London’s economy £30bn smaller than it would have been, because of Brexit.

Khan will set out his case in his speech to the Mansion House dinner tonight. In s, Khan says:

Rather than dodging and ducking this issue, it’s incumbent on all of us to have an honest and mature discussion about the best way forward. It’s now obvious that Brexit isn’t working.

of course, the Toryie actions have ensured that the 'common' British and British businesses have experienced the worst of it.

I hope we are entering a new era of political change going forward in the future. The scandalous waste of tax payers money is more transparent to see and more injustice is being challenged and gaining a momentum with exposure from all the media spectrum. The cycle of an average of ten years more or less for a particular party is not enough to work out the solutions to sort out the problems of the country. The wheels to improve move too slowly to see the rewards then another party come along and so the cycle continues.

A lot of sense from Peter Hitchens

There should be, in this country, a great wave of outrage and frustration, big enough to sweep the existing political parties off the map and start again. But the only passions which engage anyone are futile ones, especially the dreadful cult of Net Zero. And, of course, the great political standby, another bloody foreign war.
